Chapter 2

(Art not mine)

Six and Seven stared at one another, a serious look on both of their faces.

"Whatever the problem is, Mom didn't hear it," Six started.

"His signal was weak, so this kid is just in reach of us. We don't have a map, but I can only guess he's near some kind of signal tower or something."

"We didn't even get info on what he looks like. Mom only said she saw some kinda paper bag on his head."

"She also said his name was Mono. He's a kid with a number for a name as well. Mono means one. It's starting to seem strange to me... we're named after numbers, could it mean something?"

"Well, I know the first deadly sin is pride. Could that somehow be tied to him? I mean, if we're going off of my crazy seven deadly sins theory and all that."

"It seems plausible. Your name is related to gluttony, and... you do have those... hunger spells."

The two fell into an awkward silent, breaking eye contact, shuffling slightly where they stood. Six's hunger wasn't a thing the two would normally bring up. She turned ravenous, animalistic, unstoppable in her search to end her monstrous appetite.

"Well, I have something that doesn't add up though. The seventh deadly sin is sloth, laziness. You're not lazy, Sev," Six stated.

Seven gave a nod, putting his hand to his chin in thought. "Well, there's pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. Whatever the case, I thought it could be useful to us."

Suddenly, Six's shadow formed ghostly white eyes, blinking them before a figure jumped out.

"You guys try actually looking out at the land we're stopping it? It might help," said Negative, a small smile forming on her ash colored face.

Six smiled to her, slightly waving to her. "Hey, Negative! Mom told you?"

"Yeah, she wasn't kidding about the signal either. We tried to call back and try to get in touch with him, but we haven't even made contact with any nearby communicators. Think something may be in the way?"

Seven gave a nod. "Seems like it. Are we almost to land?"

Negative nodded to him. "Yep! We should be getting there shortly, like half an hour or so. Also, have one of you guys seen a puppy? One of the guest lost them and Mr. Roger is too sick to look. Bad case of the sniffles after that pipe broke and splashed water on him."

"This tall, fluffy, multi colored, and two different eyes?" Six asked, making hang motions with her words.

Her shadowy other nodded yes. "Yeah, just like that."

"Nope, haven't seen her..." Six said quickly, flashing the other an innocent smile,

"Highly accurate for someone who hasn't seen the dog. You hiding something, Little?" Negative asked, stepping closer to her sister as she continued with her questions.

"Nothing up my sleeves, in my hood, or in my pockets," she replied. Seven chuckled, briefly shaking his head.

"You two really are sisters... hey, Six, wanna go tell the Nomes that we're gonna be gone for bit? I'm sure Billy or Skyshine would like to know before we head out."

"Yeah, let's. Race you!"

The secret Nome rooms. Small, hidden rooms scattered about in the Maw that were used for any tired creature that stumbled into the restaurant. Six couldn't count how many times these areas came into use when she and Seven set out to stop the lady, back when they were one year younger.

Six found it hard she was now sixteen and that her once small, nightmare cuddle buddy was now almost seventeen.

Time really flies it feels like. Once moment they were barely big enough to scare a rat away and now all they had to do was glance at one and it would run away with its tail between its legs.

She could faintly remember when Seven saved her once, scaring off a group of Nomes who threw cans at her. Ricardo, Tony, and Jeff had it coming for them, being the helpless victims of a hunger spell. A small smirk tugged at her lips, a sharp fang slightly glistening at the thought.

She quickly snapped herself out of it, realizing she might trigger a sudden hunger by accident. Her brown eyes scanned the room, finding the Mawthian Nome's leader sitting at a small wooden table.

"He nearly stepped on me! Can you believe it? I know I'm small, but these people need to watch were they're putting their feet," he groaned, whiny voice sounding throughout the small, metal surrounded room.

A smaller Nome with a must more softer look to her glanced up from her sketchbook, a small light blue necklace around her neck. "Billy, the more you talk about it the less sympathy I'm currently feeling for you..." she muttered.

"Hey, Billy, hey, Sky," Seven greeted, gently waving a hello to the two small creatures. The look looked to them, cone shaped hats obscuring some (if not most) of their vision.

"The brave duo who saved us from crazy kimono woman! Sylvester and Sasha!" Billy said, getting up from his spot to greet the two.

"Actually, it's Six and Seven," Skyshine corrected, placing her stuff down and came to greet them as well.

Billy rolled his head, which was the closest visible motion to rolling his eyes. "Close enough. What do you kids need?"

Seven rested his arm on Six's shoulder easily, being almost a half head taller then her. "We just came to tell ya me and Six are gonna be gone for'a bit."

"Gone?" Skyshine asked, her soft youthful voice filled with worry. "Gone where?"

"Just on a short trip for Ms. Veronica," Seven explained, reaching down and patting the small Nome on her head. "We'll be back before anyone notices. Billy, could you tell the others that too? I know some of the Nomelings like to come play with us, and they might be missing their play buddies."

"Can do, Bluejacket," the older Nome replied, before eyeing the two. "You know, if this actually is some kind of honeymoon, I'm very disappointed you didn't let me and the others throw the wedding."

Six felt Seven quickly snatched his arms off of her shoulder, making her look to him. His cheeks were dusted red, crossing his arms as he spoke, "It's not a honeymoon, Billy, we're not even close to that."

Skyshine gave a small giggle, before shaking his head. "Sorry, Sev, I just can't take you serious when you get that flustered. You look like an apple!"

"I-I do not!" Seven shouted, voice cracking. Six held back a small snort of laughter at the sudden change, before patting his back.

"We've almost landed. By the time we get back we'll already be stopped and Mom will be looking for us. Got your flashlight?"

The flustered other pulled the flashlight out from his belt loop, clicking it on, obviously not trusting himself to speak.

"Good, I got my lighter. Alright, we'll be going now--"

"Wait! I want a goodbye hug!" Skyshine quickly stated, coming up and jumping into Six's arms. The two wrapped their arms around one another, the small Nome in her arms letting out a small purring noise.

Six looked out for the corner of her eyes, seeing Seven get tackled into his own hug by Billy. The noticeable larger Nome nearly made the thin boy fall over, but luckily straightened himself out. Seven returned the hug, the same small purring noise coming from the Mawthian Nome leader.

A small smile formed on her lips, before falling. Something didn't seem to settle right in her... but what?

"Clover, where is your sister?" Veronica asked, nervously pacing along the floor of her quarters.

The black, ghostly like figure held back the want to groan, watching her mother nearly trail a trench into the ground.

"Momma, I told you, she'll be back in a sec. Calm down, you're gonna give yourself gray hairs," Negative spoke, resting her head in her hand as she laid down on her side.

"Don't say that, I'm only in my thirties, do not rush me!" Veronica said, looking over to the shadow. Negative rolled her stark white eyes, silently going back and watching the tall woman go back to pacing.

"Have you tried getting in touch with Mono again?" she asked, eyes glancing to the mirror on her vanity. It was cracked, but a cracked screen didn't mean the end of something. Negative just couldn't wrap her head around why her mother never bought a new one. It was kinda creepy, with everything else.

The low lighting and random dolls and blank wooden mannequins only seemed to make the room look a little more unsettling to person. There was a large wooden wardrobe in one room and a large purple canopy bad in the room left of them.

"I've tried I'm sure how many times, but nothing is picking up. I got though maybe once, but I only saw a figure run by. I don't even know if he is alive..."

"Don't say that, have some faith in the kid," Negative said, rolling on her stomach and looking up at her.

"Clover, I should just call it off, what if they get hurt out there? What if one of them die? What if both of them die?"

"I can already see the gray hairs from here... Mom it's going to be fine, I'm gonna go with them. I can be their eyes from the sky!"

Before any more could be said, the door opened, a girl in a raincoat and a boy in a blue jacket entering.

"Oh, there you are. You have me so worried!" Veronica said, picking the two up with her magic. "Sorry! We took a bit more time then we thought!" Seven said, trying to steady himself in the air.

"Now is not the time. Let's get you two to the exit."

A bit bland, sorry. I tried to do a little bit of character for the two, but I'm not sure if I did good or not.
