Heavy Crown

A/N: this is my entry for a one shot competition for macklemcvey 's story Heavy Crown. If you haven't read HC yet, hop to it!

Reina's body tensed as her hips circled a couple more times, her hands gripping his chest as she threw her head back.

Harry bit his lip as he watched her eyes close and her mouth fall open, wordlessly, as her long dark hair cascaded down her back, strands of it sticking to her skin, slick with sweat.

Reina let her orgasm wash over her, her hips slowing down and stopping completely as her head straightened up and she looked down at Harry and smiled.

Harry delighted in watching Reina's body react to him as his hands came up to cup her breasts, squeezing them, eliciting a groan from her at the same time she tensed around his member, causing him to hiss.

"Gorgeous," he murmured, knowing he'd never tire of seeing Reina like this, hearing her, tasting her, watching her give herself completely to him as he did to her.

She leant down to place a kiss to his still swollen lips when he ducked his head and playfully took one of her peaked nipples into his mouth, sucking on it and earning another moan from Reina.

"Harry..." she breathed out as she let him have his way, his tongue now circling the almost painfully hard bud.

He smiled against her skin before he gently rolled her off his body and onto the bed next to him, admiring her flushed skin, her curves and her blissful expression.

"You will be the death of me," she sighed before smiling, her eyes closed as sleep started to pull her in.

"Well I would hate for that to happen my love," Harry replied, "perhaps we should lessen such activities..."

Harry was interrupted by a slap on his arm.

"Don't even joke about denying me such pleasure Harry," she looked at him with one eye open, "you would only be hurting yourself."

Harry chuckled at her reaction before reaching to pull the covers up over them, albeit slowly, just so he could admire the body of the goddess next to him.

One that he would worship forever.

"Sleep my love," he whispered, placing a kiss on her forehead before he laid next to Reina, watching her sleep until he finally did the same.

~~~~~~
The cool wind blew over Reina's body and she shivered, pulling the covers over her to try and keep the chill out.
Again it blew around the room and Reina groaned, wondering why Harry or herself had been so careless to leave the window open, especially since Winter was fast approaching.
In a huff, she threw the bed covers off and walked over to the window but found it firmly shut.
Frowning, she turned around to be greeted by someone she had assumed she would never see again standing before her.
Jon.
Reina's hand flew to her mouth before she realised she was standing before him naked, and although he had of course seen her without clothing and in such an intimate manner, it did not feel quite right at this moment.
Stifling the urge to scream, Reina quickly reached for Harry's robe at the foot of the bed and shrugged it on, tying the belt firmly around her waist.
She looked at Harry and saw him sound asleep, however she had no idea how he would react if he was to wake and find Jon standing in his room.
Reina grabbed onto the bed post to steady herself as her knees threatened to buckle from underneath her.
"I...I thought you dead!" she whispered, "they told me you were dead!"
Jon shook his head and smiled sadly at her.
"Reina my darling," he replied, "I am not of this world, but I am with you in spirit. I will always be with you, watching over you, protecting you when you need it...always my love."
"When I need it?" she questioned, closing her eyes briefly and opening them again only to see nothing in front of her.
Reina whirled around, her eyes growing accustomed to the darkness, seeing only Harry still asleep in their bed.
She must surely be dreaming.
That is what it was.
Just a dream.
Reina made her way back to her side of the bed, letting the robe slide to the ground before she climbed back in and over to Harry, cuddling up to him, seeking comfort in his arms.
Just a dream, she thought to herself as she fell back asleep.
~~~~~~

The next day, Harry unfortunately had to spend much of his time with his father, so he was unable to see Reina at all during the course of the day. By the time Harry was released of his 'royal duties,' dinner had long finished and Harry found Reina had already retired to their room for the night.

As much as he wanted to wake her, if only to hear her voice, he reluctantly crawled into bed beside her and settled for wrapping his arms around her and holding her close to him instead.

Harry had not long fallen asleep, exhaustion overtaking him when he felt something jolt him awake.

He lifted his head and glanced around, his mind foggy and half asleep.

Thinking he must have been dreaming, he laid his head back down again on his pillow and closed his eyes.

Moments later he felt the jolt again but was still awake to realise it had come from Reina.

He was about to ignore it when she jumped again in her sleep, followed by a gasping breath, her hands fisting the bed covers.

Small whimpers began to fall from her mouth as her face crumpled, the pain evident in her features.

"No!" she cried out suddenly, "no...I don't...I don't understand!"

Harry quickly moved to wake her, not wanting her to suffer from the nightmare he perceived her to be currently having.

Little did he know that Reina was again dreaming about Jon.

"Reina! Reina wake up!" he gently shook her, "Reina..."

Harry watched as her eyes flew open, wide with shock as she scrambled to sit up, trying desperately to escape whatever she had seen in her nightmare.

Reina felt hands on her arm and in her blind confusion, did not realise it was Harry so she began to inadvertently push him away from her.

"Reina! Reina it's me my love," he said forcefully, "it's me, Harry!"

Reina stopped struggling at the sound of his voice and looked at him.

Really looked at him.

She immediately saw his clear green eyes staring back at her in concern as he began to run his hands up and down her arms in a comforting gesture, satisfied that she was no longer trying to push him away.

Her own hands gripped onto his shoulders as she continued to look at him, her confusion starting to clear when she realised that it was indeed Harry in front of her and not Jon.

"Reina my love," Harry said, "are you alright? What were you dreaming about?"

Reina allowed her breathing to slow whilst she bided her time.

Harry had indeed shown he was trying to change for her, to be a better man, a better husband for her but he still had his moments and even she was still unsure how he would react if she was to try and explain why she was having these strong visions of Jon.

When she was unable to even explain it to herself.

So she didn't.

"I...I dreamt of the ambush..." she lowered her gaze from Harry's, "I dreamt...you died..."

"Oh my love," Harry pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head, "I'm here, you're here, we're both safe and I will continue to keep you safe."

Reina let herself sink into his calming embrace, grateful he had believed her little white lie.

She felt terrible lying to him but until she could figure out a way to explain to Harry what these visions meant, she decided to keep quiet for the time being.

Harry laid himself down again, pulling Reina with him, never breaking his hold on her as he pulled the covers over them.

"Rest my love," he kissed her head again, "I'm here, I've got you."

Harry soon fell into a deep sleep, the steady repetition of his breathing becoming the focus of Reina's attention as she fought to stay awake.

The visions of Jon were upsetting to her and she figured the longer she stayed awake, the less likely she was to see them.

Harry watched with concern as Reina picked at her breakfast, taking only tiny mouthfuls of fruit, moving the rest around her bowl, showing little interest in it.

It had been a few days since Harry had witnessed Reina's nightmare and the subsequent reoccurrences over the last few nights.

Each time, Reina had woken she had been pale in colour, breathing rapidly as she tried to recognise her surroundings, her whimpers escalating to crying left Harry feeling baffled and helpless as Reina repeatedly told him the same story.

She dreamt he had died.

He had started to feel that there was more to it, but he bit his tongue, not wanting to push her, hoping she would share what she was seeing in her own time.

But looking at her this morning, she looked so frail and exhausted, the opposite of the woman he knew and loved.

He decided he would send for the physician, just to attend to her and see if there was something amiss that could perhaps be helped with medicine.

"What are your plans for today my love?" Harry asked Reina.

Reina paid him no attention, she simply continued to push her food around her bowl.

Why was she seeing Jon every night in her dreams when she had not seen him in so long?

Was she going mad?

He felt so real that she was sure that if she reached out to touch him she would be able to feel the fur coat he often wore during the bitterly cold winters.

She was sure she would smell the strong, spiced scent of his that reminded her of the woods.

She could not tell Harry of these dreams, that much she knew.

He would surely be angered and hurt, and Reina did not have the strength to handle his onslaught.

Why was Jon appearing and telling her that he needed to protect her?

It made no sense.

She had Harry to protect her.

"Reina?" Harry repeated, this time a tad more loudly.

"Yes?" Reina's head snapped up and she met Harry's worried gaze.

One that she had become accustomed to seeing over the last few days.

"Darling," he said gently, "what is it? I know there is more than what you are leading me to believe..." he couldn't help but ask her.

No.

Reina stood up abruptly and moved from her seat to stand behind it, pushing it in to indicate she had finished and intended to leave the table.

"Reina wait," Harry stood as well, "I did not mean to upset you further, but I am deeply worried about you."

"You..." Reina began, "you need...not be..."

Her hand moved from the chair to her stomach and she swallowed to keep the sudden urge to empty her stomach as she suddenly felt her like her body was aflame.

She had only enough time to meet Harry's gaze again before she fell to the ground.

"Reina!" Harry called out in panic, "guards! Guards!" he yelled, drawing the attention of those stationed outside the dining hall.

Men came running in at the Prince's shouts for help, Fredric amongst them as they came in to find Harry over Reina's lifeless body.

"Send for the physician immediately!" he yelled, as he gathered his unconscious wife up in his arms, prepared to take her to their bedroom.

The guards moved swiftly, alerting the physician as well as both the King and Queen of Reina's collapse as Harry carried Reina, Fredric right beside the frightened Prince.

Harry had just settled Reina into their bed when the physician entered the room, the King and Queen behind him.

"Harry!" his mother rushed to her son's side, before gasping as she took in Reina's weakened state.

"What's wrong with her?" Harry demanded of the doctor when he sat at Reina's bedside and began examining her, "what is it? Can you heal her?"

"My Prince," he looked up at Harry, "what symptoms has the Princess shown?" he asked.

"Uh..." Harry had to stop and think, his worry for Reina first and foremost on his mind, "she's been having nightmares..."

"For how long?" the doctor asked.

"The last few days," Harry replied.

"Has she confided in you what these nightmares are about?" his mother asked.

"She says she dreams of when we were ambushed and that I do not survive..." Harry replies, "but..."

"But what?" his mother urged him to continue.

"I do not fully believe that is what she is dreaming, but she is yet to tell me," he replied sadly.

"The Princess is certainly feverish, extremely high," the doctor interrupted them, "have the maids bring us towels and cold water to try and bring it down," he instructed.

"What else can we do?" Harry asked.

"We wait," the doctor advised, "I am hopeful it is just a sickness with fever that will soon pass."

"That's it?" Harry raised his voice, "are you not going to give her any medicine?"

"Let us see if we can break the fever over the next day, shall we?" he said to Harry, who looked from Reina to the doctor, despair on his face and disappointment in his heart that the doctor did not do more.

"Come," the King ushered everyone out of the room, leaving Harry to sit with Reina.

Maids came in constantly, placing the cold, wet towels on Reina to help reduce her fever, bringing Harry food and water though he barely touched any of it, preferring to sit and hold Reina's hand, waiting with her should she wake up.

"How is she?" Fredric came in later during the night to see how both Harry and Reina were faring, "any change?"

"I'm afraid not," Harry shook his head sadly, "she's still the same."

Fredric placed a hand on Harry's shoulder in a comforting gesture.

"I'm right outside should you need anything," he reminded the young Prince before leaving him to sit with his wife.

He held her hand and kissed the back of it, her skin hot to the touch before he smoothed the damp hair from the side of her face.

At his touch, Reina moved her head slightly, a pained moan falling from her lips.

"I'm safe..." she breathed out, "I'm safe..."

"You are safe Reina," Harry murmured, "what are you dreaming about darling?"

Harry watched helplessly as Reina began to move around erratically, incoherent words coming from her as she seemed to fight whatever she was seeing in her sleep.

Jon stood in front of Reina, smiling at her as she looked at him in confusion.

"Why are you here?" she asked, "if you are not of my world, how am I still able to see you? How are you able to see me?"

"Reina, I am here to keep you safe," he said, "I cannot move on until I have saved you."

Reina shook her head, her emotions just as much as a mess as she was.

"I don't need to be saved," she replied, "I'm safe...look around, I'm safe."

Jon looked at her with a knowing glance.

"You're safe from what you know," he replied, "I'm here to protect you from the unknown."

Reina began to pace around, anger growing inside her.

She was tiring of whatever riddle Jon was speaking of.

"Jon I love you," she began, "I mean, I loved you with all my heart but-"

"I know," he cut her off, "I know Reina, but now you have Harry to love, and he you. He is your future my darling."

"Then why are you here?" she cried out, "I don't understand! I don't-"

Reina couldn't finish her sentence, instead she fell to the ground, pain consuming her and radiating through her body.

She closed her eyes, the pain too much as she curled up into a ball on the ground when Jon suddenly stood in front of her.

"Help...me," she groaned, "make it...stop Jon...please..." she begged.

The light behind him grew brighter as he kneeled beside her.

"This is what I'm to protect you from," he whispered, "it's not your time yet my love, it's not your time."

"What?" Reina tried to focus on Jon, but the pain was too much for her, causing her to cry out.

Jon stood up and began to walk backwards towards the light, it's brightness diminishing as he neared it.

"Don't leave me..." Reina moaned, "Jon..."

"You're safe now Reina," he said as he continued to walk away, "Harry will protect you both from now on."

"Jon..." Reina cried, as she watched him leave her.

"Darling if I take you with me you'll never see Harry again," he said, "they want to take you now but it's not your time, your future is with Harry, it's always been Harry," he smiled.

As Jon faded into the light, Reina started to see Harry in his place.

"You will love him just as much as you loved me," Jon's voice called out to her, "if not more..."

The pain began to lessen as Harry smiled down at her, nearing her slowly, holding something in his arms.

"Harry?" she called out weakly, "Harry..."

"I'm here Reina," he replied, 'can you hear me love? I'm here!"

Reina opened her eyes with start and realised she was in her bedroom and Harry was right beside her.

"Sweetheart," he breathed a sigh of relief when she gazed at him, "fetch the physician! Tell him the Princess is awake!" he yelled.

His hand held her face gently as he kissed her forehead before resting his own upon it.

"You scared me so much love," he whispered, "I was so afraid..."

"Harry..." she spoke in a hoarse whisper, "I have to tell you something..."

"You've been dreaming about Jon, I know," he replied, "you've been speaking his name out loud," he pulled away so he could gaze at her, "is that what you've been dreaming about all this time?"

Reina nodded silently, her eyes filling with tears.

"He...he said he was here to protect me, but I didn't understand it..." she shook her head, "I love you Harry, you have to believe me..."

"Sshhh..." he smoothed her hair back behind her ear, "we have time to talk about it later," Harry said, "you need to rest..."

"No!" Reina replied in frustration, "he said he had to save me, what did he need to save me from Harry?"

Before Harry could try to give Reina an answer, the physician entered the room and came over to Reina.

He checked Reina over and was satisfied her fever had indeed broken and that she could begin the road to recovery but that she must not strain herself and that she needed to conserve her strength, eat well and get plenty of rest.

"You're eating for two now," the doctor smiled at her.

"What?" Harry's head snapped up to look at the doctor, "what did you say?"

"I believe," the doctor smiled, "that your wife is with child and what Reina has just experienced could have been quite dangerous for them both," he paused, "but for some unknown reason, she's come through it, they both have...congratulations."

Harry looked at Reina as the doctor busied himself tidying up his equipment.

"I'll check in on the Princess in the morning to see how she goes through the night," he smiled before seeing himself out.

"You're pregnant," Harry smiled widely, thrilled at the news of becoming a father as well as Reina expected to make a complete recovery.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, about my dreams," Reina whispered, "I...I didn't know how to tell you when I didn't understand it myself," she went on, "but now I do."

Harry held tight to Reina's hand as the other stroked her arm, silently waiting for her to continue.

"He said he had to protect me," Reina went on, "I saw a light and...and there was so much pain, but he said if I went to it that I," she paused for a moment, the realisation hitting her, "I would never see you again. Harry, I think he stopped me from dying."

Harry froze, not knowing what part to process from Reina's story first.

Instead her moved forward and wrapped his arms around her, moments later her neck was wet from his tears.

"I was so scared Harry," she said as she wiped away her own tears.

"It's okay my love," he rocked her gently in his arms, "you're safe now...you're safe."

From that moment on, Harry vowed to himself he would do anything in his power to protect his family.

Anything.
