Truce
Lotor raced down the halls as he snuck past the group of cadets in the way and he ran down to the medic wing. He saw Shiro outside a door speaking to some doctors as well with sam. Shiro looked over at Lotor with a soft smile and motion to behind him.
Lotor inhaled deep breath and walked quickly seeing all the doors were open slightly and could hear each Paladins voice from each except one. He knocked on the door of the quietest room.
"I'm not hungry," lance mumbled. Lotor slowly opened the door.
Lance was laying in the recovery bed and looked over his shoulder. He saw his exe and slowly started to sit up, Lotor could see his cast around his arm that was pulled to his chest by a sling, as well as a few bandages over his body.
They were silent as Lotor stood in the doorway. Lance sat in bed and broke their eye contact first.
"I.. I just wanted to make sure you were awake like the others... you really know how to get someone worried," Lotor rubbed his cheek where a bandage was on his own face.
Lance was silent.
"I-I mean especially since Sendak had you as a more personal prisoner and-" Lotor stopped there as his heart was pounding in his chest. He couldn't help but stumble over his words.
"Are you okay, old friend?" He whispered as lance stayed quiet.
"You are so lucky I really need a hug right now," lance sighed looking back at him. Tears in his eyes as he looked at Lotor trying to hold back.
Lotor didn't hesitate to go into lances open arm as they buried their faces in the others shoulder. The galra was careful with the humans broken arm but held him close.
Lotor didn't ask questions on why for these few minutes lance allowed the grudge to drop but he didn't care. It might be from exhaustion, or fear from the previous battle, but they had each other for support for so long that maybe it was just a way for lance to feel safe again, maybe just to ease him to feel like the battle is over. It didn't have to be romantic.
"I really needed this, I'm sorry," lance whispered after minutes of silence.
"I'm still upset," he sniffled pulling back as Lotor sat on the edge of the bed.
"I'm sure," Lotor nodded.
"Just get some rest for now, I just wanted to check on you and your well-being, I'll leave you alone now," he smiled gently as lance barely could hold eye contact with him.
"Can you come back later?"
Lotors chest rose and he held his breath for a moment of relief, studying lances body language, he smiled gently and nodded.
"Of course, how about two hours? If your still asleep I'll wait," Lotor stood up.
"Okay.." lance said slowly.
"Can you bring back some food?" He asked softly like he was pushing the line.
"I'll see what they have by then, but yes," Lotor chuckled gently and dimmed the lights for lance at the door and quietly left the room.
There was blush on the hybrids face as he stood outside the door for a moment to collect his thoughts. He didn't know what Lance wanted to talk about, there was plenty of options that could be what lance wants.
He could want closure, or even to talk about moving on from their past, it would break Lotors heart if that were true but he's already caused so much pain to his love. He wouldn't question it. He doubted that lance wanted to take him back... he was on earth again, he would be more accepted to be with someone else from earth...
Yet Lotor knew he would never love anyone else like he loved lance.
He probably should start to think about moving on as well if lance was. To heal.

"Hey, you're back?" Shiro saw Lotor coming back to lances door a few hours later.
"Lance asked me to come back to talk, humans food is edible when it looks like this correct?" Lotor offered Shiro with a plate of jello, toast, and a cup of fruit, he held a bottled water in the other.
"Yes it's edible," Shiro said flatly.
"Has his family come along to check on him? I saw the small Paladins family come through so I assumed..." Lotor trailed off and Shiro shook his head.
"No, Veronica asked me if he was okay and that was it, it's kind of you to still care for him, thank you," Shiro nodded slowly and Lotor looked a little disappointed but nodded back before knocking on lances door again.
"It's open," lance called back.
Lotor entered once more and lance had the window opened as he watched outside in the dimmed room. Lotor turned the lights on slowly and set the plate on the tray next to lances bed.
"Thanks," lance grabbed the water bottle.
"How did you rest?" Lotor pulled up a chair to sit in.
"It was needed, drugs are wearing off," lance sipped the water.
"You said You wanted to talk earlier," Lotor pursed his lips clasping his hands together in his lap. Lance nodded slowly.
"Yea, I think we need to have a real talk, we've argued and I've at least processed everything, from what you've told me and where we are now," lance sat up and turned his body to face his ex lover.
"I understand, we need to move on from our past, I need to take more accountability of my actions, my actions that hurt the one person I never wanted to hurt, I deeply apologize lance for the pain I've caused, I'm not making excuses for what happened there, no buts and ifs," Lotor pursed his lips.
"I just need you to know Lance, those were never my intentions, it was always to create a better future, a better universe where you never had to raise a gun at another life, I wanted peace for you, me, and the alteans, the galr-" Lotor stopped when lance put his hand up.
"What changed then?" Lance bit out.
"I can't think of why," Lotor sighed.
"I believe you Lo, I believe that your intentions were good, I know you, I know by heart you are a good man, I never thought you were evil, but in that battle what changed? You wanted to kill us all including everything you built," he sighed softly as he leaned back calmly.
"I don't have any reasons or excuses for it, I don't know, I just wanted the voices and the pain to stop, I don't remember what I said otherwise in that battle," Lotor leaned forward on his knees in the chair.
"I lost my mind and I'm still trying to find it again," he nodded slowly.
"I just want to make things right,"
Lances brow twitched a little at that.
"You can't make things right Lotor, not with what you've done," lance sighed shaking his head.
"I know," Lotor looked down.
"No I don't think you do know, Lo you fucked everything up, you lost it all," he narrowed his eyes a little.
"I know lance," the galra bit out.
"You know? Then why do you say you want to make things right? You lost the empire, you lost your generals, you lost your colony, you lost all of the universe!" Lance started to raise his voice as he stared at Lotor in pain.
"We lost our home," his voice cracked.
"We were so happy Lo, I would've done anything for you then, you were strong and successful and there was so much hope for the future Amor, and you lost it," a few tears ran down lances face as he choked at the end.
"Have I lost you as well my love?" Lotor took a step closer.
Lance inhaled a sharp breath seeing the gentle look on Lotors face, anxiety and regret in his eyes. He took another step forward and was only a foot away from the Paladin.
"Have I truly lost the only thing that matters to me?" He whispered gently wiping lances tears.
"No, I still love you," lance breathed touching his hand to his face.
"I would do anything to have your hand in mine again, to be able to make you smile, to be who you need to feel safe again my love, I don't care about the galra or the alteans if that meant I could be yours again," Lotor told him desperately as lance stepped closer to him.
"I know," Lance gulped.
Lotor held his hand gently and slowly pulled it up to press a soft kiss to his knuckles.
"I know my mistakes, but I promise Lance I'll make it up to you, I'll be better for you, just give me another chance," he whispered against his skin.
Lance blushed and looked away flustered, he forgot how charming the prince could be, his words were so believable and smooth.
"Show me, I don't want to hear promises I want to see them, I'll forgive you then when I can see it," lance told him sternly.
"I want to see you be better Lo, show me first and I'll consider being yours again," he sighed and flickered a little grin at him.
Lotor felt a smile crawl on his own face and agreed immediately, his chest filled with hope. He went to lean forward for a kiss but Lance put a finger to his lips to back him up.
"You haven't won me yet," lance told him raising a brow. Lotor blushed embarrassed but smiled nodding.
"Is there anything else we need to discuss?" Lotor gulped a little going back to the chair.
"I think that's it, I've gotten what I needed and I know where we stand," lance went to the bed and sat on the edge.
"Do you?" Lotor smirked.
"I'd like to think so," he had a mischievous grin on his face.
"Are you no longer upset? As much as I love your spite I don't like being on the end of it," Lotor ran a hand through his hair.
"Im not angry anymore, mostly, I think we can call it a truce," lance nodded.
"Then I'll let you continue to rest from the battle," the hybrid nodded.
"Could you stay?"
"Of course,"
