Chapter 39.

UWA

Our first stop when we returned home was my house. After dropping me off, the driver proceeds to taking him to his own apartment.

I miss you already-D❤❤

But you just saw me😊😊
-Me

That does not mean I
can't miss you- D❤❤

Let me know when you
get home- Me

I drop my bags in my room and proceed to clean up the room so I can rest. After having a good mid-day nap, I start cleaning the remaining parts of the house. I leave for a few days and the whole place is already dusty. This weather is something else!

I am glad today is Friday which means there is no work till Monday. My phone rings, taking me off my chores for a while.

"My darling." Deji says over the phone. I just chuckle and respond to him.

"Heyy." I say.

"I called you several times and you didn't pick."

"Sorry, I was asleep."

"Guessed as much. I'm home now. Let me guess, you are cleaning?"

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"I know you so well, Uwa." He states, laughing lightly.

The Next day, we have our routine Saturday meal preparation where Deji was my kitchen assistant. I really  enjoyed sending him on errands.

On Sunday, we went on a date at the Nike Art Gallery in Lekki. The weekend was really fun and exciting.

We get to his house and make our way to the door. He kisses me on my lips, taking his time to explore the lower part, biting on it playfully. He fondles with the key and uses it to open the door and shuts it behind us, holding me by the waist while he places kisses on my shoulders.

Together, we move to the couch where he places me on his laps and began devouring my lips like our existence depends on it. We stopped to stare into our eyes.

In the darkness, I could still feel his face close to mine, his nostrils exhaling warm air as he studied me. My mind beat faster and faster, I cherished every single aura of bliss attached to this moment.

As his lips touched mine again, I blossomed like a flower and like hands stuck in the strings of a guitar, so did my heart beat pause.

Before I could catch my breath, his hands were already all over me, tracing every inch of my sides.

I felt the rush of happiness buzz through me and the warmth that made my knees go limp. Good gracious I am on his laps else my legs would have lost their own will.

I draw him closer to me and he inclines his face towards mine, his mouth parts my shaking lips and helps balance my countenance while leaning in for a kiss which starts slowly at first but more intense some seconds after.

I felt his tongue slip into my mouth and I take that chance to savor the wine taste in it. A low moan escapes my mouth as our tongues battle for dominance which he eventually won.

"Uwa.." He groans as his lips trail across my jaw, down my throat where he leaves tiny loves bites before eventually settling on my chest area.

His hand reaches out to touch my stomach and I feel a slight churn in me. Reaching for the tip of my top, he takes them off and I hastily lift my hands for the shirt to be discarded. My senses finally kicked in after he had taken off my bra and moved to doing the same with the heans I had on. Am I ready for that? No!

I hastily stop his hands movement and shake my head in disagreement. One look and he understands perfectly. We settled for kissing and make out, not tuning no degree higher.

•••••

The first two days of the week went on without hitches. On the third day; Wednesday, let us just say I wish the day did not come. If I had known today would be a problematic one, I would have come prepared. Let me give a recap on how everything started.

In the elevator today, I was not alone and what was more surprising was the fact that it is not the other three persons on this floor with me nor any other member of staff. This is a different person. I watch as she plays with her perfectly manicured acrylic nails.

Imagine my shock when we get off the elevator and she starts making her way to Deji's office. Dropping my bag, I walk briskly to catch up with her.

"Excuse me, I think you are on the wrong path." I say to her because from the work schedule, I don't recall him having a meeting slated for this time.

"I am not. As a matter of fact, I am here to see Deji." She hisses, not stopping in her tracks. I had no choice but to block the office door.

"Move." She says, rolling her eyes.

"No. You need to book an appointment with him." I state, trying to be calm. It's on rare occasions like this that this job annoys the hell out of me.

I feel a figure behind me and of course, it takes nothing to figure put that it is Deji.

"Debby." He says in a raspy voice. What the hell? And who is she?

She chuckles before pushing me out of her way and walking into his office. They shut the door on my face. Wow!

He started acting weird since that day and even introduces me as his assistant. What happened to the 'girlfriend' aspect of our relationship? One time, he snapped at me when I made efforts to talk aboyt it.

The few times he even acknowledges my presence, ge usually spoke in dry and uninterested tones.

This nonsense rigmarole with Deborah has been going on for almost one week now and in my mind, I have been trying to give him benefit of doubt but he does not seem to want to come around. I guess I would have to forcefully talk to him.

When I returned from lunch break, I did not bother stopping at my desk. I head straight to his office and knock before entering, not waiting for his permission either.

"Where's he?" I ask the bitch sitting on his sofa. I thought I would meet him alone.

"None of your business. Now get out."

"You must be stupid." I shoot at her, very irritated. I have settled for waiting for him outside his office as we need to talk and I don't want this jobless irritant to spoil my mood.

I yelp in pain when I feel a sharp pain course through my scalp. In reflex, I turn back and give her a resounding slap on her face and before I could get hold of the situation, we are sprawled on the floor, me ontop of her, in a cat fight.

"What the hell is going on here?" Deji's voice break us off our fight and she immediately starts faking tears. What is all this? How much pretense must she have put up in her life that crying is now easily attainable?

"Ow, my hand!" She cries out. This pretending idiot. The annoying thing is that he shoves me aside and goes to check on her.

"Deji, I..." I trail off trying to explain.

"I expected more from you." He shoots back with venom laced in his eyes.

"I didn't do anything." I say in defence.

"It's a lie. She pulled my hair, slapped me and even twisted my wrist." God, what sort of lie is this? Her swolen face gave off the slap part as he inspects her face, carefully before turning back to look at me.

"You should know better than to do this, Uwa. In as much as there might be something going on between us, I expect you to observe decorum where amd when neccessary." I don't understand. How did we go from nada to here? There might be something? MIGHT? REALLY?

"I'm sorry." I say quietly. In my presence, this man was hugging this stupid liar who sent me an evil victorious smile when he was not looking.

I have had enough of this. I can't deal any more. I just walk out of his office and head to mine. I continue my work for the day, pretending to be fine.

Once the time struck for end of work, I mail the documents I had completed to Deji and went home.

Deji,

For all it was worth, I did love you
and what is more painful and hurting is the fact that I still do.

Uwa.

Those were the words in the letter I sent to hin, alongside my resignation letter. I securely look the doors and dragged my suitcase to begin my journey.
