Chapter 5
Simulations.
Everyone I met has a different opinion from the next, but the same as others on how effective our training has been. Some stuck to it, found it effective. Some didn't follow it, some changed it up, found it effective.
Regardless, we all had to make our own training to survive. Jeloti is a rough place for organics, and a heaven for droids. The temperature is perfect to increase battery life, the colors of ground and plants easy to their optic sensors, and us somehow standing out more.
We could hide behind plants, granted we were in the rare zones they grew. Enough mind talk, I could see the base from behind the plant I was hiding. I looked over to Y/n, his Z-6 pointed up and ready for the signal from the others.
I turned back to the base, which was a bit different from the reports. I looked through my E-7's scope, looking at the different types of B1 units, along with supporting B2 and Droidekas. The base was situated next to a crator, which itself had became a Sarlacc pit.
No doubt Blast has noticed, and plans the obvious.
Four walls as tall as two men stood guard, with an open gate making a weakpoint, and a chokepoint.
"Everyone in position?" Punchup asked through comms. "Affirmative." Nosco responded. "Ready to pop this fruit." Y/n said. "Now!" I yelled, picking off a B2. I kneeled partially behind the plant as I kept taking potshots.
Alarms rang as Y/n advanced, gunning down a still rolled up droideka. Y/n drew all attention as I picked off any snipers or marksdroids who targeted him from afar. Droids rushed up front, including a B1 Commander.
I got it with a lucky shot, disorganizing the ranks. Droids fell left and right as Y/n charged into a squad, using his Z-6 to knock some heads. I steadily followed until we stood side by side, but still a ways from the gate. We had to take cover behind another set of plants as droidekas fortified their position.
"How's it going at the front?!" Blast asked though coms, blaster fire comming through too. "Droidekas stopped us out front! You?!" Y/n asked. "We're taking care of the tactical droid, but if you can give a cordinate, I might be able to help!" Blast said.
"I can help with that. Aim south at an 80 degree angle." Nosco directed. Seconds later an explosion hit a droideka dead on, taking the out two next to it. "Good hit! Satchel out!" I said. The droids must have realized the obvious, and started to retreat inside.
"Gome back!" Y/n yelled, putting a large amount of bolts in their direction. He charged once again, only for a red bolt to hit his chest. He was knocked off his feet, back hitting the ground.
But it didnt stop him. From where he sat, he gunned down more as I started pulling him back behind cover. "Thank you." I said to him. "For what?" He asked. "Winning me a bet."
"Oh sod off."
I looked at his chest closer. "Minor hit, blood boiling, still feel your guts?" I asked. "Yep, though my ass hurts, and they must've shut the gate now." Y/n explained. It only took a peek to confirm. "Main gate shut, but no defensive weapons have come online. Something's off." Nosco spoke on coms.
"We got the head, but the droids in our area have pulled back. Something's wrong." Punchup spoke through coms aswell. "Anything on scanners Nosco?" Y/n asked. "Nope. I'm comming down to the front, lets finish this up." Nosco said.
"Good. We'll be waiting on Punchup and Blast to open the gate." I said, helping Y/n stand up. We made to up front, with Nosco joining us shortly. "I see we won." Nosco said, looking at Y/n's chest. "Can you not bet on me getting injured?" Y/n asked.
"Not you getting injured, you surviving." I said. "Better share me some of the winnings." "We will."
The gate then slowly opened, and out came Punchup to us pointing our weapons. "Where's Blast?" Y/n asked. "In the command center, let us go." He said, walking away. We followed him past some destroyed droids, down a hellway, and into the command center.
He walked through the doorway, but Nosco stopped us before we could enter. Punchup stood with Blast as the former typed on a terminal. "Neck." Nosco told us. We looked closer to the two's necks as Punchup turned to us.
His neck, though covered, was noticably thin. So was Blast. The bodygloves they wore didnt fit them like before, and darkness was spotted along the necks. "What are you waiting for?" Blast asked. "Yeaaaahhhh, no, screw you droids!" Y/n said as he fired upon them. Nosco joined aswell.
The sound of blaster bolts hitting metal were all that was needed to convince me to start firing. The imposters fell over dead. We moved in, making sure to watch our backs. A screen came to life, the face if a tactical droid filling it. "So they failed. At least we cut the herd a little." It said.
"So this was a trap?" Y/n asked. "Yes. It was a part succes. Well, my job is done on this moon. I had hoped to kill all five before I had to pull back. Well, goodbye soldiers, and have a reward." It said before cutting the call.
"A reward? What?" Nosco said as I took the helmets off the droids. "Let's report to command, let the others know." Y/n said. I looked at the helmet in my hand as Nosco got on a terminal and linked to command.
"Sir, the base is clear. We lost two. I understand that, wait, say again?" Nosco spoke, making me look over. "Affirmitive, I'll let the others know." Nosco said as the connection cut. "Let us know what?" Y/n asked. Nosco turned to him.
"They came."
