Chapter 33
Once the two of them got to their exam area, they stepped off the bus and walked through the front gate. It looked like their battle stage was a large city.
"Team Koyama and Kirishima, practical exam. Ready, go!" A voice proclaimed, and the two of them entered the area. The two of them ran through the main street, until Emiri spotted a block-like figure off in the distance. She glanced at Kirishima and motioned towards one of the alleyways before running into it.
"I doubt Cemontoss will let us get past him by the front, much less let us get anywhere near him." Emiri said, placing a hand up to her chin. The two of them had tried to talk strategy but without knowing what the setting of their battle field would be they had found it hard to come up with something solid.
"What about going through the alleyways?" Kirishima asked, walking a small ways down the one they were in."
"It would work but we don't know the layout of this place. We might end up lost."
"Right. Then how about the tops of the buildings?"
"How would we get up there?" Emiri looked up at Kirishima, who motioned towards a black stairwell along the outside of a nearby building. Standing up with a wide smile, Emiri ran over towards him, "You're a genius, Kirishima!" She exclaimed before running up to it and starting to climb up the stairs.
"Oh, uh, yeah, it was no big deal." Kirishima said with a sheepish smile, placing a hand on the back of his neck before following after the smaller girl.
Once the two of them were at the top of the building, they started hopping from building to building. Emiri helped Kirishima some of the way, since the redhead didn't have the same training as she had gotten with Edgeshot. Eventually the two of them got closer to where Cemontoss was. Peeking over the edge of a building, she noticed that he was starting to look around, it looked like he had realized that they weren't coming out of the alleyway they had gone into.
She pulled her head back and looked towards Kirishima, "Should we try to capture him?" She asked.
"We could, any plans for that?"
Emiri shook her head, "Your quirk could be efficient against him. Since he's probably as tough as cement I risk breaking off a limb if any of my blades or weapons snap off."
"Right... so, we continue to avoid him?"
Emiri nodded, "It's the best plan we've got. And if we try to fight him we might end up failing this exam, and I don't know about you but I can't go to summer school."
"Right. I'd like to be able to go to summer camp too." Kirishima said, chuckling slightly.
Emiri nodded and the two of them started moving again, hopping from building to building until they got close to the exit. Once they got close they looked for a way down, the building they were currently on were was too high for them to jump off and they couldn't spot a fire escape anywhere.
"Koyama, come here." Kirishima said.
"Yeah, do you have a plan?" Emiri asked, walking over to the red haired boy. She watched as he turned around and crouched slightly.
"I can take the fall, if you hop on my back I can bring you down with me." He said, looking over her shoulder and giving her a wide grin. "We'll have to start running immediately because Cemontoss will hear us but I think we're close enough to the exit to make a run for it!"
"Oh, I get it! You'll be able to harden your legs so they don't break once you make contact with the land! Good thinking!" She said clapping her hands together, and with his help she got on his back until he was holding her as if he were giving her a piggy-back ride.
"Ready?" Kirishima asked, heading over to the edge of the building.
"Ready." Emiri confirmed.
Kirishima ran straight towards the edge of the building, not stopping as he jumped over the edge and the two plummeted straight towards the ground. Emiri braced herself for impact as the two got closer to the ground, feeling a harsh jolt and hearing a loud crash as they landed.
She jumped off of Kirishima's back and helped him out of the hole he was in and glanced towards Cementoss, who was slowly turning to look in their direction. He placed his hand to the ground and the cement road started wavering. Upon seeing this, the two teens started to run straight towards the exit.
"Team Koyama and Kirishima have passed the final exam practical! Congratulations!" The voice roared once the two of them passed through the gate.
Looking up at the redhead, Emiri beamed, "We did it! We passed!" She exclaimed. Reaching her hands out to high-five Kirishima.
Kirishima threw his hands up in the air, their hands coming together in a high five. "Summer camp, here we come!"
"You two did well." A voice said, and Emiri looked to see Cemontoss walking up to them. "I was expecting you to try to fight me. Though I guess I underestimated you. Congratulations on passing."

The next day, Emiri and the rest of her class were gathered in the classroom, awaiting the results of their exam, near the front of the room some of the students were surrounded in a gloom.
"Everyone, I'm looking forward to hearing all your stories o-of how fun camp was." Mina said as she held back tears.
"Maybe they'll end up letting you go. There might be a last minute twist or something!" Midoriya suggested.
"He said whoever failed the exams would have to skip training camp and live in summer school hell. We didn't pass the practical so we're doomed! Don't you get it Midoriya, or did All Might knock all the brains out of you!?" Kaminari said.
Emiri giggled, "I'm sure you're overreacting. It doesn't make sense for them to prevent you all from training and purposely letting you all fall behind. Who knows, maybe they'll be some sort of summer school at camp— you might still be able to go!" Emiri said.
"An angel...!" Kaminari said, the gloom around him slowly disappearing at Emiri's words. With those words she seemed to of eased most of the panicking students.
Suddenly, the door slid open and Emiri looked to see Aizawa standing in the doorway. There was a shuffling around the room as everyone ran to get to their seats.
"Morning." He said as he walked to the podium. "Unfortunately there are a few of you who did not pass your final exams. So when it comes to the training camp in the woods..." He cracked what looked to be a forced smile, "everyone is going!"
"We really get to go to camp!?" Kaminari asked.
"Seriously?!" Mina asked.
"Yeah. The good news is nobody bombed the written exam. Bad news is three failed the practical. One team, of course, and Sero failed as well."
Sero groaned. "Crap, I knew it. Mineta made it to the gate but I didn't do near enough to pass."
"Allow me to explain. For the practical battles the teachers made sure to leave a way for the students to win. Otherwise you never would of stood a chance. We were interested in observing how you each worked together and approached the task at hand."
"But didn't you promise the teachers wouldn't be holding back?" Ojiro asked.
"That was just to get you on edge. Besides the training camp will focus on building your strength. Those who failed need those lessons the most. We were never going to separate you." He grinned once again, "That was just a logical deception we used."
A logical deception? Well, I guess it worked, in a way... Emiri thought.
"Mr. Aizawa this is the second time you've lied to us! Aren't you afraid we'll lose faith in you?" Iida asked, standing straight up with his hand high in the air.
"That's a good point. I'll consider it. But i wasn't lying to you about everything. Failure is failure. We've prepared extra lessons for the three of you. Frankly they'll be far tougher than what you'd face in summer school."
Harsh. Emiri thought as she looked over towards the three who had been celebrating, seeing that they were all surrounded in a heavy gloom, she looked back up to Aizawa who had a stack of booklets in his hands.
"These are guides to the training camp. It tells you what you need to bring, and when it will be taking place. Please read through these carefully."
"Yes sir!"

Later that day, Emiri hung back with everyone to chat about the oncoming training camp.
"This is gonna be great! I'm so glad we're all going together!" Ojiro exclaimed.
"Looks like we'll be at the training camp for a full week!" Iida said as he looked through the book.
"I've got to find a bigger suitcase." Midoriya said.
"Yeah I don't even have a bathing suite. Guess I need to buy some stuff." Kaminari said.
"Guys, since we're off tomorrow and we've finally finished exams, I have the best idea!" Hagakure exclaimed. "Why doesn't class 1-A go shopping together!"
"Hey, yeah! We've never hung out as a class before!"
"Bakugo, see you there, right?" Kirishima asked, looking over at the blond who was already walking out of the classroom.
"I can't think of anything more annoying." Bakugo said.
"I think it sounds like fun!" Emiri said as she smiled and clapped her hands together. "A class trip to the mall!"
