Chapter 41

"R-right." Uraraka said, letting go of Emiri for a second and pressing her fingertips together, causing the white haired teen to fall flat on her feet.

Emiri took a deep breath and turned her arm into a blade, this might get ugly.

"Let's see, I've seen one of you before." The masked man said, he tilted his head and waved his finger between the two of them before it stopped and he pointed directly at Emiri. "You're the target that the boss wanted. How lucky of me to of run into you two like this! Makes my job much easier!"

"I'm not going without a fight." Emiri said.

"Of course, of course! No entertainment act is complete without a show!" The man said. "Allow me to introduce myself as the entertainer of tonight, I'm Mr. Compress!"

"Well sorry to break it to you but I'm going to have to end your show early." Emiri said, darting towards the villain and swiping at him with full intent to injure him. Though her blade was met with air as he leaned back, just barely dodging the attack. Before he could get an attack in on her she jumped away, creating a distance between the two of them.

"My my, you sure have a fighting spirit! You're not going to be an easy one!"

"What made you think I was going to be easy?" Emiri asked, a small grin making it's way to her face. She turned and looked towards Uraraka, "Hey, make some things float for me, I have an idea!"

Uraraka nodded, "R-Right!" She exclaimed, scurrying around and touching loose branches and rocks that were laying on the ground, making them float up in the air.

Mr. Compress sped towards them, and Emiri just barely dodged his hand, jumping back and landing just behind a few bits of floating debris. She changed her hand from a blade into a pole, took aim, then hit them like a batter hitting a baseball. The rubble sped straight towards the villain, but he merely jumped up into the air and dodged the attack.

"My, my, that was quite a spectacle!" He exclaimed as he hovered slight in the air just before falling back towards the ground. "But I'm afraid you'll have to try harder."

Emiri gritted her teeth as she tried to think of a plan. She knew she should try to avoid his hands because that's how he used his quirk, but she didn't know how to get an attack on him. This villain was smart— practically a genius— and his reflexes were insanely fast.

"Emiri, duck down!" Uraraka exclaimed, and Emiri glanced over her shoulder to see Uraraka holding a giant branch, she must of used her quirk to make it weightless. Upon Uraraka's command, Emiri pressed herself against the ground just as the brunette threw the branch.

Mr. Compress didn't move, and instead he just reached his hand out and pressed it against the branch, the object glowing before completely disappearing, almost as if it had never been there in the first place. Almost. In it's place there was a small orb, just about the size of a marble.

"Uraraka, his quirk! He can compress things!" Emiri shouted out, jumping back up to her feet. "We need to avoid his hands!"

"Aren't you a clever little girl! You've seen through my magic trick!" Mr. Compress said, giving an exaggerated shrug, "What can be said other than the show must go on. I'm not leaving here without getting the target."

Emiri glanced back at Uraraka, who had a look of fear on her face. It was obvious she was at a loss for what she should do. Emiri was at a loss as well, no ideas were coming to her head.

Before she knew it, there was a hand in the corner of her vision and she jumped away, skidding across the forest floor before she stopped. She was at the very edge of the path, nothing but trees and bushes behind her.

She glanced at Uraraka, who was on the other side of the clearing. "Uraraka, now!" She shouted.

Uraraka pressed her hands together, "Release!" She shouted out, and the debris that Emiri hadn't batted away started to fall towards the ground, right where Mr. Compress was standing.

"This was unexpected." The villain said just before tossing something up and snapping his fingers, the giant tree branch from before appearing in his hand as he reached over his head, holding the branch to shield himself from the raining attack. "But if you were wise you wouldn't of used the same attack that had been broadcasted on television." He threw the branch to the side and started walking up to Emiri, swinging a cane that he had in his hand. "It seems this show is nearing it's finale. What a shame, I was starting to enjoy it."

He took another step towards Emiri, before he started growing taller. No, he wasn't growing taller he was starting to float.

"Come on, Koyama! We need to get out of here and back to camp!" She shouted, reaching her hand out towards the smaller teen. Emiri glanced from Uraraka to Mr. Compress, watching as he kept floating upwards. Uraraka seemed to understand what the girl was silently asking. "I'll release him once we're gone. I'm not a villain, like him." She said.

Emiri took a deep breath and nodded, taking the brunette's hand as they started to walk through to forest path, until something whizzed past them, a sharp pain appearing on Emiri's cheek. A knife had lodged itself into a tree just in front of the two girls.

"You thought you could get away that easily?" A voice asked and Emiri turned around, spotting Toga holding onto Mr. Compress's leg, preventing him from floating up any higher. "I'm not gonna let you get away without saying goodbye, Riri! I've come all this way to see you!"

"H-Himiko." Emiri whispered.

"Now, I suggest you let go of my comrade here, Uraraka, before I make you regret it."

Uraraka didn't move, which caused Toga to throw another knife at them, this time is sliced both Uraraka and Emiri's arms.

"The boss said he wanted this girl alive, Toga, please refrain from killing her." Mr. Compress said.

"What? You believe I would kill my friend? No way! I'm trying to get to her friend, but it doesn't help that Riri is in the way."

Emiri shifted on her feet and turned to look at Toga, "H-Himiko. You don't have to do this." She said.

Toga looked at her, a grin on her face as she raised her hand, "Come on, now, why don't you release my friend here, Ochako!" She motioned towards Mr. Compress, who was still floating.

"No way." Uraraka said.

Toga looked at her as he smile faded, "You're starting to annoy me." Her voice lost the cheery tone to it, and her eyes grew harsh.

"U-Uraraka, let him go." Emiri said, her voice barely a whisper.

"What?"

"Let him go."

"But Koyama, I can't just... he's a villain! Plus what happens if he manages to catch you?"

Emiri looked over her shoulder at Uraraka, "I've seen Himiko when she's pissed. She will not hesitate with her attacks or hold back. If you keep Mr. Compress up in the air..." she trailed off, unable to finish what she was saying, but it seemed like Uraraka had gotten the clue.

The brunette pressed her fingertips together and took a deep breath. "Release."

The moment Mr. Compress' feet landed on the ground he was gone. There was a shout from Uraraka and Emiri watched as she flew across the clearing. There was a sudden splitting pain in the back of her head and Emiri stumbled, her head spinning.

The last thing she saw before she passed out was the look of terror on Uraraka's face.
