Five
Malakai sat stiffly in Valencia's blacked out car. His chest rumbled as he leaned as far away from his mate as possible while she drove.
She absolutely refused to let him drive and had refused to speak on the ride after explaining how she met the man they were going to meet.
They raced through the city, Val looking more comfortable now than in the past 24 hours that he's seen her.
The engine roared as she shifted her gear and sped up to pass someone in the narrow street.
Malakai bit his cheek to ignore how attractive he found her skill level, he distracted himself and took note of her clothes.
She had zipped up her jumper as soon as she got close to him, her sleeves were rolled down completely.
Valencia bit her thumbnail as she rolled into a parking spot.
"Just stay behind me until we get to the Doctor."
Malakai grunted as the woman stepped out of her car, his red eyes followed her slim figure, before exiting himself.
The building they approached was dark and run down. People of all different species poured from the various exits, many of them recognizing the black and yellow car.
Valencia nodded and spared a smile for her familiar clients as Kai glared at them.
"What the hell is this place?"
"I don't ask questions, supernaturals can get what they need here and that's all I know. Everybody in this city has been a dealer for the Doctor, whether what they sold was legal or not."
"And what about you?"
Val hummed as she snatched a drink off someone's tray, grabbing hold of the zipper from her jump suit.
"I sell the necessities, meds for species that the humans don't produce, maybe comfort things occasionally."
Valencia downed the drink in her hand as she weaved through the crowd. There was practically no light, you had to be an enhanced creature to even see three feat ahead of you.
Malakai's ruby orbs widened as Val pulled the zipper of her front down, exposing her bra clad torso.
Granted it was a sports bra, but in his mind it was all the same.
"What the hell-"
Val ruffled her hair a bit before she opened a door. While Kai was distracted she had led them down an abnormally empty hallway to a heavy metal door.
"It's Valencia," she announced in her soft voice. Malakai stopped closely behind her, towering over her shoulder as he examined the new territory.
It was an office that reeked of marijuana, smoke clouding the room just slightly. Papers were strewn across surfaces, his Hound was pacing in his mind.
His demon didn't like new places with a new mate. He wanted his mate somewhere secure where he can have his way with her. He felt his hands begin to twitch as instinct fought his mind.
Suddenly a man was in front of them.
He had chestnut skin, it was dull and had gray undertones. He had small rounded glasses, they were completely black and reminded Malakai of his sister for a moment.
His suit was gray with a black vest dawning his lean physique. A matching over coat was delicately laid on his shoulders.
His pin straight hair was a bright, unnatural orange that his bow tie matched. A cigar was pinched between two fingers.
"Vally! My lovely girl how are you? Oh, would you take those silly sleeves off, you know I hate it when you cover my work up." He gestured to the tattoo, done by him, on her arm
Kai snarled loosely as the Doctor pulled the top half of his mates jumper down completely, tying it around her hips himself.
The Doctor held her left forearm up and smiled at her tattoo. Once he was done examining the ink that Kai hadn't even gotten to appreciate, magic eyes met his own as his glasses slipped down.
The mans eyes were swirling with what looked like molten amber, different colors sparking in the mix.
"And you've brought a dirty Hound with you. Oh, poor girl getting stuck with such an ungrateful mate," Doc pouted at his friend and took her under his arm.
Valencia's breath hitched, Doc always knew so it was pointless hiding it. She leaned into his hug and accepted his comfort.
"Hands to your fucking self."
Kai had wrenched Valencia away from the orange haired man. He immediately let go of her wrist as if it burned him, before squaring off with the magic man.
The Doctor smirked and began taking the jacket on his shoulders off as Kai's skin began smoking.
"My mate needs answers, Doc."
Val's voice rang out and both men paused.
"And why should I help?"
"How do I know if you even have what I need?" Kai grunted immediately after the other man.
"Why I'm the Witch Doctor, I have everything," Doc sat in his chair with an arrogant smile.
Malakai sneered, "Is that supposed to mean something to me?"
"As the most powerful Warlock on the continent who has In's anywhere he wants, it should mean something. My word is worth gold."
"And you're slumming it in Endorphin?" Kai snorted as he stood with his arms crossed.
He looked at Valencia who met his gaze, he quickly nodded for her to stand next to him.
The nymph obeyed immediately and came to stand on his right, his demon purring in pleasure.
Malakai stared down the Warlock, his red eyes blaring as he was beginning to lose control of his temperature.
"My choices aren't your concern, honestly I'd be more worried about yourself and the path you're choosing." Swirling eyes flickered to his woman.
Kai glared at the mans foreboding words. "I just need information on a warlock named Victor. He's been teleporting rapidly which isn't something he can do on his own. He's pissed a lot of people off and he has to answer for it. When I get what I want I'm out of this fucking city."
"Valencia doesn't like leaving the city-"Doc sang before pausing.
He turned and looked hard at Malakai.
"I knew those features were familiar. I mean white hair and red eyes, very big chocolatey man, hard to miss," Doc muttered loudly.
"You're the Legions mercenary. Mister Malakai Bordoa, related to the Lycan King. God I'd lost track of the whole little team and their antics, very interesting seeing you here."
Kai shoved Valencia back, "Why the hell did you take us here if you didn't know how he felt about the Legion?" He barked at the girl.
Val's eyes widened, "I don't even know what the fucking Legion is!"
"Relax, ugh so serious. I take no sides, well- I take the winning side. It's a stale mate of a chess match. You're little League won the battle but will you win the war?" Doc smiled loosely. He folded his hands, leaning his chin on them.
"I, myself, have a bone to pick with Victor. I'd say this was a delightful turn of events."
