Malakai stood over Valencia's chair that she leaned over in. She was counting money faster than he could comprehend as the man who tried to steal from them sat tied to the chair across from them.

"What do you want to do with him?"

"Leave him for the Doctor," Valencia muttered. Kai sighed and brushed her hair over her shoulder, his mate shivered before freezing at his gentle touch.

"Must've been a good meeting with your boss," Valencia said under her breath. He was oddly peaceful at the moment.

"I can get information from him without the Witch Doctor," Kai huffed. Val rolled her eyes, spoke too soon.

"I have a feeling your way is bloodier than his way. Besides I made this money off of him, so the people coming after it are technically his problem."

"I don't know if that's how it works," Kai scoffed.

Suddenly in a puff of smoke the Witch Doctor stood in the entrance of the office.

"Is that my dirty laundry I see tied in the corner?" He grinned at the man who screamed behind the gag in his mouth.

Valencia smiles widely at the orange haired man. She stood up and walked away from Kai who frowned.

They hugged and the Hound grunted in displeasure. Valencia didn't bother dignifying the reaction with a response.

"I see you took the bike out."

"Mhm," Valencia took her thumb nail between her teeth in thought.

Val had changed into what looked like beige knitted sleeping shorts and a matching sweater. Malakai found himself growing even warmer as he practically salivated over her lean body.

"He knew exactly where the cash was," Valencia noted as she leaned against her desk.

"Think it could be an internal leak?" The warlock asked as Kai moved to stand behind Val.

"Not a chance, maybe someone was in here? Could've been an invisibility spell? I mean I'm shit as spells but even I could make the elixir."

"I don't smell anyone out of place," Kai finally commented as Val jumped at the close proximity of his voice.

"So either a species that don't carry a scent or they have two spells going on."

Valencia looked up when no one responded. She saw Doc staring at Malakai with squinty eyes, leaning forward just a tad. Kai was staring right back with a raised brow, leaning a way just as much.

"You smell horny," Doc commented.

Valencia spluttered out a laugh and Kai's red eyes bulged.

"And not like your usual horny. When you look at Vally of course the scent spikes every time but this is different."

Valencia was covering her mouth with both hands to muffle her laughs, her bright cheeks puffy out.

Malakai's embarrassment and irritation spiked but as soon as he looked over at his mate who was chortling with glee, the heat simmered.

The white haired man scoffed, "Mind your own fuckin' business Witch Doctor. Instead of sniffing out my mateship why don't you sniff out that bastard Victor."

"Oh trust me, my hot headed friend, I am. I will continue tracking down that hooded figure we spoke about, I have a feeling you both will have some other things to deal with in the mean time."

The two mates glanced at each other in question. Valencia trailed her eyes down Kai he wore a gray tank and black sweatpants, the Nymphs breath hitched silently before she tore her gaze away from his biceps.

She tiredly wiped at her face. "Go home Doc, take him with you."

"Yes lovely and might I add you look ravishing in your lounge wear."

Valencia smiled widely before looking at her slippers, her hair creating a curtain from seeing the blush blooming on her cheeks.

Kai, finally fed up, snarled gripping Doc's bright green collar. He shoved the shorter man towards the forgotten criminal.

"I see my time here is cut short by the angry young man. Good luck with him Vally," Doc managed to wrestle out of Kai's hold and kissed his female friends cheek before gripping the rope restraining the nuisance and disappearing.

And then there was two.

Malakai looked down at the dark haired woman. She sat down on the desk and swung her legs as she glanced back up at him.

"You're not being mean to me today," she whispered as she dropped her eyes down to his lips. They were plump and slightly chapped, taking on a lighter brown with a pink tint that brightened his pigmented skin.

Kai spotted the lust in her gaze and felt as if molten lava began stirring in his stomach.

He shut his eyes tightly as he began to feel lightheaded. Val's eyes widened and she quickly stood to catch his swaying body.

"Kai?" she wrapped an arm around his torso and reached up to grip his cheek. She hissed at the heat he was emitting but her brow furrowed at the lack of pain after.

"'M just tired," he mumbled as he began to sag over her. She squealed as his weight began over powering her.

"Don't pass out again, I know the first one was my fault but just wait until we get upstairs."

"You're really hot," Valencia noted as they began stumbling up towards her home.

There was a pause before Kai scoffed, a chuckle bubbling in his throat.

"If we're being honest you're much hotter than I am."

Val's eyes popped open as she reached for her keys, "That's not! Oh- Well... thanks but I disagree!"

"Yeah?" he gave her a sly smirk with low lidded eyes as he leaned against the doorway.

"Stop flirting with me it's weird," she muttered as she unlocked the door.

"Isn't..." he paused to swallow as his eyes drifted shut drowsily. "Isn't that what I'm supposed to do?"

Valencia was conflicted with his answer. Was he trying to please her to get something now? Or was he genuinely confused?

Her thoughts were cut off as his body suddenly began crashing down over her much smaller one. Valencia's scream was cut off as they tumbled to the ground haphazardly.

The woman groaned as she rolled the heavy man off of her, "c'mon you idiot." She began dragging him to her bed for what seemed to be the millionth time. It was going to be a long night.

hihihi! so excited to be posting again. I'm hesitant to take down the hiatus but we will see how it goes! I will be posting more for sure!
