At the current moment since Gabriel's objective have changed from attacking and securing the border wall to stalling for time, he then had no choice but to quickly think of a way to stall for time against his current opponents, since the battle between the three of them had somewhat been a fast paced with no words to exchange at all, it was all just attack and attack till only one person is left standing and not much talking

Despite that Gabriel couldn't help but agree that the battle so far had also been a battle of wits between the three of them, with one striking a decisive blow which could literally kill a person, the one receiving it had to naturally think of multiple steps ahead of its opponent to be able to make a counter of its own, or else if one doesn't do such a thing then he or she would immediately get done in after a few steps

In other terms such a use of wits in battle is called battle knowledge which is born from pure instincts and reflexes

For him Archangels are the highest-ranking angels in heaven. In earth God gives them the most important responsibilities, and they travel back and forth between the heavenly and earthly dimensions as they work on missions from God to help human beings. In the process, each archangel supervises angels with different types of specialties—from healing to wisdom—who work together on the light ray frequencies that correspond to the type of work they do, which put them as superior to all races that dwells the earth or surface

By merely being able to stand firm in the presence of an archangel without faltering is already quite a feat, much less shows a battle prowess that is as quick as an archangel who is a veteran in battles, because of that Gabriel already looked out towards Leon and Benkei with a gaze that showed respect befitting of a noteworthy human and by the order of her queen he then naturally had to drag this on for much longer

"I couldn't even believe that a human such as yourselves are able to fight me head-on for about a few minutes now, what's more I'm even more surprised that your able to injure me despite being a human, well it should have been obvious already since it's a 1v2 but that only stands for the case if I'm fighting something supernatural and I'm pretty sure that you guys aren't supernatural at any means"

"Hah! talking about surprise and supernatural when the person himself is literally the supernatural himself, anyone would literally be surprised and scared if they are fighting and Archangel of myths and legends, especially since the creature himself doesn't bleed and have its injuries glow bright in this dark night, it is as if your literally made out mana itself" said Benkei as he observed any opening from Gabriel

"Me supernatural? do you not know what supernatural means? Supernatural comes from the Latin word supernaturalis, meaning beyond nature. "Are you serious?" asked Benkei as if he just couldn't understand the archangel right in front of him at all

At this very moment as if feeling was something doesn't add up due to the fact that they are talking in the midst of battle, Leon then suddenly talked out loud towards Gabriel, thus catching his attention

"You... Something doesn't add up! Just what are you aiming at?"

Seeing that the lancer commander is somewhat wary of his intentions, Gabriel then literally had to not make his objectives obvious, but such a case would only work if such a commander is not a smart one and all brawns, nevertheless he had to try since he doesn't have any other options 

"Somethings not right? Of course something is not right!!! Look where we are now!!! we are at the top of a wall in the middle of a huge battle, both of our troops are fighting fiercely with an intent to take their opponents down and here we are as the leaders of our respective group talking to each other as if we are inside a meeting or a picnic! How is that right to you? Pretty messed up right?" said Gabriel as he keep throwing bullshits at his opponents to prolong the talk and stall for time

"You... You're messing with our heads, your trying to divert our attention elsewhere, it is as if your trying to probe us to make an opening for you, do you really think we are dumb enough to fall for your tricks and make an opening so that you could finish us off?" asks Leon

"Is that his plan? Ooh! such a sneaky trick trying to make us slip up!"

Hearing that misunderstanding, Gabriel then finally saw the chance he got to prolong their conversation, thus all he had to do is act the part as if what they said was his intention all along

"So you actually caught up to my true intentions? you guys are really not as simple as I think you are, if you deduce that much then most likely both of you guys are quite experienced in battle" said Gabriel

"Pretty much! we've had our fair share of battle experience and every one of it is nothing but full of schemes and trickery, it is already rare for us to fight against some people who are all brawns and instincts and not leaning to more on underhanded tactics, people nowadays are such cowards" commented Benkei as he shared his own point of view

"Is that the case for the current humanity? looks like your race have fallen to deep into the darkness" said Gabriel as he pretended to sigh in dejection

"Is that a metaphor or something else like literal?" asks Benkei

At that Gabriel then gladly tried to reply towards Benkei's words when Leon suddenly cut off his train of thoughts

"Benkei! don't let your guard down! he's just talking to you to make you feel comfortable and let your guard down, if you fall for his trick then you would really be done for, in fact talking in battle in unnecessary! we should just kill him and be done with it!"

Hearing Leon's words Gabriel couldn't help but feel like his plan might fall apart if the human himself actually dared to finish their battle off, if that happen then his objective to stall for time would actually fail

In that moment numerous thoughts rushed up towards Gabriel as he thinks of a way to prolong their conversation and successfully accomplish his mission

This dammed human is ruining everything!!! do you really have to finish everything with violence? You brute! You muscle-head! You dumb-piece of f*cking shit! And they say humans were made in the image of god! I refuses to believe that such a brute would be liken to god itself!!! I have to think of a way to stall this longer!!! think Gabriel think!")

As Gabriel was thinking of any possible solution for this current problem while keeping a straight face, Leon on the other hand doesn't have that much leeway as he charged towards Gabriel's location causing the archangel himself to reflexively block his attack

"Sorry about that! but I'm no fan of people who try to stall for time by talking so much in the middle of the battle!" said Leon causing Gabriel to suddenly tense up

In that moment for the first time in his life Gabriel was totally surprised that the humans themselves actually managed to see through his intentions and false objective, much more he couldn't understand on just how did they manage to find him out, but one thing is for sure and that is talking to stall for time is already out of the matter

Through that  Gabriel side-stepped to redirect the force of Leon's thrust and slid his right blade across its lance while aiming to strike for his head, unfortunately the latter saw that attack coming as he quickly tilted his head to the side, thus barely dodging the blade by a few centimeters and causing it to brush past his helmet

With that successful dodge made by Leon, Gabriel then quickly clicked his tongue in dismay as he try to follow up his attack with a quick left moon blade swing, but this time the person himself was actually prepared for that follow up and forcefully smash his shield against  the moon blade in Gabriel's hand, causing sparks to fly as two metal collide against each other

Gritting his teeth in anger for failing to deliver a successful blow in two consecutive strike, Gabriel then quickly inserted more of his strength on his right leg to support his whole body and deliver a quick kick to the gut causing Leon to take the full brunt of the attack and being launched away in full force

But as Leon crashed unto the pavement of the wall, Benkei then quickly entered the fray as he thrusted his spear towards Gabriel, forcing the archangel to quickly crouch down to dodge the thrust of the spear and quickly reversing their position

Quickly following up their movements Gabriel then turned around to face Benkei who was behind him and started attacking him ferociously in any possible way, similarly when Benkei landed in two of his feet to the ground, he quickly kicked the end of his spear to hasten its rotation and strike behind him just in time to clash against Gabriel's blades

As Benkei thrusted his spear 36 times towards Gabriel in just 1 minute, the archangel naturally either dodge, block , or redirect his attack 36 times too, the same can also be said when Gabriel slashed his moon blades towards Benkei for about 36 times in just 1 minute, the latter would naturally either dodge, block, or redirect his attack at the same manner while changing their positions at times

After having a continued clash for about 5 minutes straight with no break, Leon finally got unto his feet and also joined the clash between Benkei and Gabriel, thus raising the pressure for the archangel, causing him to slowly loose ground

In that instant even though he is not at the disadvantage in term of overall status against the human commanders combined, Gabriel couldn't help but stuck on the defensive as he slowly back away and find for any opening within their rhythm at all

Even though humans are greedy, selfish, prideful, and ugly at time both inside out, one cannot refute that often times humans show themselves as intelligent, brave, creative, and resourceful creatures when needed in terms of their survival and such traits can now be found within the two humans right in front of him

In Actual fact for the longest time, Gabriel couldn't find any reason why his queen is fond of humans, with an exception from the twins that he had rescued and protected as a guardian and treated as nothing but somewhat akin to them, he always look at the other humans around  the queen as nothing but inferior species, but through this exchange he somehow saw something within his opponent that he never saw before and proven the fact that the humans are more than meets the eye

In that moment he suddenly received a message from Asagi through telepathy, causing to to feel relief for some reason

Upon receiving that signal, two huge white wings suddenly popped out of his back as he quickly pulled himself up to the air and ordered a command towards the whole attacking army including the human army that went along with them

"Everyone! Fall back! Stay away for about  1 kilometers away from the wall as quick as you can if you want to survive!"

Hearing his command all of the angels then quickly followed his order as they fall back with their remaining force, causing the human army that was allied with them to hesitate for a little before falling back for about 1 kilometer away from the wall just like ordered from above

In the end the wall was then left with the Empire's soldiers, causing everyone to feel confused from the situation as they saw the enemy forces exactly retreating for a bout 1 kilometer away from them and in that moment all of the commanders of the empire suddenly felt a bad premonition after seeing the tactical retreat of their enemy
