Chapter 11:
Flora walked down the corridor on her way to her dormitory room.
In her hand was a sheet of paper that held details of all her classes and their timings.
She pushed a strand of her hair back as she looked through it.
School had started and it had been a week already. The previous night, Flora and the other girls had sneaked out of thebuilding to go to Musa's DJ party. The night had been fun except that they'd had to leave almost immediately.
Flora smiled to herself as she remembered the suspicious look Ms. Griselda had given each of them that morning.
Stella had batted her eyelashes and had been awarded a ten minute lecture on proper etiquette.
Turning a corner, Flora bumped into Musa, the music fairy.
"Yo, Flora!" The beautiful blue haired girl yelled with a grin, "Look where your going!"
"Sorry, Musa," Flora apologized, "I was looking through my timetable and didn't see you."
"Yeah?" Musa turned around to walk beside Flora, "Check out this class called 'Advanced Portions'."
"Advanced Combat?" Flora mused as she scanned her paper, "Alright."
Musa had her hands in her pockets as she walked, "When do you have it?"
"Twice a week," Flora said in her calm, sweet voice, "Tuesdays and Thursdays."
"Great," Musa grinned, "Guess who the instructors are?"
"WHAT?!"
Helia couldn't believe what he'd just been asked to do.
The Head master looked surprised at Helia's voice.
He tried to keep his voice down.
No need to panic and create a scene.
"I said," The Head master said, "That Riven and a couple of others will be sent to Alfea a few days a week to train some chosen fairies. I'd like you to accompany them."
"But Principal," Helia said, his tone back to calm and collected, "We need to keep watch over the tower. We can't leave it unguarded."
Saladin nodded, "Yes, I know. I won't send all of you at once of course. The main point of this endeavor is to teach the fairies some new techniques. Their head mistress feels that they rely too much on their powers. They don't seem to be able to even run a distance without losing their breath."
Helia's mind brought a memory back from the previous night but he pushed it back for a moment.
"Sir..." His voice was still regal and he wondered how he would be able to finish his mission if he was being sent away from the place he was supposed to guard.
"Helia," The head master said, "My mind is made up."
He sighed once, "Also, one part of the Codex exists in the Alfea school. Of course, the students don't know that."
Helia let a few more puzzles fit in his sharp, calculative mind, "Is that why the head mistress desires that a few of her fairies are trained in skills other than magic?"
"Yes," The head master smiled at the young, good-looking prince, "You need not train them as you are to act as a pacifist but I would appreciate if you could give the fairies tips and keep an eye on their safety when their sent on forest expeditions and such. We're low on experienced men like you."
Helia thought of Riven.
The gloomy, guy struck him as someone with a rather dark past.
Of course he'd be experienced.
He'd know how to handle life threatening challenges from going through them himself.
The prince thought of the other boy with a little more respect than before.
"And, Helia?"
"Yes, Head master."
"Very few fairies were chosen for this training. Please give them everything that you can offer."
Helia nodded, "Of course, head master."
Saladin nodded, "Tomorrow at one in the evening. I'm sending you, Riven and a junior named Nathan. Is that alright?"
"Yes, sir." The Prince said.
As he left the head master's room, he wondered if Flora would have been chosen for the special training.
Stroking his silky hair, he thought not.
If anyone were against violence, it would be the gorgeous nature fairy.
As Helia walked down the corridor, he couldn't help but think of how beautiful she'd looked as she'd stared up at the stars in her pretty, little pink dress.
He felt a corner of his mouth lift.
That was, of course, before she'd bumped into him in the alley with her friend as her group of girls had run for their lives from the teacher in charge of discipline.
"Belive me, Flora," Head mistress Faragonda told the brunette in front of her, "You were chosen to take part in the Advanced Class of Combat because you have potential."
The girl still looked unsure.
Ms. Faragonda knew how sweet Flora's mind worked.
She wanted no part of combat classes and was afraid of fights but at the same time didn't want to let her teachers and friends down.
The Head Master smiled a kind smile, "You'll make us proud. It's a way for you to become stronger so you can protect your friends."
Flora's troubled face eased a little, "Alright, Ms. Faragonda. I'll take the classes."
The head mistress nodded before smiling slightly at Musa who stood in the background.
Now there was a girl who would love this class.
She just hoped Musa wouldn't give the instructors any trouble.
And then there was Stella who the teachers had hesitantly put in the class.
Ms. Faragonda's head creased.
"Principal...?"
"I'm alright, girls," The lady said, "Go on to class."
The two students left her room and the old, kind head mistress leaned back into her chair.
Layla, Musa and Stella with Flora in a Combat Class tutored and seen over by top boys from Red Fountain.
What a tiring and rather frightening thought.
The Headmistress thought through the girls she'd chosen.
The winx were in except Bloom and Tecna.
Stella and the other three would benefit greatly from this training.
Each of these girls had extraordinary potential which needed to be nurtured.
Of course, Faragonda had specially requested Saladin that he not send Brandon.
The headmistress thanked her stars that only Musa and Flora knew that people would be sent from Red Fountain to teach.
It did not worry her that the chief intructors would be Riven and Helia.
They seemed decent enough.
What could possible happen?
