Oceanus
Being on land had felt odd, in Oceanus's opinion, though he did not truly realize just how odd until he returned to the freedom of his water. There was a freedom that came from not being confined to moving about with your feet relying on standing on the solid ground. He did not understand the reluctance that he had seen in the muscular man on the shore to even touch the water. The only reason he could think of for its existence at all was that Tyr had never felt the freedom of swimming free under the waves.
The thought of someone judging his world without ever having truly felt the freedom it offered saddened Oceanus deeply. And he certainly did not like that feeling at all. So instead of focusing on it, he sped off through the waves to the deeper depths, rolling and flipping through the water to cheer himself.
It did not take too long before Oceanus had forgotten the sadness he had felt when he was nearer the surface, and he settled near the bottom, trying to decide what to do first. He had so many ideas of the wonders he could create that he did not know where to start first.
Yet, he did not allow his indecision to slow his actions for too long. Instead, he recalled his physical form to sit with crossed legs upon the coarse ground that kept the water from draining away from it's resting place. He sat, deep in thought, willing the currents to still around him so he did not drift from his spot without having to spend the energy to anchor himself.
As much as he wanted to rush into making a large, beautiful, colorful creation to fill the waters, he paused. If that was what he were to create first, there would be nothing to sustain the creature's life other than his own Power. It may be better to begin by making smaller things, and working his way towards larger creatures. In that way he would be able to create a whole system that could support itself so he could just continue to create new and interesting things.
But how to support the smallest creatures? He could not just keep making smaller and smaller things for eating. Perhaps...
Perhaps that was where Tyr's help could do something. The man had mentioned creating plants to grow in the water of his Ocean. The small creatures could eat the plants that were going to be growing, and then everything would be interconnected. And when all was established, they would be able to sustain themselves while he found new and other ways to entertain himself.
That sounded just absolutely perfect.
Oceanus's excitement became visible in a riot of bubbles that formed around him before he released his form and shot back to the surface. He would find Tyr and together, they would work the wonders that had come to his mind, and maybe many many more.
The air of the surface was startling after being beneath the water for so long, but Oceanus took it as a sign that he was that one step closer to finding Tyr. Then he would be able to share everything that had come to mind when he was in the depths.
That was when the water shook. It was an alarming feeling. There was something moving in the depths that was large enough to cause swell after swell. Something was deeply wrong in his home.
All thoughts of his own creations as well as finding Tyr to share them with him fled. Instead a roiling, dark feeling of anger rose in his veins, echoed in rising waves around him, the water became choppy and as gray as the stone on the shore. It was a physical reflection of his sudden anger.
Who was disturbing his ocean?
Oceanus rushed along the nearly boiling surface of the water, the effects of his anger following him with ever roughening waves. He wished he knew more words to properly curse his feelings to the air, but as he did not, there was just more emotion put into the water around him. Had he been anyone other than himself, he would have been dashed to pieces by the roughness of the waves themselves.
It did not take long before Oceanus saw the cause of the disturbance in his domain, masses of land rising up where there once was only water. This had to be the work of Tyr, for that was the only person that had command over the lands that he knew. He was the only one he knew at all.
What was that fool doing, invading his spreading seas like this?
Oceanus's ire only rose higher at the sight of another spit of land rising up through his waves. The view was offensive as island after island popped up out of the water, looking almost as though they were giant footsteps leading to deeper and deeper water.
It took seeing a few misshapen islands appearing before Oceanus manage to guess where the next lump would appear. He made his way to be above it as the rock rose from the water, leaving him standing on his own two feet, waves smashing unforgivably against the craggy stone with the force of his anger.
And then Tyr appeared before him, confusion clouding the bright green eyes. "What causes your anger?" the Spirit of the Land asked, all grumpiness that usually tinged his words was gone, instead replace with what sounded like concern.
But why?
"Anger? What causes me anger?" Oceanus burst out, waves crashing around them almost seeming an answer to his questions. "Might be th' land yer pushin' up in me waters! Why d'you invade me such?"
"Invade?"Tyr asked, sounding gruff once more. He crossed his arms across his chest, making his muscles bulge in an intimidating manner. "I am not invading you. I could not swim in your waters, so I had to create a way for me to get further out on your waters. I can't make the plants for you grow so far out in the depths if I am restricted to just being so close to the shore. My powers are great, but no one's powers are that great."
It was Oceanus's turn to cross his arms. "Ye expect me ta believe ya jus' are makin' things pop up like this fer no other reason?" he accused.
"What other reason would I have? I was the one who made the basin for your ocean to form. I have no wish to take it all back, especially after knowing the water has you at its heart," Tyr defended himself, letting his hands fall back to his sides with a bit of a shrug. It seemed as though he were trying to look less intimidating if possible. "Just as I would never attempt to steal the Darkness of the skies, nor the light of the Stars from Nyx or Polaris. I just wish to create more beauty in this world that seems to only grow more by the day."
The waves around the small spit of land calmed slightly as Oceanus heard Tyr's words. "Those're pretty words."
"Does my honesty make them better?" Tyr asked seriously, meeting Oceanus's gaze with a steady look of his own.
"Fer now," Oceanus agreed, the waves ceasing their harsh pounding entirely, returning to the calm lapping motions that it had characterized its motions before that point. "Ye can prove 'em to me an' make 'em even better. We need ta talk 'bout what comes next."
Tyr nodded his answer, dropping down onto the ground to sit, legs crossed beneath him comfortably. Oceanus laughed as he followed suit, thinking about how he had just been sitting like this on the ocean floor.
That had been the more comfortable of the two areas to sit.
"I was jus' thinkin' 'bout th' things I want ta make, but ta make 'em, th' critters need things ta eat. So I thought maybe if ya make plants things can eat," Oceanus said, leaning forward, eyes alight with excitement as he launched into explaining to Tyr exactly the sort of things he had been considering before the rude interruption. This was the first step in filling his water with the wonders that filled his imagination.
