Chapter 4: 9.12.1: Sharp Teeth
Eliza growled and threw the box down on the ground before looking back up in the mirror and glaring at her reflection. She hated the change and suddenly wished she could go back to her natural color, but knew that it was too late. The pigments had been stripped and she either had to wait until it grew out again or redye it a different orange.
"Hey, Eliza, I found—what the hell?" She glanced in the corner of the mirror to see Sam staring at her in shock. "Why are you blonde?" Eliza rolled her piercing green eyes.
"Isn't it obvious, or are you just that dumb?" she snapped. "No wonder why Crowley calls you Moose." Sam frowned slightly and turned to walk away when Eliza clenched her eyes shut, calling out his name. "Wait. Stop. I'm sorry." She leaned forward on the sink, both hands on the edge as she sighed. "I didn't mean to snap at you. I'm just pissed. It didn't turn out how I wanted it to."
"Why'd you bleach it anyways?"
"Advice from an old friend." She turned to look at the Hunter. "And it's horrible. I should kill him." Sam chuckled, knowing she was joking. He shrugged, walking forward and twirling a lock around his finger as he studied it.
"Doesn't look bad. Blonde suits you, unlike Meg." The duo laughed. It was true. Meg really didn't look good as a blonde. "I do like your orange hair, though. I'm not saying that this is horrible but—" He shrugged again. "—what's done is done." Eliza nodded and sighed through her nose, her gaze meeting Sam's. He pulled his finger from her hair and stared into her eyes. They weren't as cold as they were the first time he'd seen her. Sure, Gadreel was taking the reigns of his body, but he still saw her.
"Sam, you're staring."
"Why were you so quick to side with Nadia?"
"She's my mother. I trusted her like an idiot. And then Gadreel came into the picture and, well, I couldn't let Nadia kill him. He was using you as a meatsuit. I think you're definitely hotter alive." They both let out a short laugh, Sam shaking his head. Eliza unconsciously rubbed the Mark on her wrist as Sam continued to smile down at her.
"I can say the same to you." He leaned down and closed his hazel eyes, their lips centimeters apart. Right when they met they heard a crash from the kitchen and Sam sighed, pressing his lips in a thin line and pulling away. Eliza cleared her throat awkwardly.
"I think you should go make sure he's okay," she whispered. Sam nodded and rushed out to the kitchen, leaving Eliza to turn and look back at her reflection in the mirror. Her irises flashed black and she scowled, punching the sink. The basin only slightly cracked, but not enough to cause any damage or a leak. She eyed her bruised knuckles. She needed to find the Sword of Elizabeth and she needed it now.

"You're still here," Cas noted. She looked up from her phone and nodded, still biting her lower lip in thought. She sat in a black leather chair in the corner of the library, her knees pulled up to her chest and her legs bent to the side slightly, her bare feet tucked under her. Cas squinted his eyes and tilted his head to the side. "Why are you blonde?"
"Change. I like change, Castiel," she replied in a monotone.
"No you don't."
"No I don't," she agreed, sighing and turning off her phone. "I hate it. Get rid of it."
"I can't." She threw her head back and groaned. "I do have a question."
"What else is new?" she asked with a snort. Cas glared at her with his lips pressed in a thin line. He was most certainly not amused by the demon before him. "What is it?"
"How were you able to heal Sam? You said there was still some of your Grace left in you but I know that was a lie. All angels were cast from Heaven which is why you were split in two." Cas leaned forward. "What are you hiding, Eliza?" he hissed. She rolled her eyes and looked up again, eyebrows raised.
"You honestly don't think that Azrael was Hell's only angel, did you?" Cas furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Hell's Angel and Heaven's Demon are equal in power, not to mention they're the same damn thing. Libby and I are Hell's Archangel, but we're also one of Heaven's demons. I think there's only two of us," the, now, blonde explained.
"Demons aren't equivalent to Archangels." Eliza chuckled, grabbing her phone and going back to the app she was on.
"No, Feathers, they're not. The Devil is an Archangel. Heaven's Demon just sounds better than Heaven's Devil, doesn't it?" Cas nodded his head to the side in agreement. He would never agree with Eliza out loud, but she did have a point. "But if you wanted to be technical, then yes. I am Heaven's Devil and I'm also Hell's Archangel. Nadia is simply the cloud's demon. She's just equal in power as us because we're not at full potential."
"You need to remerge with Libby to be at full power and defeat her." Eliza clicked her tongue and pointed a finger gun at Castiel as if to tell him he was right. "That's why you want to find Libby. You need her to kill Nadia."
"Wow. You catch on fast," she said in a bored tone. Castiel simply rolled his blue eyes. "Have you heard from Sam?"
"No, I came to ask you that. Do you know where he is?" She looked up, pursing her blood red lips in thought.
"I think he said he was on a hunt in New Mexico. I told him to call me if he needed any help." As if on cue, Eliza's phone shrilled. Both celestial beings glanced down at it, the demon swiping her finger across the screen and putting it on speaker. "You're on speaker. Keep it clean." Sam chuckled and an amused smile crossed Eliza's lips.
"Listen, I'm on my way to a case in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Do you want to join?"
"Will Dean be there?" It was quiet for a moment, giving Eliza her answer. "I'm gonna take that as a yes even though you're not completely sure." Eliza's gaze drifted down to the Mark on her wrist. She needed to yell at Dean. "Yeah, I'll come. When do you want me to pop in?"
"Well, I can send you my location now and you can pop in the car if you want." She nodded and hummed in agreement. Sam seemed to get the message and a few seconds later her phone dinged.
"Alright. Give me a minute." Eliza hung up and slid the phone in her pocket before jumping up from the seat. Ignoring Castiel, she raced to her room and slipped on her boots before rifling through the closet to find the box that contained Libby's Sword. She grinned. "Bingo," she whispered, running her fingers along the Enochian symbols. They glowed a bright blue before the wooden box popped open, revealing the Sword and its sheath. "Oh, honey, how I've missed you."

The echo of high heels sounded through the open room and a woman lifted her head up to see the brunette walk in. Blood coated her face along with a layer of dirt and her clothes looked as if someone had thrown them in a shredder. The daylight that peeked in through the windows exposed the dust floating around in the air of the old warehouse. The woman let out a cough.
"Come to abuse me more?" she asked, her voice hoarse. She was chained to the ceiling, her wrists bound and held above her head while her toes barely touched the floor. It briefly reminded her of her time with Lucifer back in her first year on Earth.
Memories slowly sunk into her brain, but not enough to piece everything together clearly. She still wasn't whole.
"Are you going to give in?" The redhead pursed her lips in what seemed to be mock thought before shaking her head.
"Nah."
"Then yes." Nadia pulled out her blade and dragged it across Libby's abdomen. The mentioned let out an ear piercing scream, the sound echoing throughout the warehouse. "Just give in, Libby. It'll be a lot easier." Libby attempted to catch her breath, breathing through gritted teeth.
"Where's your little bitch? I thought you only needed her." Libby spit out a mixture of blood and saliva.
"It seems that she's run off with Sam Winchester." Libby's green eyes widened and her head snapped up to look at Nadia. Who knew what she would do to him... "I heard they're getting along quite well. She hasn't even harmed the angel. It seems she's changed sides."
"How is that even possible? She's a demon," Libby growled. Nadia chuckled slightly.
"She's you, Elizabeth. There seems to be good in every part of her. Apparently there were good role models in Hell, too." A burning sensation took over Libby's wrist and she let out a choked yell, her eyes tearing up slightly as she lifted her head to see what was causing the pain. A red scar slowly burned itself onto Libby's skin. Nadia was standing a foot away from her, her gaze traveling to her daughter's wrist.
"What the f—" Both Nadia's and Libby's eyes widened at the sight of the Mark of Cain. "Oh that son of a bitch."
"What did you do?" Nadia demanded. When Libby didn't answer she reached forward and grabbed her chin, forcing her daughter to look her in the eyes. "Elizabeth, what did you do?" She let out a dark chuckle.
"God left the Mark on The Darkness, but he also gave it to Lucifer. Lucifer knew what that Mark could do so he transferred it over to me." Nadia took a step back, fear briefly glistening in her brown eyes.
"Why would he do that?"
"Why do you think?" Libby snapped, yanking slightly on her chains. "I wasn't following orders. I wasn't about to become him. So when Daddy Dearest created the Knights of Hell, I gave it to the first. If Cain were to transfer the Mark again then it would permanently take place on me. We made a deal with a bit of witchcraft and it looks like he went back on his word." Nadia's breathing sped up.
"I don't understand. You're pure."
"I'm not pure!" Libby screamed, yanking on her chains in an attempt to lunge at her mother. "You're a demon and my father is the Devil! I'm about as far from pure as it gets. When I get out of these chains I promise that I will kill you, angel or not." Nadia shook her head slowly, a smirk suddenly breaking out on her face. Libby stared at her in confusion.
"You're only part archangel because Lucifer was pure when you were conceived. Oh, Elizabeth, how stupid you are. You can fight the darkness inside you all you want but you'll never get rid of it. Not with that Mark on your wrist and not after you remerge with Elizabeth." Libby rolled her eyes.
"What are you going on about now?"
"Elizabeth has slaughtered hundreds just in her short time with me. Imagine what happens when you get that part of you back. Imagine the darkness that would take over. The balance in you has been broken. The moment you merge—"
"You liar!" she hissed through gritted teeth, desperately struggling to get to Nadia to land a blow of some kind. Nadia only took two steps back, out of her reach. "You may doubt me but trust me when I tell you that I will never turn out like you or Lucifer. Never. Do you understand me?" Nadia chuckled lowly.
"Oh, just give it time, Libby." With that, Heaven's Demon walked out of the room, the steel door slamming shut behind her. Libby tried yanking on her chains again, letting out a scream of frustration and kicking the air. She huffed, her chest heaving up and down.
"I'm gonna kill you, Nadia," she whispered under her breath. "I promise you that."

Eliza threw her head back and laughed, Sam chuckling with her. She stopped, struggling to catch her breath but still grinning. "Wait. Wait. So he just—" Sam nodded and licked his lips.
"Yeah. He did." Eliza clutched her stomach and continued to laugh, letting out a sigh a moment later. Sam snickered and shook his head, glancing over at the blonde every now and then. He watched as Eliza wiped a few stray tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Man. I haven't laughed this much in a long time," she said.
"Right there with you," Sam agreed. It had been a long time since any of the Hunters could have fun. It seemed that there was always a threat. They were waiting on Apocalypse, take three, or some sort of biblical virus outbreak. After Libby showed up it seemed to only be trouble, but Sam couldn't bring himself to blame her as she had been one of the best things to ever happen to him.
"Okay, so what are we thinking this case is?" Sam cleared his throat awkwardly, focusing his gaze back on the road. Eliza looked at him with a single eyebrow raised. "This isn't a case, is it?"
"No. Uh, a friend of ours was admitted into the hospital as a John Doe. I have a couple questions for him." Eliza sighed and leaned back in her seat, nodding. "I can sense the tension between you and Cas. It's thick enough to drive someone crazy. I figured you two needed a break from each other," the Hunter defended. Eliza chuckled softly, staring down at her lap.
"And you didn't trust me enough to leave me there on my own." Sam sighed. "Yet you begged me to put a needle in your neck. I almost killed you, Sam."
"But you didn't. Almost killing me and stealing something and getting information are two different things. Cas told me how you seem to be looking for something. What is it?" Eliza scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. Sam rolled his hazel eyes. "Come on, Eliza. What are you looking for?"
"I got it, actually. It's the Sword of Elizabeth." Sam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "In the chance that we run into Nadia or Gadreel I'll need it. One hit on Gadreel with it and he's dust." Eliza turned around in her seat and reached in the back, grabbing the sheathed Sword and pulling it out slightly. "One of the most powerful weapons in the universe." She looked up, nodding her head to the side. "Next to me, of course."
"When we were first looking for the Sword, you said that it could be catastrophic in the wrong hands, yet it only works with you because of the blood binding spell. How?" Sam questioned. Eliza let out a sigh and ran her fingers along the sky blue crystal.
"Because if the crystal is destroyed then I'm rendered powerless and human, therefore killable." Sam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. Eliza sensed his confusion and continued: "Without me then the world has a pretty good chance of being destroyed or taken over by Heaven or Hell. As you know, the Sword is the source of my power. It keeps me strong. The crystal in it isn't from Earth, it's a remnant of one of God's past creations. Every Angel of Hell or Demon of Heaven has a crystal and they're all in some type of a weapon. Azrael and I have a Sword, Nadia has a dagger." Sam's eyes widened.
"Wait. So you're saying Nadia does have a weapon that could kill her?" Eliza nodded and slid the Sword back in the sheath completely.
"Yep. I've seen it. She never had it around when I was a kid, but I can say that it's because she didn't trust me. No one knew what side I would pick, but now since I'm an adult and I've experienced both sides she knew to bring it out around me," Eliza explained. Sam nodded slowly, processing everything the demon just told him.
"So all we have to do is get Nadia's dagger and break the crystal?"
"And kill her," Eliza added. "Yeah. Once the crystal is destroyed so are our powers. We're turned human and whatever vessel we took we're locked in. God knows how much we love our powers so he used it against us. What's a fate worse than death to a demon or angel?"
"Human," Sam said in realization. Eliza clicked her tongue and nodded in confirmation. "I don't understand. You've always envied the humans and how simple they are." Eliza let out a short laugh.
"Yeah, before I saw how stupid they are. All my time in Hell and learning of their sins..." She shook her head. "Let's just say I like my powers." Eliza pursed her lips in thought, thinking back to something Nadia had told Libby.
"You can't even stand straight. I can hear your heart, you know. God, it must suck not being a normal angel. There's no need to have a heartbeat or blood pumping through your veins. Only making sure that your Grace is in tact." Libby furrowed her eyebrows and cocked her head to the side in confused.
"What?" she muttered. "I don't—"
"You bleed, Libby. Angels don't bleed, their vessels do. But even in Heaven you have your body. It's pathetic. God made you this almighty weapon and you're just as weak as any other human. To call you my daughter disgusts me."
Eliza tensed when Sam placed a hand on her shoulder, shaking her slightly.
"Eliza?"
"What?"
"You kinda zoned out there. Everything alright?" She nodded mutely, staring straight ahead. Despite the powers Eliza and Libby had, they were weaker physically. They could feel pain with normal weapons unlike other angels and demons. It was almost as if they were just the next generation of the human race.
