Chapter 9

Pushing through a crowd of information hungry reporters was not how Emiri wanted to start her school day, but here she is, trying to get past a crowd of reporters who had planted themselves in front of the gates of U.A.

"You! You're in the hero course, right?" A reporter asked as she shoved a microphone in Emiri's face. "The Symbol of Peace— what's he like as a teacher?"

"O-Oh? A-A-All Might? Emiri stuttered. She could see the doors of U.A just beyond the gate, she had gotten so close to getting through the crowd of reporters without being stopped. "H-He's a good t-teacher I guess. A-A little L-loud and o-over the t-to-top for a teacher but n-no-not terrible. Now may I pass, please?"

The microphone was pressed further towards her, "Not until you give us more information about All Might!" She exclaimed.

"I-I just want to g-get to class." Emiri said, slowly backing away, the front gate entrance was just a few feet behind her, if she went at the right time, she could easily escape the reporter.

"Miss! Please, any information you have would be helpful!"

"Sorry." Emiri said as she bowed and turned as she made a run for it, getting through the gates and not stopping until she was safe inside the building, glancing behind her to see that the reporters were already questioning another poor student— a gignger haired girl with a side ponytail.

"Got caught by the reporters too, ribbit?" A voice asked and Emiri looked behind her to see Tsuyu walking towards her.

She nodded, "T-They're really persistent."

"You got that right. They all want to know about All Might."

Emiri nodded, "Guess that's what i-it means too b-be the number 1 h-hero."

Tsuyu nodded. "We should get to class, we don't want to make Mr. Aizawa mad by being late."

"R-right!"

As they were walking to class, a buzz sounded through the school and the two of them looked out of the window to see that all of the entrances had been blocked off with metal gates. U.A's security protocol— if anyone without a school I.D or a guest pass tried to get in through the gates it would activate and block every entrance around the school's perimeter. One of the reporters must of tried to get in.

Continuing on, they soon got to the classroom, the bell rung and they watched Mr. Aizawa walked into the room and stand in front of the podium, starting their first period, homeroom.

"Let's get down to buisness. Our first task will decide your future."

For a moment, it seemed like the whole class had frozen, and like nobody even dared to breath. It was obvious that there was one question on their minds. Is there going to be another quirk test?

"You all need to pick a class representative."

There was a sigh of relief that made it's way around the classroom as everyone heard that it was just normal school stuff. Though the calm didn't last, and soon the room was filled with noise.

People were raising their hands left and right, all volunteering for the job. Emiri watched the chaos with her hand raised halfway up into the air. She knew that being class rep would help her obtain her goal, but the determination (and shouting) of everyone around her was almost overwhelming.

"Silence, everyone, please!" Iida shouted, getting the class' attention. "The class representative's duty is to lead others. That's not something just anyone could do. You must first have to trust of every student in the classroom, therefore the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader."

Emiri let out a quiet laugh. It was pretty obvious that Iida wanted to be class rep himself, going by how he was raising his hand so high in the air above him that it was starting to shake with the strain he was putting on it.

"Is this really the best idea?" Kaminari asked.

"We've only known each other a few days. How do we know who we can trust?" Tsuyu asked.

"Besides, everyone will just vote for themselves." Kirishima pointed out.

"Most people will." Iida agreed, "But that means whoever does receive multiple votes must truly be the most suitable person for the job." He looked over at Aizawa, who was already zipping up his yellow sleeping bag. "Right sir?" He asked.

"Do what you want. Just decide before my naps over." He replied, falling on the ground and falling asleep.

Emiri looked at Aizawa with a deadpan expression, the question she had on the first day about when he got sleep had been answered pretty quickly. He slept when he was supposed to be teaching.

"Thank you for your trust!" Iida exlcaimed as Aizawa fell asleep.

After voting, Emiri looked up at the board, her eyes widening in total shock. Out of everyone there she had received two votes, one less than Midoriya, who had gotten three.

"How did I get three votes?" Izuku said.

"Okay you idiots! Who voted for him?" Bakugo shouted angrily, looking around the room as his hand lit up with sparks.

"What did you honestly think anyone was going to vote for you?" Sero asked.

The two reps stood at the front of the class, besides Aizawa who had woken from his nap a minute ago.

"Alright the class rep is Midoriya. Our deputy is Koyama." He stated tiredly.

Emiri looked next to her to see that Midoriya was very tense, and looking straight ahead with terror in his eyes.

"Really? It's not a mistake?" He squeaked out.

Emiri looked around at her classmates with wide eyes, "W-Why'd they pick m-me of all people?" She asked herself quietly. If she thought about it, Yaomomo was probably a better choice than her. Apparently the class thought differently.

"This might not be so bad." Tsuyu stated.

"Yeah, I could get behind Midoriya, I guess." Kirishima agreed. "And Koyama's not a bad choice for deputy either. I think they'll make a great team."

The rest of the morning classes went by as smoothly as they could with a crowd of reporters loudly asking for All Might outside the front gate. Eventually their last class of the morning ended and they were all sent to go eat lunch in the cafeteria, Emiri ended up sitting next to Uraraka, across from Iida and Midoriya.

"Guys, I'm kind of worried about the class rep thing." Izuku said, looking down at his food with a worried expression on his face. "I don't think I'm qualified."

"Sure you are." Uraraka said.

"You're going to do fine, Midoriya!" Emiri said with a small smile.

"You'll be great." Iida encouraged. "Your courage and quick thinking under stress will help make you a worthy leader. Not to mention the strength you demonstrated. Those are the reasons I voted for you at least."

"You were one of the three?" Izuku asked.

"Didn't you want to be rep really badly?" Uraraka asked. "I mean, you do look the part with the glasses."

"That's... not o-one of the qualities of being a class rep, Uraraka." Emiri said.

"Wanting a job and being suited are quite different things. Observing the Iida families hero agency has taught me that much."

"Agency?" Izuku and Uraraka asked and Emiri looked at them with confusion.

"Do you not r-recognize his quirk?" She asked.

"Hold on, what does your family do?" Izuku asked.

"Uh, oh, it's nothing." Iida said, seeming to realize that he said too much.

"You know, I've been wondering something about you." Uraraka stated. "Admit it Iida, you're filthy rich!"

Emiri let out a laugh, "There's no use h-hiding it now, Iida."

Iida seemed taken aback before he let out a sigh of defeat. "You're right, Koyama. I was afraid people would treat me differently if they knew about my family. You see, the Iida's have been pro heroes for generations, it runs in our blood."

"What? That's awesome!" Izuku and Uraraka exclaimed.

"Are the two of you familiar with the Turbo hero, Ingenium?"

"I know all about him!" Izuku exclaimed. "He's a super popular pro with 65 sidekicks working alongside him at his Tokyo agency! Don't tell me..."

"He's my elder brother!" Iida exclaimed proudly.

"Your family's famous!" Uraraka exclaimed.

"I can't believe it!" Izuku shouted.

"Ingenium is an unmatched commander who always honors the hero code. As the second oldest Iida son, I strive to be just like him. However, I think it might be soon for me to be in a real leadership role. You for example, you figured out what the judges were looking for in the practical exam. A rep needs that sort of insight."

Izuku and Uraraka were staring at him with wide awestruck eyes.

"That's the first time I've seen you smile, Tenya. You should do it more." Uraraka stated.

"What are you talking about? I smile all the time." Iida argued.

"No you don't." Emiri said, looking up from her phone where she had been messaging a friend, "I've known you for years a-and I can count the times I've seen you smile on o-one hand since I m-met you."

Iida's cheeks reddened before he adjusted his glasses, "Well, I'm not the only one here with a pro-hero family. Koyama here is part of one herself."

"Really? You are?" Uraraka asked, her eyes sparkling. "Though it makes sense since you did go to the same jr. high!"

"Who're your parents, Koyama— if you're okay with sharing that information." Midoriya said.

"I-I'm fine with it." She said, "My dad's the Weaponry Hero: Swordmaster— I get my quirk from him, my m-mom is the Heavenly Hero: Savior, o-oh and my older brother is a up and coming hero, The Guardian Hero: Gabriel."

"I've take notes on all of them!" Midoriya exclaimed with shining eyes, "Swordmaster is known for his sword techniques and ability to hit just the right spots to bring villains down! Savior and Gabriel are known for their showy quirks, Angel, which gives them the ability to manifest angel-like wings and emit a blinding light from their bodies that blind villains for easy capture!"

"Yeah. They're really talented heroes, I've heard that many times." Emiri said, and when's she says she heard it many times she means it, anyone who hears who she's related to always gush about how showy or beautiful their quirks were. Emiri could care less about that stuff, being showy or beautiful shouldn't be what makes a hero.

"Wow! You two must know a lot about being a hero then! You have to give us some pointers!" Uraraka joked.

"I would l-love to, but it'll have to wait. I just remembered I left some papers at my shoe locker when I was changing my shoes this morning." Emiri said, getting up from her seat, "I'll be right back."

"Alright, we'll be here." Uraraka said as she waved.

As she walked out of the cafeteria, an alarm started blaring. "Warning, level three security breach. All students please evacuate the building in an orderly fashion." A voice said over the intercom.

Emiri looked up at one of the speakers, "Oh, that can't be good."

The hallways were complete and utter chaos, Emiri was glad that she headed out of the school once she grabbed the papers she needed before the majority of the student body got out into the hallways, she imagined that being stuck in the hallways with the rest of the students would end with her being trampled. Currently she was standing just outside the front doors of the building alongside a few pro heroes and some other students.

She could still hear the reporters jus outside the blocked front gate, all of them shouting that they wanted answers, or All Might himself. Emiri just sighed, she hated reporters.

Since her entire family were well known pro heroes they were unable to go anywhere without at least one reporter stopping them for a picture or an interview. It made her sure of one thing, she did not want to become that kind of hero.

The alarm shut off not to soon after, and the few students who had managed to get outside were ushered back into the building by the pro heroes, though as she was brought back in, Emiri saw a giant hole in a wall around the school's perimeter out of the corner of her eye- she would have to bring the principal's attention to it. She knew for a fact that it could be a danger to the school. As she was brought back inside, she headed straight towards the principal's office.

"It was over here, Mr. Nezu." Emiri said as she lead the rodent principal and a few other pros towards the hole in the wall she had seen earlier that day.

"Oh dear. There is a huge hole in the wall!" The principal exclaimed as he raised his paws in the air. He glanced over at Cementoss and nodded, watching as the man walked up to hole and placed his hand on the wall, cement starting to fill the gaping hole. Nezu turned to Emiri and held his hand behind his back, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Ms. Koyama! I assure you that U.A is still completely safe and this issue will be looked over with a close eye! Now, you should be heading back to class, I'll write up a late pass for you!"

"Thank you, sir." Emiri said, taking the pass once he had finished writing up the pass before turning and walking back towards the school building. As she walked back, she let her mind wonder, with the hole in the wall, the reporters, and the alarm causing chaos amongst the student body it was almost as if there was a traitor among those at U.A.

Back in the classroom, Emiri discovered that Midoriya had given Iida the role of class president. Apparently Iida had calmed the panicked student body by having Uraraka float him above the crowd and getting the attention of the students, telling everyone that it was the press that had set off the alarms, and though Emiri knew that the press wasn't to blame, she assumed that the principal wanted to keep whatever happened at the wall under reps so she didn't mention anything to anyone.

Glancing at Iida as the two of them stood in front of the classroom, she smiled softly, this year was already off to an interesting start.
