Chapter 134: The Heart of Eternal Frost

[Azure kingdom, White Castle]

2 days has passed since the day when Asagi met the council, the residents of the Azure Kingdom itself were living their ordinarily life without worry or stress. Unknown to them, the reason why kingdom is so at peace was because all the troubles and dangers that happened are all dealt with by the angels themselves and such news never escaped their lips.

One apparent proof of this, is that Leila, David, and other port town survivors that are currently residing within the kingdom itself, doesn't even know that there had been a tribal war about a few weeks ago. They were completely kept in the dark of such danger as they goes on in repairing their life. That's just shows the level of governance that Asagi had done in order to make its residence safe. Just like the saying "For the sake of everyone's safety, one had to dirty their hands in the dark in order to live in the light".

In that note, one particular archangel doesn't sit well with this kind of preferential treatment. Azrael himself couldn't help but feel nauseas and sick as he continued to watch the peace that is displayed right in front of him. He himself knows just how many blood and cries that their queen had done in the dark for the safety of her citizens, practically the so called queen of this kingdom is the only one solving all the problems.

With that notion, Azrael affirmed himself that he would kill any mortal human that dared to be ungrateful towards his queen without knowing anything. This peace  that they are enjoying are the result of countless sacrifice, thus there is no room for any ungratefulness.

Putting a stop in his patrol all over the kingdom in disguise, Azrael landed in the garden of the castle, as he quickly transformed his whole appearance into that of a human maid in order to avoid any prying eyes from the human servants themselves. Even thought no human is hostile against him in this castle, he still couldn't stomach the eyes that were watching him whether in fear or admiration. He was better off to be left unnoticed, than to be the center of attention.

Putting that topic aside, the reason why Azrael can transform his appearance into anything, is not because due to his rune law of death, but rather to his inherent trait itself which is quite unique from the other archangels. Based on human ideology, death itself comes from all sort of shape and sizes, meaning there is no specific appearance for death.

Aside from his main appearance as the black winged archangel of death, he can transform himself into anything literally. He can be a woman, young girl, boy, man, dog, cat, energy, gas, and even objects such as trucks, crane, and etc. One apparent proof of this is that he had historically appeared over Egypt in a form of a haze which killed every first born in the 13th century BCE in the time of Moses.

With that he can come and go without anyone noticing that death itself had already passed by.

As he got to a corner where the human soldiers were patrolling the hallway, he then transformed his body into a human soldier himself, as he calmly bypassed the guards and went to another corner at the end of the hallway. Following that to further avoid the eyes of some servants in the castle, he then transformed into a black cat as he crawled with his tiny paws and smoothly avoided the bypassing people.

As he continued to roam the castle in his cat form, Azrael then bypassed a large door, as he felt recognizable energy inside the room. Recognizing the energy as something that originated from his queen, Azrael then became curious as he transformed into a black smoke and slipped through the small openings of the door.

Once he got inside, he then transformed back to his original appearance as an archangel, as he looked in the wide empty room and saw a  cradle size sphere of light in the middle of the said empty room. As he got closer to the sphere of light with his silent steps, he then felt the rune law of transmigration in the sphere which signifies as life force that supports whatever it is in the sphere of light.

With a lone sphere which is powered with the rune law of transmigration and the mana of his queen, Azrael became curious even more as he slowly approached and took a peek on what was important that was stored in the sphere itself. Since the sphere was kept in the farthest part of the castle, Azrael knew that such a thing must be quite important due to the fact of its high secrecy.

But the moment he took his peek, confusion washed over his face as he only saw two measly small sphere object inside  the sphere of light. Seeing such not so amazing find, Azrael was somewhat disappointed as he even felt that such sphere itself was too much and a waste just to use it for such damp and empty place. The more he look around, he couldn't help but wonder whether this place was a storage dump at its early phase.

However as he thought of this, something caught his sense, as he felt a sign of life coming from the sphere of light itself.

"A sign of life? What the? What is this?"

Looking again at the sphere of light, Azrael then looked closer at the small sphere like bead inside the sphere of light, as he noticed that the sign of life literally came from those small sphere like bead itself. Now that he took a closer look the surface of the small like bead, was not like a porcelain surface at all, but rather a thin membrane that store something further inside of it. Luckily for him the membrane itself is slightly transparent as he squint his eyes even more and saw a small unrecognizable creature inside.

Based on the shape of the creature and the prediction on how it would form, such creature would mostly likely shape into a human baby in the near future. Of course its not just one, but rather two of them. In that moment Azrael was shocked and confused on how this came to be. Where  did this human infant came from? who made it? who's its father? its mother? was this the queen's offspring? who was his queen's partner? or perhaps was this the taboo homunculus?, such questions flooded his thoughts as Azrael saw the pair of infants in the sphere of light.

If this was a homunculus baby, then his queen herself had done something unimaginable and taboo which is equivalent to desecration of life, the judgment for such act was the death of the homunculi themselves. Destroying the sphere of light and culling the infants is easy as pie for him, after all his rune law of death is the literal opposite of the rune law of transmigration. Life and death are two sides of the same coin, as long as he inputs his energy on the sphere of light, both powers would cancel each other out which would expose the infants themselves.

But just at the thought of it passed his mind, he then came into a stop and wondered, what if the infants were not homunculus but rather real humans? then wasn't his act of killing them considered as a sin?. With such thoughts his action then came into a pause as he hesitated on doing the act itself.

If he wanted answers, then he had no choice but to ask the queen or watch the kids grow before he make his move.

In that moment he then felt a presence approaching this room as he slowly stepped back and blended unto the darkness itself.

Not long after the door soon opened as Anna and Lloyd cutely opened the door and took a peak inside, as wonder and excitement filled their eyes. Closing the door as quietly as possible the twins then slowly approached the sphere of light as they wowed and awed at the infants yet to be formed inside the sphere of light.

Based on what he knows, Anna and Lloyd are the first two humans that his queen had took in in her travel across the central continent. She found the twins in  the razed port town that was destroyed by the sea goblins. With the help from Michael and Gabriel, they were able to rescue the twins from harm and somewhat survived the unending onslaught. Based on the report, due to the fact that the force back then was small, it was quite a challenge for them to take on multitudes of enemy all on their own.

The only reason why they managed to get through the situation is all because of the support from the cannons below the Kingdom itself. Aside from that, the twins themselves are loyal subject to the queen herself, yet despite that, he was somewhat skeptical towards the queen. With it, he begun listening in to the conversation between them.

"Whoa! so this are those baby's that are adopted by big sister Asagi?" reacted by Lloyd

"Yup! they are the ones, based on what big sister Ariel had said, this babies are the one who will be soon called as big sister Asagi's children" replied by Anna

"If they will be her children, wouldn't that mean that they will be our future young master?"

"Yup! so that's why we will have to serve them righteously  just as how we served big sister Asagi"

"But isn't it weird? they don't look like human at all, they look more like rats"

"Don't say that! didn't you learn anything at school? the reason why they still don't look human is because they're still forming into one, even thought we cant call them officially humans yet, but they are humans through and through with their biology"

"Whoa! sister you memorized all that?"

"Of course! its mandatory knowledge, what were you doing during the lesson?"

"Well i couldn't help but fall asleep whenever the teacher is speaking"

"You idiot! do you want to shame big sister Asagi?"

"What? No! I don't want to"

"Then don't fall asleep during class, it would be quite an embarrassment if i heard a rumor that a servant of the queen is sleeping in class... we are not ordinary people anymore Lloyd, we have a reputation to keep up with"

"Your right! I'll try my best not to fall asleep"

"Don't try your best, do it!"

Seeing that the conversation was slowly becoming non-sensible, Azrael then chose to leave the place, as he slips into the darkness and left the room. Based on how much the twins respected Asagi, he is somewhat relived that they weren't corrupted just yet in order to enact such a sin.

*********
[Ice Cavern]

Located somewhere deep within a mountain, the albino Demon limp his way through the room as he felt fatigue strike him all over his body. For the past couple of days, he had been in a life and death situation as he tried his best to get to the deepest floor and reach the end of the dungeon.

During his course of dungeon raiding, he had sacrificed a lot of his demons in order to reach this floor, now that he actually reached the deepest floor, he couldn't help but feel the sense of success at the edge of his finger tips.

There were no monsters in the deepest part of the dungeon, the only thing that resides in it's depths is the huge like ice egg in the middle of the room which even made the albino demon look like an ant from its size alone. His target this time, is the thing that was sleeping inside the egg, no matter what he should sacrifice, he needed to wake this creature up.

With an evil laughter, the Albino demon plunged his hand unto his chest, as he pulled out its own heart and squeezed the blood out of it and splash it across the ginormous egg. Following that with an incantation, he then begun setting up a rune mark all over the egg as he continued its own evil laughter, before he loses the feel in his body.

With language quite foreign to this world, the demon happily let out an even more menacing laughter as the ground trembled and the runes lighting up which disturbs whatever it is inside the egg. As the quake got more violent, the ceiling begun falling on top on him as he continued to laugh while having his body buried in ice itself.

"Rise! Awake! havoc! destruction! ahahahahahahaha!"

As the Albino said those words, a huge icicle then suddenly dropped from the ceiling as it fell off and literally crushed the head of the albino demon. But despite dying in such a gruesome way, the albino demon kept laughing until the end as he witness the egg cracking at his last moments.

In that moment one of the surface of the egg finally fell apart, as it showed the part of the creature that was sleeping inside. The moment the creature inside opened its eyes that symbolizes a a sharp pupil that see far and wide, it then let out a stinging sharp shriek as it echoed out throughout the earth, as if telling the world that it had awoken from its slumber.
