heavy is the head that wears the crown

" SOMETIMES I GET SO TIRED THAT I WANT TO REST BUT I JUST... I CAN'T. THEY NEED ME. "

Hazel King wore a heavy crown wherever she went.

That crown was placed on her head by her mother, a well-trusted guard on the Ark. She believed her daughter could one day follow in her footsteps and raised her to do so. Hazel soon started to believe in herself. She wanted to be a guard, put all of her strength into her training with her mother and gradually become a fighter. Hazel's instincts told her to take care of others before herself. She wanted to keep in the ark safe one day, and that dream grows closer and closer until one night tore it all down.

It was Miller's fault, really. She blamed him, as did his father. He just had to have the fastest hands in the ark and swipe that glimmering bracelet calling his name durning a short walk through a station with Hazel. Sure, she didn't have to absolutely lose it and pound on the guard that arrested him but these things happen. If Miller goes down, it's with Hazel - or not at all. They're both locked in separate cells in the skybox in hopes for a good review until those dreams turn into returning home to the planet below them simmering in radiation.

Now, Hazel is on the ground, challenged by every move she makes by other boys but refuses to believe that the king always a male and can sometimes indeed be a woman. And if John Murphy lays a hand on her crown, Hazel may just lose it again.
