Chapter 12
The next day, Emiri was left home alone— Her parents had to go out to attend an interview for her older brother. Her mother had told her that she had left dinner in the fridge for Emiri to reheat later. Grabbing an apple, she bit into it and headed to a small reading nook in the living room to get her homework done.
Halfway through an English Language translation assignment, Emiri threw the core of her apple out into her front yard. She took an extra second before she shut the window to feel the nice breeze on her skin. As she moved to close the window, she watched as a crow flew down and started pecking at the apple, knocking it around her front yard until it picked it up in it's beak and flew away.
Watching the crow, she thought back to the USJ attack— specifically the giant Nomu that had attacked All Might. After the incident, U.A had closed for two days, most likely to repair the damages and possibly up security around the building. Though there was the added concern of press flooding her class as they tried to get into the building.
She let out a small sigh and closed the window, a small snap sounding when the latch automatically locked. Just before she turned away from the window, a news car rolled up in front of her house and she watched as some reporters stepped out of the van. Quietly Emiri collected the homework she was working on and placed it into a folder. This wasn't the first time reporters came over to her house, her parents were Pro Heroes after all. Reporters coming by the house to try to talk with them was rather common. She placed the papers into her school bag before she went downstairs to the training rooms— whenever reporters came around to talk to her parents, it was easier to pretend that nobody was home.

Another day passed and U.A was open once again. Walking through the hallways, Emiri could sense that people were tense, she didn't blame them. A villain attack on a supposedly secure school? That's enough to make anyone uneasy— anyone except the villain who attacked.
Calmly she headed to her classroom and opened the door, seeing that most of her class was already there, chatting with each other. Listening to snippets of their conversations, they were all talking about how they were on the news.
"Alright everyone!" Iida shouted as he moved to the front of the room. "Class is about to start! Get in your seats!"
"You're t-the only one not in your seat, Iida." Emiri pointed out as she sat down.
Iida paused, before speed-walking to his desk and sitting down.
The bell rang and Emiri looked towards the door. I wonder who's going to sub today. I doubt that Mr. Aizawa will be well enough to teach us- her thoughts were cut off once she saw none other than Mr. Aizawa walk through the door.
"Mr. Aizawa! What are you doing here?" The class exclaimed.
"Mr. Aizawa!" Iida said, raising his hand high in the air. "I'm glad you're okay!"
"That's okay?" Emiri asked quietly.
"My well being is irrelevant, what's more important is that your fight isn't over yet."
A panic ran through the class, and Emiri filter her head. Did he know of another oncoming villain attack?
"The UA Sports festival is about to start."
"Ah! Why would you scare us like that?" Everyone shouted, then excitement started going around.
"Let's kick some ass!" Kirishima shouted, any previous concern gone without a trace.
"Is it really a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Jiro asked, her hand raised slightly in the air.
"They could attack us easily if we're all in the same place." Ojiro said.
"Apparently the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus, they're strengthening security this year compared to past years." Aizawa said. "This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains. Our sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic Games, but then quirks started appearing. Now the olympics have been dragging and reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA Sports Fesival."
"That's right, and top heroes everywhere will be watching." Momo said, "This is where you get scouted."
"Sure, unless you're dead." Mineta said quietly.
"She's right." Kaminari agreed, "After graduating, a lot of people join pro industries as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far a some people go." Jiro said. "They miss their chance to go independent and stay eternally side kicks." She then looked at Kaminari, "Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb."
"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can grant you greater experiences for popularity. That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, this event can open a path for you. One chance a year, three chances in a life time, no aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you'd better not slack off on your training." Aizawa said, getting the class' attention back on him.
"Yes sir!"
"Class is dismissed."
A few classes passed and until it was just about time for lunch to start. Cementoss dismissed his class a little early so everyone could chat for the last ten minutes of class.
"The whole stuff with the villains sucked, sure, but I'm pumped for the games!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"My, what's a boy to do! I stand out even when I'm standing still. That means the scouts won't be able to take their eyes off me!" Aoyama said as he struck a pose.
Kaminari sighed, "You're so lucky, Shoji. People are bound to notice your unique quirk."
"Sure, but matters is that I show them how useful I can be." Shoji stated.
"This is gonna be nuts, everyone is so excited." Midoriya said.
"Well yeah, everyone enrolled at the school with the sole aim to become heros. So naturally we're all getting fired up." Iida looked towards Midoriya, "You have to be exited too, Right Midoriya?"
"Well yeah, of course I am. And also nervious."
"Deku, Iida! Let's do our best in the Sports Fesival!" Uraraka exclaimed, getting the threes attention, and Emiri looked towards the girl, blinking in surprise at the amount of determination she was showing.
"Uraraka? What happened to your face?" Midoriya asked.
"Seriously, what's up? You're normally like the most laid back girl ever." Ashido stated.
"Everyone, I'm gonna do my best!" Uraraka shouted as she raised her hand in the air.
"Yeah!" Everyone said.
She turned around, now facing Emiri, Sero, Kirishima, and Tokoyami. "I said I'm gonna do my best!" She screeched.
"You okay? You kinda look like you're loosing it." Kirishima asked.
Getting over her moment of suprised, Emiri flashed Uraraka a smile, "We're all going to do our best!" She said, raising her fist in the air.
"Yeah! That's the spirit Koyama!"
Emiri smiled, she had t admit, she was kind of nervous for the sports festival, but her classmates excitement had infected her.

Soon the school day ended and as Emiri was packing up her school supplies, she heard a chatter just outside the door. Curious, she walked over and opened it to see what was happening outside the classroom. The last thing she expected was crowd of students waiting just outside the classroom.
"C-can we help you?" She asked.
"What business do you have with class A?" Iida asked, walking up and standing behind Emiri.
"Scouting out the enemy, idiot." Bakugo said, walking up to the door. "We're the ones who made it out of the villains attack. They probably want to check us out before the sports festival." He stopped in front of the kids crowding the doorway, "There's no point in doing stuff like that. Out of my way, background characters."
"Stop calling people background characters just because you don't know them!" Iida exclaimed, his hand making a chopping motion.
"I came to see what the famous Class A was like." A voice from the crowd said, and someone made their way to the from. "But you seem pretty arrogant. Are all the students in the hero course like this?"
"No. that's just Bakugo." Emiri stated as her classmates frantically shook their heads behind her.
"Seeing something like this makes me disillusioned. There are quite a few people who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn't make it into the hero course. Did you know that?" The boy who was talking had a tired look on his face, and purple hair that looked really soft. "The school has left those of us a chance. Depending on the results of the sports festival, they'll consider our transfer into the hero course, and it seems that may also transfer people out." He looked over the class, "Scouting out the enemy? I, at least, came to say that even if you're in the hero course, ou get too carried away, I'll sweep your feet out from under you. I came with a declaration of war."
"A-A declaration of w-war?" Emiri asked, her eyes widening slightly.
"Hey, Hey! I'm from Class B next door!" Someone else in the crowd exclaimed. He had wavy spiked silver hair and very spiky eyelashes. "I heard you fought against villains, so I came to hear 'bout it! Don't get so full of yourselves! If you bark too much, it'll be embarrassing for you durin' the real fight!"
Emiri looked between the boy and Bakugo, watching as the explosive blond started to head out of the classroom, obviously ignoring the shouting boy.
"You ignorin' me, bastard?"
"Wait a minute Bakugo!" Kirishima exclaimed, running up to the door. "What're you gonna do about all this? It's your fault everyone's hating on us!"
Bakugo looked back at the him, "It doesn't matter." He responded, "It doesn't matter as long as you rise to the top."
"Bakugo..." Emiri muttered, watching as he pushed his way through the crowd and away from the classroom. An attitude like that might lead him right into the hands of villains one day.
"That's so simple and manly." Kirishima said, clenching his fist with a tear in his eye.
Emiri sighed, if she was going to do well during the Sports Festival, she needed to start training. Looking up at the students in the front of the crowd, she widened her eyes and tilted her head. "I really need to get home, would you mind letting me through?"
The students looked Dow at her before they parted, making a path for Emiri to walk through. She smiled at them, "Thank you so much!" She said as she started to walk through the crowd of people and headed home.
