Chapter Second : Order
The only adult of the place speaks :
— Just like a blow waves the water,
Sometimes consciousness falters
Just like a new born baby gasps
Or like the heat is crowned after winter.
The world revolves and takes with it
Friendship from the past and ageless lovers
Just like the hours can tear the sails
Of the windmills when they turn unfit.
So he spoke the manly voiced silhouette as it stood up, fiercely. He gazed at the clean sky and felt for a moment the kiss of an undying sun. Children all around suddenly looked at one another, aware that something wrong was about to happen. So they all closed their little eyes and grabbed each others hands.
— You don't remember. How could you ? The cataclysm hit us so hard... right through the heart and from its invisible hand he took everything away from us. So did it take our memories. No, you don't remember anything and not even your name. But as long as I will be there, nothing will ever happen to you.
— But what could possibly happen ? asked a child more curious than the others.
— Well, Elouhane. Considering you are asking, i will answer. The great cataclysm suspended time. Nothing ever lives nor withers.
— You already talked about all of this, Papou. We must not touch our old bodies or others' bodies unless we want to become motionless like the statues. But the poetry you read to us every time... what does it mean ?
— You are cunning, Elouhane. And I am thankful for that. It means that all ends. Well, it actually means that all used to end. But not now, not anymore. Just think two worlds are existing in the same time.
— How ?
— Well... when you were feeling sleepy you went to sleep, isn't it ?
— Yes...
— So now it is like you are awake and sleeping in the very same time.
— Huh...
— But it is not possible, Papou ! cried another little voice.
— Well it was impossible but nowadays you must think that way.
— Papou... if nothing ends... we will remain kids forever !
— Precisely, and I will always be your old man.
— You will always be our Papou, for sure ! But you're teaching us so many things that one day... we will think just like you do ! Isn't it ?
— Indeed, Elouhane. You are the most brilliant little girl among that group.
— Papou ! Why are you the only adult ?
— I cannot tell you yet, Alice. But I promise, my dearest children, the time will come for you to know.
