Chapter 12:

"Alright," Riven said over  the noise and the girls stopped talking.

Did they have to chat every second they got?

"We're here to train you in some special skills that you may need in case you don't have your magic to help."

"But we do have our magic!" Stella said and a couple of other confused girls nodded and agreed.

"Well, in case you don't," Riven said patiently.

"But we do!" Stella stressed, "Why would we not? Will we ever get into a situation without it?"

Riven gritted his teeth.

"This is merely to help you to be able to fight even without your magic," Helia replied calmly beside his friend, "It'll help enhance your physical abilities."

"Oh," Stella nodded, "You should have said it that way."

Riven closed his eyes and slowly counted to ten.

It didn't relax him when the girls began to talk again.

The muscular man opened his eyes to see the music fairy smirking at him.

He glared at her before turning back to the class, "Alright, Stop talking."

They got quiet again and he asked them to step separately with their partners.

As he watched each girl fuss and exclaim about parting with their other friends and staying with only one, he thought about the rebellious teenaged girl.

Musa had her hair down for once and he had to admit that it suited her.

It reached down to her shoulder and waved when she moved.

Looking over at Helia, Riven realized that the Prince of Magnolia was watching the nature fairy silently.

As though sensing Riven's gaze, he looked down at his paper and began to go through the map of the school.

Riven was the least interested in his friend's business.

Flora wondered if she would be able to cope with the class.

She'd always felt like the weakest even with magic even though her friends had always denied it and told her otherwise.

What would she possibly do in a Combat Class?

In front of Helia no less!

A hundred butterflies began to flutter  in her stomach and the nature fairy's eyes furrowed in worry.

"Don't worry about a thing," Musa's voice calmed her slightly, "We'll do this just fine. Besides, what better pair right?'

Flora smiled at her friend, "Right."

"Okay," Riven called for their attention with an impatient look on his face.

"Introductions. You don't need to 'coz chances are, the three of us won't see us again for about two weeks. The other guys'll be here next week."

The girls began to talk excitedly about the other boys who'd be coming and Flora noticed Riven grit his teeth.

The nature fairy and her friend giggled softly.

Helia glanced at them once before turning back to his notes.

Flora wondered how she'd heard her from all the way over by the teacher's desk.

"Listen!" Riven got their attention again, "My name is Riven."

"Hey, Riven!" The girls chorused before dissolving into giggles.

Helia glanced at his tortured friend with a slight smile.

Flora couldn't help but love him more.

"Helia." He introduced himself when Riven seemed incapable of speech.

"And I'm Nathan." The brown haired boy to Riven's right replied.

The girls either nodded or smiled.

Flora knew that right now, they're thoughts were fixed on annoying a certain red headed man.

"Outside." Riven ordered and the girls stomped out of the room immediately.

Riven, Helia and Nathan took the lead a few moments later.

The group made it's way out of the school's gates and into the forest surrounding.

After a few moments, they reached a small clearing and stopped.

Flora smelled in the heavenly scent of greenery.  She felt a stream bubble near by and living things fly around.

"You're happy," Musa muttered without turning to her as the class stood facing the boys from Red Fountain.

"Feels nice!" Flora whispered.

"Must look nice too considering that Helia guy can't take his eyes off of you."

Flora's eyes widened.

She looked up and sure enough, Helia was watching her quietly.

When their eyes met, he kept her gaze before glancing away with a slight smile.

Flora's heart lifted.

"Okay, Juliet," Musa muttered, "Time to listen to class. Look at Romeo later."

"Musa," Flora whispered with a blush before turning back to Riven.

"-ich means that we'll be watching your every move." He was saying, "You won't be in any danger. We'll make sure of that. This is just a warm up class where we'll be able to ascertain just what your physical endurance level is. You have to reach the lake at the other corner without flying or asking for directions. Don't leave your partners. Climbing trees is allowed. Any questions?"

Stella raised her hand.

"What is it?"

"What happens if my hair alignment wears off? This place is so humid!"

Riven bit down on his lip before replying while Helia  turned away smiling.

"Sorry," His voice seemed hoarse with restraint, "Not trained to help you with that."

"SO inexperienced," Stella huffed with a flip of her beautiful blond hair, causing the other girls to start freaking out about their own hair.

Musa and Flora couldn't help but laugh at Layla's expression of helplessness.

"Hey there."

They heard a boyish voice say.

The girls looked over o see Nathan walk up to them with a pleasant smile.

Musa smiled, "Hi."

Flora saw Riven jerk over to notice their little exchange.

The girls began to trickle out of the clearing.

Stella talked about asking Helia for hair tips.

Suspiciously, the young man had gone missing.

Flora smiled to herself hoping her friend wouldn't give him any trouble.

"I'm Nathan!" Nathan smiled when he reached them, "And you are?"

"I'm Musa," Musa grinned, "And this is my friend Flora."

"Hi," The other boy said, "Hope you guys do okay in the test."

"Thank you," Musa said while Flora smiled.

"I don't think you'll have any problems even if your hair turned bad," Nathan said directing his statement at Musa.

Flora looked over at her friend in pleasant surprise.

Musa looked surprised too.

"Uh, thanks! That's nice of you to say!!"

"I-"

"Enough bonding." Riven grabbed Nathan's collar from behind and began dragging him away.

Flora blinked.

Musa rolled her eyes, "We were just talking!"

"Enough talking then."  Riven muttered, disappearing into the trees.

"I can'tbelieve that guy!" Musa fumed.

"Nathan's nice," Flora said trying to take her friend's mind off things.

"Yeah," Musa said with a soft smile.

"I think he likes you." Flora said softly.

"Who, Riven?" The music fairy asked quickly.

Flora sighed.

Musa was crushing on Riven far too much to notice someone who'd just flirted oh so sweetly with her.

As the girls began their test, Flora couldn't be more happy to have someone like Musa to lean on and support at the same time.
