Four: Star Sirius

"Ladies, welcome to star Sirius." The Doctor opened the doors of the TARDIS revealing the illuminating glow of a star.

A soft gasp escaped Amy as she slowly stepped toward the entrance, head tilting at the bright beauty. Throughout all the other stars I had seen, this one had to be the prettiest. Taking small steps forward so I was side by side with Amy, the two of us looked at Sirius placed in a small star system full of many other wondrous beauties.

Muspelheim was a world full of only fire, lava, and rock. No plants other than the lava plant was able to grow there and scarce amounts of water were available. Even so, the already scarce amount of water was boiling hot.

The harsh environments never affected the population all that much as other than my brother and I, it was full of fire demons, and fire demons thrived in the heat. Of course, my twin brother was the God of Destruction and along with being raised in that temperament, he never had any problem with it. Physically, I was always fine in the heat, after all, I am the Goddess of Fire, but that didn't mean I particularly enjoyed it.

Every few months on Muspelheim the stars would become visible for just a few hours; however, I remember always looking forward to those few hours every couple of months—the stars were something indescribable to me. They meant hope, hope that there was more than just fire and rock, hope that there was more than just training and torture, hope that there was true love out there.

I was correct, there was so much more to this universe than just fire and rock. There was life, there was happiness, it was more than just torture and training to be the best killer of them all. There was freedom and happiness and love.

I loved my father and brother, no doubt about it. However, it wasn't enough to keep me in that horrible place, it wasn't enough to keep me linked down as princess of Muspelheim. Some days I missed my family, other days not so much. Regret was never a feeling I felt after leaving, leaving was the best option.

If I had stayed, I don't even want to think about the person I could have become. Today, I may be crude and outright mean sometimes, that personality was the formation of being raised by a sadist father and only ever hanging around my sadistic twin. Had I stayed, I had no doubts that I would have become a much worse person, I may have even ended up just like them.

The stars were my escape route, the stars were responsible for making a woman instead of a monster. The stars saved many lives in leading me out of Muspelheim, the stars lead you to different galaxies and planets and peoples. The stars were a hymn for hope and hope was what I believed in.

"It's so beautiful!" I was thrown out of my thoughts by Amy's eyes welling with tears and the Doctor walking in between us placing a hand on each of our shoulders.

The three of us stood for minutes just watching the star burn bright, glowing with life.

Life.

What a funny word, life. Life has so many different meanings and was different to so many creatures.

"It really is." I was surprised to hear the Doctor reply to Amy's statement, I was even more astonished to find that the Doctor was watching me.

Curiosity leaked from my gaze as I turned to him, the Doctor jumping in surprise at my sudden change in focus. However, he only blushed a bright pink clapping his hands together as he quickly shut the TARDIS doors.

"Okay, gorgeou– I mean Effie!" The Doctor yelped at his own mistake, and I only watched his flustered state with amusement. "We saw a star, now I believe a real adventure is in order, how about a visit to..." The Doctor trailed off scratching his head in thought.

Amy unexpectedly frolicked up to the Doctor, excitement leaking through her gaze. The Doctor watched her approach with a cautious look plastered across his face. "Dinosaurs!" She shouted, the Doctor's eyes lighting up alike to hers as he leaped in the air, grabbing her shoulders.

"Yes! Dinosaurs!" He yelled right back the two jumping around like excited animals.

While those two did whatever it was they were doing, I made my way to the console studying all the levers and buttons. Okay, I watched the Doctor fly the TARDIS four times and I was about thirty-three percent sure I knew how to fly it now. The other sixty-seven percent was confident we would crash with me piloting.

Oh well, self-confidence is key.

With that thought in mind, I nodded my head. "Okay, yeah." I gave myself a pat on the back. "I can totally do this. It's just like flying Milano, except you're a whole lot more complicated." Peter's ship that we all used was named Milano after his favorite 80's teen heartthrob, whatever that meant.

The TARDIS only purred in response, something the Doctor didn't notice as he was too busy flapping about with Amy. The TARDIS seemed to like me, so I took her small noises as a noise of approval.

"I am great," I repeated to myself before quickly doing what the Doctor always did to take off.

Almost immediately after the TARDIS began shaking and the lights flickered. "What are you doing!" The Doctor shouted, racing over to try and pull me away from piloting the TARDIS.

I scoffed, rolling my eyes at him. "Obviously, I'm taking us to the dinosaur times." I was about to press a lever that the Doctor always does, but a sudden thought occurred to me.

Every time after the Doctor pulled the lever, the TARDIS shook really bad, it was at the same time that I noticed blue switches the Doctor never seemed to press. They almost looked like...
stabilizers.

Once that thought hit me, I shoved my way out of the Doctor's grasp pressing the blue switches which cause for the TARDIS to stop shaking. I rolled my eyes looking at the Doctor who only examined me with pure astoundment, Amy held a similar look but her eyes kept shifting between the Doctor and me.

"Those are stabilizers and you never use them." I accused with a small scowl, the Doctor only turning his head to look at the stabilizers and myself pointing back and forth.

"They're just blue though." He muttered with a dazed look, shaking his head.

I walked around the console to grab the scanner. "Yes, they're blue stabilizers." The time waves outside the TARDIS looked odd, and the lighting was a bit alarming. No wonder the TARDIS always shook so much without the stabilizers, she was always getting hit by lightning. "Honestly, you've been flying this thing for how long?" The Doctor only glowered at me, shoving me out of the way successfully this time.

He bounced around the console, making it a point to turn off the stabilizers so we shook once again. "Ah, that's better."

Amy laughed a bit, while I only narrowed my eyes at the madman. "Are you serious right now?" The Doctor smirked my way, flipping a few more levers, me paying close attention so I knew exactly how to fly the TARDIS and recognizing what he was doing wrong.

Peter and Rocket may have been better pilots than I, but it wasn't by much, I was a damn good pilot. Great, in fact. The Doctor on the other hand, well I won't go there. Flying the TARDIS would come quickly to me, and I think the Doctor knew that too which was precisely why he wasn't letting me fly it.

When I tried walking back over to assist him piloting, he scolded me forcing me back to the seat. "I could have landed her in half that time." I smugly crossed my arms when the TARDIS was finally landed and the Doctor turned to me furiously.

His long legs were quick to carry him up to me so we were chest to chest, him looking to me with narrowed eyes. "Oi, how do you know how to fly a TARDIS." A snorted escaped me as I patted him on the chest, shaking my head.

"Oh no, I didn't know how to fly a TARDIS, but it kind of came naturally after watching you do it a few times." I shrugged, gazing at the control panel. "It's basically a much more complicated version of any other spacecraft." The Doctor's eyes twinkled as he took in my reasoning, and I could spot a smile threatening to break loose on his lips.

"And where did you learn to fly a spaceship?" Raising a brown, I pointed to myself.

"Uhh... hello? Raised by Ravagers in space." Actually, I've had over two-hundred years to learn.

The Doctor only gave a brilliant grin, grabbing my arms and Amy's along the way as he leads us to TARDIS doors. "Welcome, to the age of dinosaurs." The doors opened only to reveal a younger version of planet Earth.

Green infecting every inch of land and air that was entirely pure to breathe was inhaled in my lungs. We had landed in a meadow of obviously extinct flowers, just a few feet away was a large blue body of water stretching miles and miles.

"Wow!" Amy was the first to step out of the TARDIS looking at the world in wonder. "The Earth is so magnificent without everything." She breathed before falling to ground laughing at the feel of the soft grass. "You guys need to try this!"

I wasn't able to reply as I was abruptly tackled to the ground, the Doctor laughing from his place over me. He was leaning over me so we were eye to eye, body over body. Amy was right, the grass was wonderfully soft.

The Doctor looked to me with his green eyes wide and lit with life as he chuckled, me frozen in shock. Once the initial shock was done and over I was quick to roll over changing our positions so now I was the one on top.

I giggled at the Doctor's flustered look, quick to jump into a standing position observing the beautiful surroundings. Earth in its natural form was so amazing.

"C'mon, let's go explore!" Amy raced off in a random direction me following directly after, the Doctor scrambling off the ground to catch up to us.

I followed after Amy and unable to stop myself ran straight past her. As a Goddess, speed, and cardio were on my side. Earth was a magnificent place in general, but when it was in its youth it was probably the most beautiful planet out there.

In the background, I could vaguely hear the Doctor yelling at me to slow down, but Amy and he were shoved to the back of my mind as I excitedly raced through nature at unprecedented speeds. As I ran it was like everything moved past me in slow motion.

I could see it all, feel it all. How the sun hit just in the right direction that it perfectly lit up the tree land. A flower blooming right before my eyes, or how a spider spun its silk into an intricate web.

A loud laugh left my mouth as I continued on my trek, it wasn't until I realized I had been running way too fast for too long that I came to a sudden standstill. Frantically, I looked behind me only to see the Doctor and Amy far behind unable to keep up.

Shit.

I bit my lips waiting until they finally approached Amy out of breath and the Doctor looking as if running was his everyday life. He tilted his head looking to me, slight confusion lingering underneath. "Great stamina you have, Effie." He smiled, before waving a warning finger in my face. "But please, never do that again. Almost had a hearts attack when I thought we would lose you." Before I could respond, Amy caught our attention as she took a step forward.

"Guys." She breathed eyes focused on something behind us.

The Doctor turned curiously following her gaze, eyes widening upon the sight we were met with. In front of us lay a valley of huge dinosaurs with long necks, I had no clue what they were called but the Doctor seemed to.

"Diplodocus." He exclaimed taking a step forward, a wide grin falling into place with his lips. "The gentle giants!"

"This is spectacular." Were the only words I was able to muster as I watched the scene of dinosaurs in front of my very eyes.

________
________

"Doctor, what country are we in exactly?" Amy questioned as the three of us hiked around the wonderful world.

The Doctor taking a look around at the colorful leaves before shrugging. "Can't be for certain, but I believe we're somewhere in mid-North America." The Doctor answered as he gazed around at nature.

The two walked little ways in front of me discussing the different facts about the Earth at this time, well the Doctor was more explaining to Amy the different facts. A small hum left me as the wind blew through my hair, leaves blowing just in front of my face causing me to stop and admire the colors.

Looking back to where the Doctor and Amy were walking, a small smile was placed on my lips. The Doctor in his bow tie, suspenders, and tweed jacket walking in the midst of the early Earth. It was a moment that should be recorded in history, something that should be painted down.

The image of the Doctor walking along with Amy would be forever imprinted in my mind, it wasn't that it was a necessarily important moment, it was just a second that I would always remember as one of the many adventures the Doctor took us on.

"So, Effie," I was surprised when Amy turned to me with a grin. "Were you raised on a planet or..."  I got a thoughtful look trying to remember how Peter said he was raised.

"Well, no. The Ravagers live on a huge spaceship, that's where I was mainly raised. Though, I have been to many planets with them—Xandar, Knowhere, and a few other places." The Doctor sighed at some of the names looking to Amy and me with a grin.

"I haven't been to Xandar in a while but it is a lovely planet, perhaps I should take you two there at some point." My heart pounded at that, if he took us there I would be recognized immediately.

The Guardians and I mainly went to Xandar, going there was not a good idea. Playing it off as cool, I gave him a simple smile nodding in agreement hoping he would forget all about it. It wasn't until we got to the TARDIS later that night, that exhaustion seemed to hit us full swing.

I was tired myself, so I couldn't imagine how Amy and the Doctor felt considering they just went from defeating Daleks to when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

"Oi, where are you two going! We can go somewhere else!" The Doctor yelled before he yawned.

Amy and I turned around seeing as the Doctor looked half asleep and yet ready party all the same. "I got this." I muttered, Amy nodding as she turned back around going to her room.

Speeding over to the Doctor, I grabbed his wrist forcing him with me down the hall to his bedroom. "C'mon, you big lug." The Doctor childishly protested as I forced him down the hallway.

"No!" He tried pulling away but failed miserably due to exhaustion. "I don't want to sleep, we can explore another planet, or hey, don't the sixteen hundreds sound fun?" Rolling my eyes, I opened his bedroom door shoving him in his room.

His room was odd, multiple clocks of different kinds hung all over his wall along with portraits and photos of different men. The men were who I could only assume to be him in past generations; however, one picture in particular hung right above his bed, was of him currently.

The floppy brown hair, big green eyes, tweed jacket, and bow tie, yep that was definitely the Doctor.

Next to his portrait was another photo of a different man. This man had a mop of scraggly brown hair accompanied by a pair of warm chocolate eyes. His features were sharp, and he looked as if nothing got past him.

Good thing I was with this generation of the Doctor, I wonder how long ago that generation of him was anyway.

Wallpaper decorated as the galaxy adorned the walls making the room darker than normal, and random bow ties with shoes were strewn across the ground. Not to mention the variety of the trinkets and knickknacks sitting around.

Why the hell did he have a metal dog?

I pulled the muttering Doctor, who was on the brink of sleep into his bed, smiling when he curled up on the bed allowing his eyes to flutter closed.

"We could go to a nebula or a planet or a fish finger and custard restaurant..." His voice trailed off in a sleepy tone as he drifted off in record time.

Small snores left him and not wanting to disturb him I made my way to the door. It wasn't until I grabbed the door handle that I heard it. "Effie..." The Doctor mumbled in his sleep making my eyes go wide, turning around to face the dead asleep Timelord, I deemed it as just my imagination. "Effie..." He repeated and I knew it wasn't just my imagination.

Not knowing what else to do, I darted out the door closing it behind me.

"Damn."
