FACTS AND FICTION

In which I dutifully inform you all of fun facts, pet peeves, secrets, and other things about the characters, as well as what I went through writing this book.

1. I actually almost cast Kate Mara as Victoria.
It was a bit hard finding a good face claim. It took about three days, actually, not consecutively, but still. Emma Watson was an option, as well. I asked a couple of friends, after I narrowed it down, and they all chose Keira. I'm damn well glad they did.
2. T'Challa and Victoria were, in the past, romantically involved.
I, as a human being, wholly accept the head-canon that T'Challa was a playboy before he became King. Victoria, after a particularly nasty incident, was captured by the Black Panther himself. The rest of her colleagues escaped, leaving her to suffer the legal consequences in the African country.
The Archangel, after having explained that she had to go back to Hydra, was taken out of prison. However, she had been strictly told to not leave the country under any circumstances. T'Challa, for reasons probably known, offered to be her "watcher." The Archangel was breaking free of Hydra's conditioning - eventually learning how to care for people. Specifically the Black Panther. Their relations were unknown, to almost everyone.
After 3 months, in which Victoria (not knowing she was Victoria) had been rehabilitated quite a bit, Hydra came for her. Of course, she went, but with a bit of a fight. She killed two Hydra agents in the process, which drew the Panther from his sleep. He stumbled outside, only to find Victoria getting lifted away. They met again, as mentioned, but Victoria was unrecognizable seeing as her hair was blonde and there was a mask on her face.

T'Challa only realized it was her when he said his name, coughing up blood.
3. Pre-war!Victoria could probably beat a professional boxer.
Her father, after her expressing wanting to know how to fight, taught her the obvious basics of fighting. She then enlisted the help of her school crush, Jack Rivers (who you'll find more about in IMW) and he taught her, basically, how to be a badass. And then there was Bucky, who made it his 2nd job to teach her how to kick ass. She was only given a 109% boost by the Winter Soldier serum.
4. Victoria's wings
I actually planned for Victoria to die, in the beginning of this. Clearly, I changed my mind. However, I also came to wonder: Why the hell did they name her the Archangel, when angels have wings? So basically, it's like, this genetic mutation that only appears during death. Yes, she did die in Bucky's arms. I want to kill myself. ANYWAYS, they were more of a fail safe than anything. Hydra couldn't lose their most prized possession, if that makes any sense.
5. Jelly the Dog
Jelly is, actually, a vital part of this story. The dog (which I haven't really decided is male or female)
triggered Victoria remembering everything, even if she did say it was Steve.
6. Veterinarian!Victoria
Victoria's father was actually a veterinarian, his business only growing when WWII started. The need for animals to get taken care of drastically increased as soldiers began recruiting canine companions to assist in the battlefield. Hydra, actually, knew this, trying to specifically adding a mutation that had no killer purpose other than to tease the Archangel. A bit of herself, dangling on a hook she didn't know existed.
7. CATWS
I originally planned to have this story take place in between the end of TWS and the beginning of CW. I feel like that would've shortened the book even more, though, so I decided to base it off a movie. Stupidest thing I've ever done. I would punch myself whenever I closed my browser, because I'd lose my place in the movie.
8. Ultimate BROTPness
Technically speaking, Vic knew Bucky before Steve did. Only for like,,, 5 minutes, tho, so it's super insignificant.
9. code name kids next door
I actually considered making Victoria's codename Arrowhead, making her signature weapon a bow and arrow like Clint. It is mentioned in one of the chapters she knows her way around one.
10. Daisies
The reason Victoria likes daisies is because that was the first flower she saw when she came from America. She kept it a secret until she was a teenager, when Bucky demanded to know what her favorite flowers were so that he could get her a bouquet. Or steal one. The boys were crafty.

Victoria had, begrudgingly, asked them for help getting a guy to ask her out, and Bucky had, begrudgingly, accepted. All 3 friends had agreed on the jealously trick, Victoria walking into a party with Bucky on her arm, as suave as ever. The trick worked, only for Bucky to end up fucking the dude's shit up a week later because he cheated with the girl next door to Bucky. The guy had, unexpectedly (to Victoria, anyways) broken up with her the next day, shamefully hiding his black eye.
11. Abusive
Pre-Hydra!Victoria could actually be considered abusive, if you thought about it. She was brash, at times, and tended to hit on boys more than she ought've. Mostly, it was a part of her underestimating her own strength and some people (James Buchanan Barnes) gettin hurt.
