Chapter 40

Emiri shook her head, "It wouldn't burn for this long, plus we're far enough away that we wouldn't smell it even if that were the case. Come on, let's keep walking, maybe it's just Todoroki's or Bakugo's quirk."

"Yeah... maybe."

With that the two of them continued along the path, unaware of a certain blonde haired teen watching them from within the forest.
_________

As the two of them walked further into the forest, Emiri got a feeling that the smell of smoke and fire wasn't because of Todoroki or Bakugo. It was getting stronger by the second, almost as if the trees themselves were being set on fire and surrounding them.

A sudden voice in her head made the two of them stop in their tracks.

"Everyone! Two villains attacked us, and there are more coming. Everyone, return to camp immediately. We're regrouping. Do not engage any enemies!" Mandalay's voice said.

"Did she say villains?" Uraraka asked, a look of pure horror coming across her face. "You heard that too, right, Koyama?"

Emiri nodded, "Let's get back to camp. But keep an eye out, she said there were more coming. Anyone could be hiding in this forest."

Uraraka nodded and the two of them turned around, walking along the forest path as they headed back to camp. The two of them kept their hands interlocked as the continued to walk through the forest.

There was a rustle in the bushes and Emiri pulled Uraraka behind her and formed her arm into a shield, a clang sounding through the clearing as a knife hit and bounced off her shield, lodging itself in a nearby tree.

That knife, I know that knife- Emiri thought, looking from the weapon towards where there was a rustling in the bushes.

"Aw phooey. I knew you would be able to deflect it." A voice said and Emiri narrowed her eyes as a familiar teen girl stepped out onto the path in front of them, a smileon her face. "You've always been good at knowing where I was, Riri."

"Riri...? Koyama, do you know this girl?" Uraraka asked.

Emiri was quiet, her eyes locked on The girl standing in front of them. H-Himiko?

Toga tilted her head, her smile turning into a wide grin. "I never introduced myself to you, Uraraka! I'm Toga Himiko. Anyways, aren't you surprised, Riri? I knew you would be! I'm so happy to see you again, and what are the odds that you're one of our targets!"

"How do you know my name?" Uraraka asked.

"Sorry, that's probably my fault. I've told her about some of you guys." Emiri said, then a knife was thrown right at them, directed mainly for Uraraka. "Uraraka!" Emiri exclaimed as another clang sounded through the clearing as a knife imbedded itself in the ground. "If Himiko can get a drop of your blood, she can transform into an exact copy of you!"

"R-right!" Uraraka exclaimed.

Toga grinned, grabbing two more knives. "We're gonna have another sparring match? I'm determined to win this time!" She jumped forwards aiming an attack at both of the girls. One of her knives hit Emiri's shield, the other she threw towards Uraraka, who just barely dodged to attack, now having a scrape on her arm. The two of them tensed as Mandalay's voice rang through their heads.

"Listen up everyone! You have all been granted permission to use your quirks to defend yourselves against the villains by the hero Eraserhead! We've also discovered two of the villain's targets! It's a student named Kacchan, and Koyama! Kacchan, Koyama you should try to avoid combat and stick to a group. I hope you can hear me!"

"You're after Bakugo too?" Emiri asked, looking at Toga, who giggled.

"It seemed like someone talked, didn't they. I bet it was Muscular, that big meathead would totally be the type to spill valuable information. No matter, even if you know, that's not going to stop me from getting you, Riri."

Emiri gritted her teeth, "Uraraka, run ahead to camp!"

"But Koyama, you heard what Mandalay said, you shouldn't be alone, much less fight a villain alone."

Emiri shook her head, "I've fought Himiko many times before. I know how she moves and how she attacks. It's best if you leave me here to fight her. You'll just get in the way." She knew she was being harsh, but if Uraraka were here it would cause more problems than she would want.

Uraraka's eyes widened in surprise at Emiri's tone, the smaller girl had made it clear, it would be better if she ran back to camp, but she wasn't leaving without Emiri.

Emiri felt a hand on her shoulder, and immediately she felt herself become weightless as she slowly lifted up into the air. "I'm not leaving without you!" She exclaimed, grabbing onto Emiri's hand and dragging the weightless teen through the forest.

"U-Uraraka! Please, let go!" Emiri exclaimed, trying to get out of the girls grip.

"We're heading back to camp together! I don't care what you say, I can't let you fight that crazy girl alone!"

Emiri looked over her shoulder at Toga, who adjusted her mask, her eyes narrowing as the distance between the two of them got wider and wider. For a second Emiri could of sworn she saw her friend grin widely, as if she had seen something.

What Toga had been grinning at was soon revealed as the leaves above started to rustle and a man jumped out to block Uraraka's path. He had on what looked t be a magician's outfit, with a mask covering his face.

"You two didn't thin of running away before I performed my little show, did you?" The man asked.

"Uraraka, release your quirk on me." Emiri said.

"What?"

"We're going to have to fight him. I can't fight him if I can't have a solid footing."

"R-right." Uraraka said, letting go of Emiri for a second and pressing her fingertips together, causing the white haired teen to fall flat on her feet.

Emiri took a deep breath and turned her arm into a blade, this might get ugly.
