Lacey's POV

Jack looks at me and I motion with my eyes for her to leave. She gets the message and scurried away. Jace just stands there, staring at me intently. I move closer to him but he doesn't move.

I roll my eyes and pull his face closer to mine and smashing my lips on his. He doesn't respond for a few seconds so I pull away, slightly disappointed.

I start to walk off when he grabs my wrist and spins me around. He grabs my face and kisses me softly. I instantly respond by kissing back. He smiles and pulls away, leaving his forehead on mine.

"Why'd you kiss me? I thought you would reject me." He says quietly.

"I heard you and Jack talking and I thought about it. We're mates for a reason, and just because our genes are different doesn't mean we can't give it a go."

"So you're giving me a chance?" He asks hopeful.

"Yes. But I want to go slow. I don't to do the mating thing and suddenly be Luna in just one day."

"You got it. So, can I take you out say Friday at 8?"

"I'd love that." He pecks my cheek and laces our fingers together and we walk to class, which started 20 minutes ago, oops.
