Zane's POV

The previous night Cole had told me what he had uncovered. About how Nya was truly a spy for her brother, Chen, and Clouse. I was unsure what to do next with this information. The reasonable thing to do would be to tell Skylor, Jay, Lloyd, Garmadon, and the rest of the elemental masters, but according to Cole he had already tried to tell Jay about Nya. He had not listened. Which lead me to my unsureness to tell the others. What if Nya some how found out? What would happen then?

I found myself thinking about all these things as I paced around my room. Cole sat on my bed as we tried to figure out what to do next.

"No matter what we decide to do," Cole began, interrupting my thought process, "I think we should tell Skylor and Lloyd. I'm pretty sure they'll be more open to this than Jay was. Once we've convinced them maybe Jay'll come around. He might've just been tired when I talked to him last night. After all, it was pretty early in the morning."

I nodded, "Sounds like the beginnings of a plan indeed."

The two of us then got up and headed out of my room looking for Skylor and Lloyd. We found them hunched over a map of the island in Lloyd's room.

"We've searched here and here," Skylor was saying, "so we should search here next. What do you think?"

She was circling and crossing out different locations on the map. Lloyd examined it and nodded.

"Can't hurt looking there." He responded.

"Sorry to interrupt you guys, but we've got some news." Cole said as we entered the room.

"It better be good news." Skylor said and I noticed dark circles under her and Lloyd's eyes. Lloyd yawned.

"You two look exhausted. Have you been getting enough sleep?" I asked.

"I've tried, but ever since Kai's gone missing I can't stop thinking and worrying about him." Skylor responded and Lloyd nodded in agreement.

Cole made sure the door was closed right and then headed over to sit at the table with Skylor and Lloyd. I followed after him.

"Well," Cole began in a hushed voice, "last night I found out where Kai is. Along with Chen and Clouse."

Lloyd and Skylor's eyes widened. "Really?" They both said in unison.

Cole nodded, "But that's not all I uncovered."

"What else did you find out?" Lloyd said.

"I found out that Nya is being mind controlled by one of Clouse's spells and is not acting and a spy for Kai. When she ran off that day ago she must've run into her brother." Cole continued, "I tried telling Jay, but he wouldn't listen to me."

"So my father and Clouse are working for Kai?" Skylor asked.

"It appears so." I responded, "Kai must've made some sort deal or blackmailed them."

"I bet they're only working for him because Kai has the Staff of Elements. If my father has the chance to steal it from him he will, and once he does it won't matter what deal he made with Kai. He'll turn against him. We've got to stop and help Kai before something like that happens." Skylor said.

"I agree," Cole nodded.

"I as well." I said.

"We've got to convince Jay somehow, and break the spell on Nya. If we're going to try and go against Kai, we're going to need all the help we can get." Lloyd stated.

We all nodded in agreement.

"Then right now we should go tell Garmadon and the elemental masters. Afterwards, we can find Jay and apprehend Nya. We cannot have her running freely while still under the influence of Kai." I spoke.

"We should probably deal with Nya first before she has the chance to report back to Kai again. He's planning something. I know it." Cole told us.

We all agreed to go find Nya first before anything else, so we headed out of Lloyd's room and down the halls. We split up: Lloyd with Skylor and Cole with me and went throughout the temple looking for the Samurai X.

Cole and I headed outside and spotted Nya talking to Jay on a bench by the temple's wall. We headed their way. Jay stopped talking for once when he saw us approach.

"Hey, Zane, Cole, what's up?" Jay asked when he arrived in front of the bench.

"We were looking for Nya. We'd like to have a word with her," I replied to Jay.

"Ok then. Nya w—" Jay was cut off by Nya abruptly standing up and taking ahold of Jay. She then wrapped her arm around Jay's throat. A knife in her hand.

"Do anything and I'll kill him." Nya told us. Her expression showing no emotion.

"You wouldn't actually kill, Jay. Come on now. Under a spell or not, you wouldn't harm him." Cole responded.

Nya used the knife in her hand and made a small cut on Jay's throat. Nothing too serious though. Jay gave a frightened yelp when Nya cut him.

"Try me."

Both Cole and I froze. We needed to do something. We couldn't let Nya kill or seriously injure Jay, but we couldn't let her escape either. I frantically tried thinking of a way out of this situation. P.I.X.A.L was trying her best to assist me as well.

"Now," Nya spoke interrupting my thought process, "Jay told me how you two know about me. Who else knows?"

"No one," I lied.

"Ok then. I'm going to leave and neither of you are going to stop me. If you do, I swear I'll kill Jay. Understand?" Nya told us.

We both nodded. Nya pushed Jay to the ground and started running. She didn't get very far though. Both Cole and I had the same idea; as soon as Jay was on the ground we tackled Nya. She struggled against us. I looked over at Jay who was laying on the cement. A look of horror, confusion, and shock was on his face. He touched the cut on his neck then looked at the blood from the wound on his fingers.

"Jay," I said, "you must get up and go find Skylor and Lloyd! Tell them what happened!"

Jay still sat on the ground in shock, "She...she was going to kill me...Nya was going to kill me."

"Jay! Get yourself together! Listen to me! It's imperative that you—" searing pain engulfed my cheek, and my grip on Nya loosened. She squirmed free of me and kicked Cole in the stomach, taking off towards the jungle.

"She got you good, man. You've got a dent." Cole said, observing what Nya's fist had done to my cheek.

"Now is not the time. We need to catch her!"

The two of us got up, and leaving Jay behind took off after Nya. We chased her through the jungle over fallen trees, tripping through the undergrowth, dodging under low-hanging tree branches until finally Cole was able to leap forward and tackle Nya.

The two of them fell to the ground again. I stopped next to them. Despite being out of breath Cole did a good job at restraining Nya. Although, at the same time it seemed that she wasn't fighting back anymore. In fact, Nya smiled in Cole's grasp and started to chuckle.

Then it hit me, "She lead us here. It's a trap! We need to get out of here before Kai comes. Come on, Cole! Get up!"

Cole stayed put, "I- I can't move. I'm trying to get up but I can't!"

Then I noticed it. Ice was forming around Cole's legs and arms, keeping him from moving. I took a step backwards and tripped. My left foot was encased in ice as well. As my body crashed to the jungle floor I felt ice creep up into me, trapping me as well. Nya had managed to get away from Cole by now and had stood up. The trees rustled in front of us and a moment later Kai stepped out, the Staff of Elements in his hand. Clouse stepped out beside Kai on his right side and Chen stepped out onto Kai's left.

"Excellent work, Nya. You brought not one, but two of the ninja to me! Neither are Lloyd, but I can work with these two." Kai said.

"Kai! Please, stop this madness! We are your friends! Not your enemies!" I pleaded with him.

"Silence you tin can! I'm not your friend!" Kai shot back. He then turned to Clouse, "Feel free to work your magic on the pair of them. I could use them."

Clouse nodded, "As you wish."

Cole's eyes widened, "Kai, please!"

Kai just rolled his eyes, "You're so pathetic. I already told you that I don't care. Saying 'please' a million times isn't going to save you. Now, hold still. Clouse's spells don't hurt. At least, I don't think they do."

Kai laughed, and Clouse began to chant. My head begun to spin and my eyes rolled back in my head letting my vision go black.

Finally got a new chapter out :). How'd you like it? I'm hopefully going to finish What Comes Next soon so then I can focus on this fanfic more.
