Chapter 6 "Move"
I'm awoken by a knock on the door as I stretch my arms and legs out feeling the room spinning. Last night, I really got carried away with the alcohol. Before I could say anything, the door opens revealing my mother, Madison. Her eyes are the very mirror of mine. Many of the females in my family always say besides having the identical color as my mother. I also resemble the sweetness and purity of hers. I always brush it off and laugh because I'm no where near that.
"Little Leo, why must you drink like that? Now you're all hungover," she calmly says letting out a disappointing sigh. My mother isn't a fan of us men drinking alcohol, but what can she do? We're all grown including my father, so she just babysits all of us making sure we don't do anything to land in jail or at the hospital.
"It was a party mom. Plus, might as well drown myself since I'm going to have to marry a women I hardly know," I mutter as I sit up on the bed rubbing my tired eyes. My mother walks inside sitting beside me showing empathy for my misfortune.
"I know how it feels son, but trust me this will all be just a memory soon," she reassures as she places her hand on mine.
My dark brows crease in confusion before responding, "How could you ever know how I feel? You married dad for love." I watch as my mother's shoulders slump down in defeat, but why did that just happened? I do not know.
"I know more than you'll ever know," she breathes as she smiles at me softly. "Leo!," we both snap back towards the door hearing my father call out for me from downstairs. I roll my eyes just wanting to sleep in. This is what I get for knocking out at my parent's home instead of going to mine.
"Get dressed, your father is waiting to have breakfast with you," my mother informs me as she stands up from the bed turning her heal to make her way out. However, before she fully exits. She turns around one last time, "I love you little Leo and trust me this will all be over soon," she smiles as she turns away exiting.
I let out a deep breathe I didn't realize I was holding by her words. Every time I speak to her I feel calmer and focused. My mother has always been my peace. She just always knows how to make me feel better. I do not know how she does it, but I'm so blessed to have a great mom like her. After, putting on my clothes. I make my way to meet my father. Instantly, I smell chilaquiles, which consists of fried corn tortillas in chile sauce. My stomach starts to grumble notifying me it's hungry.
Stepping through the kitchen doorway. I spot my father digging into his plate along side with Aviana. The both of them glance at me as I take a seat near them ready for my plate to be brought by my mother. Another thing, I love about my mother is that she's an amazing cook.
"How's that hangover brother?," Aviana asks as she sips on natural orange juice.
"How's yours?," I respond watching as she completely almost choked on a piece of tortilla losing all color of her skin. She glances in fear at father before sending a death glare towards me.
"You drank last night Aviana Castillo?," father grumbles as he squints his eyes at his very own mirror. My father and sister both have the same color eyes. Some say, she takes a lot from our father.
"No dad, he's lying," Aviana replies causing my father to avert his attention towards me now. I roll my eyes knowing I have to be a good fair brother and cover her ass just like she's done in the past for me.
"I was just playing dad," I say as mother steps inside with my plate and water. "If I find out one of-"
"That's enough Leo. Let your children eat," my mother utters cutting my father off. I watch as he stays silent not saying a word to my mother nor us anymore. Instead, he starts eating his chilaquiles once again. For my father being the most feared man with that temper he's known for. He sure is a delicate paper against my mother.
I chuckle at the thought, which causes my father to stare at me. "What's funny?," he raises a dark brow.
"Nothing," I blankly respond.
"Aviana, please go help your mother with the dishes," my father murmurs to Aviana. My sister nods picking up her empty plate and glass cup to join my mother.
"Son, there's something I need to talk to you about," my father announces to me as he puts down his fork. I remain eating as I nod for him to know I'm listening.
"There's a way you can maybe avoid marrying Amoret," he says before taking a sip of his water. He then continues on to say, "but I doubt you will be too happy about it." I swallow down the chilaquiles I was currently chewing on. I have no clue about what my father is about to propose to me since usually it's crap I do not like. However, hearing about a way to possibly avoid marriage to a woman I hardly know sounds pretty interesting that I decide to ask.
Worst mistake ever.
"Clarify," I calmly say as I listen carefully and intently.
"If you have Amoret live with you that can give you the sufficient time and days to investigate her as well as to wrap her around your finger," my father explains.
"Fuck no," I mutter.
"Junior," he sternly says before I cut him off.
"There's no way I'm having that woman in my house," I protest grumpily. "You would still have that woman in your house once you married her. What's the difference?," my father points out.
I hate when he actually makes sense.
"Whatever," I grumble lowly.
"You have a month son to find out the business deal between the Chinese and Russians," father reminds.
"Isn't the damn wedding bullshit in a month?," I roll my eyes crossing my arms against my chest.
"Well get to it before then right?," he blandly responds as he stands up from the table.
"Great, when am I suppose to go ask her to live at my place?," I huff annoyedly.
"I already took care of it," father smirks as he makes his way out of the kitchen.
"What do you mean 'took care of it dad'?," I abruptly stand up from the chair not liking his response one bit.
"She's moving in tomorrow."
