Chapter 10.5
First day of school. Kill me
Elizabeth ran into the Bunker shouting Dean's name as she rushed down the steps. Dean and Kevin looked up, eyebrows furrowed. "Hey, hey, calm down. What's wrong?" His gaze traveled down to her clothes. They were tight, but they were white and red. Libby never wore white. It got dirty too easily, she always said. Elizabeth sucked in a deep breath and steadied her heart rate before speaking.
"I don't trust the angel in Sam." Dean stared at her in confusion. Libby had been with Castiel when he called Dean about Ezekiel's death. Libby hadn't said anything. She only hauled ass to the Bunker. "The angel in Sam, I know his name. I know the angel and he trusts me." Dean's eyes widened.
"How long have you known?" he demanded. Elizabeth shook her head.
"Not long. Only a couple of hours." She ran a hand through her hair. "I found out behind the bar. Metatron confronted him and—" Elizabeth cut herself off when Sam walked in. She wasn't sure if Gadreel had heard her or not. Dean glanced between the two before grabbing onto both of their wrists and pulling them into a separate room where they had all of the sigils painted on the walls.
Dean pulled out a knife and sliced his hand before slapping it on the sigil. The sigil ignited in a fiery light. Sam turned around and stared at Dean with wide eyes. "What's going on? What are you doing?" he questioned, slowly backing away. Elizabeth watched in curiosity.
"I got to tell you some stuff fast. It's gonna piss you off," Dean told him.
"Okay?" Sam and Elizabeth exchanged glances.
"Those trials really messed you up." Sam rolled his eyes.
"Yes, I know that, Dea—"
"No, you don't," Dean interrupted hurriedly. They were limited on time before the sigil died out and Gadreel could listen in again. "I mean messed you up like almost dead. No more birthdays, dust to dust. Well, that messed me up, so I made a move, okay, a tough move about you without talking it over because you were in a coma."
"Wait, what? When?"
"You were in the hospital, okay, and they said you were gonna die."
"What did you do?" Sam demanded. Dean paused, his mouth moving speechlessly for a moment.
"I let an angel in."
"In what?"
"In you. He said he could heal you and he is," Dean told him. Sam's eyes widened.
"He's still in me? Wait." Sam laughed. "That's impossible, Dean. That couldn't happen. I never invited him in."
"I tricked you into saying yes. It seemed like the only way," Dean defended before Sam could yell at him. Elizabeth ducked her head down as Sam sighed, turning away.
"So...again. You thought I couldn't handle something, so you took over!" Sam yelled.
"No, I did what I had to do! You would've never agreed to it, and you would've died," Dean roared. The youngest Winchester scowled down at him, walking towards him.
"Well, maybe I would've liked the choice, at least."
"We can do this later. You can – you can kick my ass all you want. Right now, we got bigger problems."
"Bigger?" Sam questioned in disbelief. He didn't think there was any way a problem could get bigger.
"The angel lied to me. Okay? He – he's not who he said he was. He said his name was Ezekiel. Cool guy, according to Cas, but it's not Ezekiel."
"Who is he?" Sam asked in a panic. Dean shook his head, running a hand through his hair.
"I don't know. Apparently, Ezekiel is dead. Whoever this guy is can end you in a heartbeat if he wants to, so you have got to dump him." Dean looked to Elizabeth, remembering what she had said when she rushed in. "Who is he? You said you knew him." She glanced between the two Winchesters.
"Not good," she whispered. Dean looked to Sam.
"I think you're well enough now, but you got to expel him." Sam walked right past Dean and towards the door, Elizabeth following behind. "Hey!" Dean yelled out.
Elizabeth spun around and slugged Dean in the face, not bothering to stick around to watch him fall to the floor. She looked up to Sam and nodded once before they continued out of the room.
They rushed through the Bunker, stopping when they saw Kevin leaning over the Angel Tablet. Elizabeth locked her gaze on the Tablet while Sam locked his on Kevin. "Hey, Sam, Libby," Kevin greeted. Sam slowly approached Kevin, calmly and with deliberation. "Hey, do you notice anything a little bit off about Dean lately? Between you and me, I'm a little bit worried about him." Elizabeth heard approaching footsteps and spun around to see Dean rounding the corner, rubbing his head.
"Don't worry about Dean. Dean will be fine," Sam said. He stared at Kevin for a moment before reaching out and grabbing his head. Kevin screamed out, a white light flooding out of Kevin's body.
"No! No! No! No! Kevin?" Dean rushed forward as Kevin's body collapsed to the floor. Elizabeth shot her hand out, throwing Dean against a pillar and holding him there. "Sam? Libby?"
Sam—or Gadreel—turned to look at Dean as Elizabeth smirked. "There is no more Sam." Dean gasped in pain and Elizabeth let out a giggle. "But I played him convincingly, I thought."
"Libby?" Dean choked out. She shook her head and walked around him, facing him directly. She cocked her head to the side, studying him.
"Libby's still with Cas. Don't worry, the perfect little princess is okay." She dropped her hand, Dean still pinned to the wall, and walked towards him until their faces were inches apart. "I do have to say, it's quite fun playing with you Winchesters." She grinned and her irises flickered to a coal-black. Demon black.
Dean's eyes widened. "How did you..."
"I heard you talk with Kevin Tran tonight," Gadreel said. Elizabeth walked away from him and over to Gadreel's side. "Alter a sigil, even the slightest..." Gadreel took the two Tablets and slid them into a white backpack. "Alter the spell." He held up his hand to show the green dust of the sigil on his fingers. "Sorry about Kevin, but ultimately—" Gadreel walked over to Kevin's body. "—it's for the best. I did what I had to." Gadreel placed a yellow card on Kevin's chest, his name scrawled neatly in silver across the paper.
Elizabeth released Dean and he stumbled, just barely catching himself. "Tell the princess that I'll be back for her soon," Elizabeth said to Dean. He stared up at her with such hatred and rage in his green eyes. Elizabeth smirked. "Nadia and I will be waiting in Heaven. Until then, Dean."
Gadreel and Elizabeth exited the Bunker, backpack in hand. The minute they stepped outside, the bright light blinding them for a moment, Nadia looked up. "Do you have it?" she asked. Elizabeth shook her head.
"No. I didn't get any time before Sam came back." She looked up to Gadreel. "I'm just glad you caught on and didn't out me." Gadreel clenched his jaw and scowled down at Elizabeth.
"I know Libby. I know the difference between you and her," he told her through gritted teeth. Elizabeth chuckled and nodded.
"Of course you do. You knew the perfect little archangel. Well, guess what, Gadreel? You lost her when you sided with Metatron." Nadia eyed Gadreel warily. She wasn't sure if they could trust him or not. "I do hope you play carefully and wisely when it comes to being a double agent for Nadia and I. I don't wish to kill you."
"I will not betray you, Elizabeth. Although, I do hope that you will remerge with Libby when you take your throne. She makes a good ruler." Elizabeth chuckled, shaking her head.
"You always were too soft, Gadreel. It's a shame that you were imprisoned for all eternity. You would've made a good second-in-command for God and Libby." He cocked his head to the side in confusion. "What? No one ever told you?"
"Told me what?" Nadia and Elizabeth exchanged glances.
"Libby was meant to take God's place when the time comes. We trusted you, Gadreel. You did a lot for us in our time." He nodded curtly. He had warned her of her banishment. "I thank you for that, especially after what you did."
"If I hadn't let the serpent slip in by mistake then you would not even be here, Elizabeth. Nadia wouldn't have traded sides and the angels wouldn't have been corrupted." Elizabeth grew bored of his words and sighed, patting his chest.
"Be careful, Gadreel. You're carrying precious cargo." She eyed Sam's body. "I wouldn't want my soulmate to get hurt, now, would I?"
