Chapter 38

The next morning Emiri woke up at the crack of dawn with the rest of her classmates. She barely had any time to get ready so all she did was change from her pajamas into her gym uniform. In front of the group was Aizawa, who looked the same as he always did, eye bags and messy hair.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen." He greeted, looking around at his tired students. "Today we will begin training camp to increase your strength. The goal of this training camp is to increase everyone's strength and with that, for everyone to obtain their provisional licenses. It is to prepare you all to face hostilities that are becoming more real by the minute. Proceed carefully."

Our provisional licenses? But normally students don't get those until their Second Year. Emiri though, could this be because of all the villain attacks?

Aizawa tossed a ball to Bakugo, Emiri recognized it from the fitness test they took at the beginning of the year. "So Bakugo, try throwing that."

"This is from the fitness test." Bakugo said.

"Your previous record, from right after you started school, was 705.2 meters. Let's see how much you'd improved."

Bakugo nodded and stepped in front of the group. He reeled his arm back, "Then, here I go... Go to hell!" He shouted, throwing the ball with a giant explosion to boost the distance of it. Emiri watched as the ball flew through the air and landed somewhere among the trees— there was no way they were finding that ball again easily.

"709.6 meters." Aizawa stated.

That's all? Emiri thought to herself, looking towards Bakugo who had a mixture of anger and shock on his face. The fact that he hasn't improved a lot must be a shock to him.

"It's been about three months since you started high school. Through various experiences, you all have definitely improved. But that improvement has mainly been at the mental and technical levels, with some increase in stamina. As you can see, your quirks themselves have not improved that much. That's why we will work on improving your Quirks starting today." A smile creeped onto his face, "It'll be so hard you'll feel like dying, but try not to actually die."

A chill went up Emiri's spine at his words. She had heard from sources that the training camp was going to be harder this year compared to previous years, but she was almost convinced they were going to be worked until near death. Hopefully she would improve during her short time here.

"You doing good, Koyama?" Kirishima asked, landing a small distance away from her, his arms hardened.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" Emiri said. Her, Kirishima, and Ojiro were training together— well it was more the two of them attacking Kirishima while the redhead hardened his skin and defended himself from their attacks.

Emiri's training was to focus on strengthening her blades, increasing the time limit she could hold them, as well as increasing the speed that she could transform her limbs from one weapon to another before they went numb. So far, Emiri's blades had a few nicks on them, and she knew for a fact that once she deactivated her quirk she would have cuts up and down her arms.

Emiri heard some footsteps from behind her, and in a split second she turned one of her arms into a shield, wincing as pins and needles spread up from her forearm into her shoulder. But she had managed to successfully block Ojiro's attack and the two of them jumped away from each other, creating some distance between them. So far they had only gotten two hours into training so far. This was going to be a long day.

That night, Emiri sat at a table with her arms laid out in front of her, the pins and needles slowly dying down. They had all stopped training around half an hour ago, and led to an outside eating area where they had some time to relax before dinner.

Two pros stepped out of the building, baskets of ingredients in their arms. One of the pros was Pixie Bob, the other was a third member of the Wild Wild Pussy Cats, Ragdoll. Her quirk was rather interesting, it was called Search. Ragdoll was able to look at up to 100 people and immediately know their location and weak points, Emiri assumed that she could also tell the type of quirk a user had. If you asked her, Emiri would love to have a quirk like Ragdoll's for herself. It could end up being useful for her future.

"Now remember when we said 'Today's the only day we'll be doing stuff for you!'?" Pixie bob asked, gaining the attention of the class.

"At least make your own food! Curry!" Ragdoll said.

"Yes ma'am." Everyone said, sounding almost like a hoard of zombies than they did teenagers.

Ragdoll started to laugh, placing her hands on her stomach. "You all look exhausted! But that doesn't mean you can make any old sloppy cat food!"

"It's true that part of rescuing someone is filling their stomachs and spirits of those exhausted during a disaster. That's U.A. For you, no opportunity wasted! Let's make the most delicious curry in the world everyone!" Iida exclaimed. It seemed like he was trying to cheer up the sullen class.

"Okay..." Most of them responded.

"C-Come on guys! We can do it! I-it's just some c-curry, right? How hard can cooking it b-be?"

The class glanced at each other, seeming to be slightly revived, "Right!" They exclaimed with more energy than before.

"That's the spirit!" Emiri said.

Emiri stood next to Bakugo as the two of them worked on chopping vegetables. She had turned her fingers into blades and efficiently chopped near equal proportions. Beside her, Bakugo sped through each veggie he chopped, yet seemed to be cutting them with extreme accuracy.

Once they had finished chopping the veggies, Emiri and Bakugo slid them into the two pots that were above the fire that their classmates had prepared. After that all they had to do was wait for it to fully cook. Sitting at a nearby table, Emiri cleaned off her fingers before turning them back to normal. The pins and needles had returned a bit but she didn't mind— it still wasn't as bad as earlier that day.

"Seems like the curry's done!" Sero exclaimed, "Let's all grab some grub!"

The class all grabbed some curry and after sitting down they started to dig in.

This is awful. Emiri thought as she shoveled the food into her mouth. Awful or not it was still edible and there was no way in hell Emiri was going to pass up a chance to eat after the day she had. It seemed like everyone else had the same thought process as she did.

Once everyone finished eating, they stumbled to the baths. Unlike the night before, it was quiet, everyone seemed to be in their own thoughts, or just too tired to speak.

Emiri didn't spend much time in the bath, and got out after a few minutes of soaking. She hand changed and was walking back to her room when she headed rushed footsteps behind her. Emiri glanced over her shoulder to see that it was Mina running up to her.

"Hey, Koyama, about last night, I'm sorry." She said. "I was joking around but I guess I went too far. Sorry."

Emiri stopped walking and turned around to face Mina. After a second she gave the pinkette a small smile, "You didn't know, I can't be mad at you for not knowing something." She said.

"You'll forgive me?" Mina asked.

"I don't hold grudges, at least not over things like this." Emiri said. "So, yes, I'll forgive you."

Tears pricked the corners of her eyes, and she wrapped her arms around Emiri, "Thank you, Koyama!"

"It's not a problem." Emiri said, her smile widening ever so slightly as she patted Mina on the back, "We've got to trust each other, right?"

Later that night, up on a cliff not too far from from the camps stood a group of villains.

"I do not like this! It's so not cute!" Toga exclaimed, adjusting a mask.

"They were engineered from the black market from what I hear. You should be worried that they work, not that they look 'pretty.'" A boy in a middle schooler's uniform said. He had on a full blown gas mask, which caused his voice to become slightly distorted.

"I'm just saying it could be a little more stylish! That too much to ask?" Toga asked, flinging her arms around in the air.

"Hi darlings, sorry to keep you waiting!" A woman said, walking up to the group.

"Get to work... get to work..." a man wrapped up in what looked to be a full body straitjacket said, his mouth being held open by hooks to reveal his teeth.

Three more people joined the group, the scarred man, the cloaked man now wearing a mask, and a man that looked like a lizard cosplaying Stain.

"That makes seven of us." The scarred man said.

"I don't care, just let me loose! I'm to pumped up to stand by!" The cloaked man said.

"Shut your mouth you crazy bastard. We wait. We're still expecting three more people to join our little party. The League of Villains made a mistake going after them with a bunch of random thugs in the USJ. Better to use a small group of elites. The first thing we have to do, it take away their sense of peace, and show them their lives rest in our hands."

Toga grinned, excitement welling up inside her. She was so close to seeing Emiri again. She couldn't wait until she saw her friends reaction when the two come across each other again.
