Issue #28: Bad Romance
Komand'r stood in the hallway alone for a moment as (Y,N) faded away into smoke leaving her to wallow in her hatred. Hatred for what? Pick your poison. She hated Flag, Terra, Russia, Earth, Herself. She didn't even remember why she was here, and not in the sense she got so wrapped up in her own delusions she forgot what the mission at hand was. She didn't know why she went through with the mission after they lost communication with Belle Reeve. Then it came back to her. That fucking jerk, (Y,N). The snake in the grass. Used her for his own personal gain, the monster... wait how did he use her again? What did he get out of it?
It didn't matter. She was going to get the last laugh now. Left to her own devices she was going to get revenge on those assholes for... being her friend. Wait, that doesn't sound right. She had to have a reason to hate (Y,N)... wait, did she hate (Y,N)? Wait, yeah she does!
"That's slime ball got my hopes up to just ditch me for that ex-Titan loser! Why would he do that to me? Why would he get my hopes up and then get all over Terra like that when he clearly knew I was into him!?" She shouted to herself before she realized something and her heart sank when she remembered she wasn't innocent in this. "Shit, I hit on Dmitriev to make him jealous before he even gave Tara a second glance." She said out loud. She also noticed something about the whole night. She had been feeling cold the entire night and now it was getting to her. She was shivering. "What the fuck is that about? And why the fuck wouldn't I hit on Dmitriev? I mean, the guy knows how to make someone feel like a princess!" She said before thinking about Rose and multiple other girls who she tried to block from her head that seemed to be batting eyelashes at the new co-op Russian dictator tonight. "I mean... it doesn't feel as special when he treats every girl he meets like a princess." Unlike (Y,N). She thought the last part.
And just thinking about it reminded her how much she missed hearing him call her princess. God, she missed hearing him call her princess. Every time she heard it she could just imagine him in traditional Tamaranean royal robes taking her hand as they were about to take a walk around their new palace surrounded by pain and misery of everyone who hurt her. Not just her. Them. There was one human she could visibly see and she was right next to Starfire, but she never met the human. She knew who it was, though. It was that Elsa girl who ruined him and caused him to stop himself from making any friends... wait.
. . .
"... that night we vowed we'd never make another friend again. That we'd never allow a betrayal."
. . .
"You're a liar and a backstabber!"
"I have been brutally honest with you and Tara to a fault and I'm just a stabber in general."
. . .
"This is a service for you. Friendship promises things I can't keep. The Crimson Ghost is an indiscriminate murderer who wants to kill everything he sees. And I'm not exactly a good friend if I try to kill you for no reason!"
. . .
"you don't want to be our friend because you want to protect us from you..."
. . .
"I tried so hard to protect you from the horrors of who I truly am but you continued to push me to this."
. . .
"Don't you see that you've killed me? No matter what after tonight I am dead and you killed me. I've grown weak trying to protect you but you just had to keep pushing and pushing and pushing."
. . .
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. I'm sorry Komand'r but you fell in love with the devil and forced him to expose himself to you."
. . .
"Oh my god." She whispered out loud. She realized in her head, Elsa looked a lot like her. She pushed (Y,N) away in her efforts to bring him closer to her. All the while he was trying to save her from herself and the monster inside of him. She started to notice other things that weren't clear to her before. When she flirted with Dmitriev, he would stare with red eyes, the same eyes that he would stare at people with when his voice changed and when he would get his headaches. Many of those headaches caused by the stress of dealing with her. Tara tried to warn her earlier and she wrote it off as "his dumb little alter ego". Even with (Y,N) saying it over and over again, it never registered he was insane. She shouldn't have needed any more proof than that, considering the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing and expecting a different result. He repeatedly tried to warn her of the consequences of her actions, and she constantly tried to get him to throw himself at her by making him jealous, and expected a different result than him being reassured she was no better than Elsa. Maybe she was insane too.
She then realized five of her twenty minutes were up. It was her last chance to be a princess and she was blowing it. Instead she sat in a hallway alone with her worst thoughts. Cold. Why was it so cold?
Oh. It's because (Y,N)'s cloak wasn't warming her. She's been cold ever since she took it off.
"... Okay that's it." She said before she stormed back into the main ballroom. She walked through the sea of strangers she now had gone from socializing with to despising in a few seconds before she saw a waiter. She snapped her fingers at him. "<You. Drink. Now.>" She told him.
. . .
Your POV
I walked through the halls of the dumb building trying to get back to the main room. Eventually I got back and tried my best to find the two people I hated the most right now. Dmitriev and Blackfire. They were unnoticeable for a while and I got some stares from the elite as I pushed them out of the way still with dry blood on my suit. Eventually I found Blackfire but not living it up while she still had the chance or flirting with Dmitriev. Instead she was drinking by herself in a corner scowling at the dancing couples, her mascara running. But it wasn't real anger in her eyes. She was staring at them longingly. It was actually depressing. Like a fat nerdy highschool girl with a butterface staring at the prom king and queen.
Stop.
I have twenty minutes, fuck off.
I walked towards her but she didn't seem to notice me. She was fixated on the dance floor. Drinking away. It was only when I heard a crunch underneath me that I noticed the smashed wine glasses surrounding her. She's had at least eight drinks. I looked back up at her.
"...Does that even do anything for you?" I asked. She finally looked over at me and stopped drinking. She looked away with an embarrassed expression and fixed her hair.
"I-I don't think so." She answered.
"So is this your idea of living like a princess? Because I cannot stress enough what borrowed time you're on."
"The only thing that would make me feel like a princess isn't happening anytime soon." She said looking back the the dance floor.
"I mean it must not be that hard to find the guest of honor. I'm sure he'd die to have one dance with you, especially right before his death."
"... Would you?" She asked. I looked at her with a confused look. "Because I mean, midnight will strike at any minute and I won't have a glass slipper to go back to. And I think you owe me for what you'll do soon."
"Did you seriously read Cinderella while on earth?" I asked. It was at this moment I heard the violins play the start to a song I actually recognized. "Is that-?"
"Bad Romance?" Komi asked. Her voice perked up. And so did she. "I love this song!" She said out loud before she looked at me. "Dance with me."
"I-"
"As my last decree as your princess and ruler, I demand you dance with me." She said with a playful smile. She threw the wine glass in her hand to the side and grabbed my hand. She then dragged me down to the dance floor.

"Komi this isn't really my-"
"First idea for making my night but I think it'll do just fine." She said. She pulled me in close and I pushed her back instinctively but still held onto her hand. She then pulled herself forward and turned around so she fell back into my arms. I turned her around and she pulled my arm out while pressing against me and made us follow the direction our arms were pointing. Great, now we're tangoing! How am I being forced to tango!?
"Was it not made already by having these Russian jerkoffs treat you like royalty?" I asked. She looked at me with a surprisingly guilty look.
"(Y,N), I'm sorry." She simply stated. For the first time in awhile I felt like hitting my heart but my arms were preoccupied holding Komand'r. "I've been a bitch the last two days and not in a hot way as you'd say."
"I... I don't know what to say to that."
"Tell me I'm pretty." She said with a smirk. I'll admit to myself she was still gorgeous with the makeup running down her face. "Or that that bulge in your pants is because you're happy to see me."
"It's a knife actually. I got it from Rose."
"Let's not talk about other girls until after you've complimented me."
"Didn't Dmitriev-"
"Fuck him. Can't you see it's you I want? It's always been you."
"And you went about getting me by trying to get me jealous?"
"I know I know. I can tell now the direct approach was the way to go. But I mean, you are kinda cute when you're planning someone's murder."
"So hypothetically speaking, if I were to date you, you would purposely flirt with other men to get me to kill them?"
"And then rock your fucking world after." She said with a short laugh and I smirked at her.
"You're a bad influence."
"And we could have a bad romance." She said still with the cocky look on her face. "That would only be if we remained on earth. My ideal dream is we find a way to Tamaran for the both of us, and we take our crowns back from my idiot brother and enslave my sister again. We rule those dirtbags with an iron fist. The evil black queen of the world and her loving sadistic king who'll dismantle all who oppose them."
"Those are some pretty big steps, princess." I said. She looked at me like I was a fireworks display.
"Call me that again."
"Call you what?" I asked before dipping her down. "Princess?" She looked up at me in total awe before looking away.
"... I fucked up. And in fucking up I made some of my greatest fears come true. I lost you and..." She was choking up now. "Be honest with me. Your little character? He's not a character, is he? And he's showing up soon and he hates me as much as he hates Elsa, right?" My heart was beating even faster and I was taken aback.
What is she doing!? Stop!
"I have until midnight! Shut up!" I said out loud. I then looked at Komi again. "Does that answer your question?"
"(Y,N), I'm so sorry this is my fault." She was on the verge of tears again.
"For the love of god, woman, stop crying. I've never had someone so hellbent on turning me on repeatedly doing something that turns me off before." I said. She nodded and then went to hold back the tears.
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing herself she wasn't evil. But as long as one sinner sees me as a saint, I'll be happy. I am yours for now and forever, just as I should've been when you saved my life, master."
AHHHHHHHHHHH STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!
The room started to shake like The Ghost himself was violently shaking me.
"You want a taste of what we can be together on Tamaran? Let's clear this place out. You and me. Lead me to victory, my Mad King." She had a huge evil smile on her face until she noticed blood starting to trickle down my nose, then she seemed horrified. She stood up on her own and quickly tried to tend to my nose. "Shit, I'm sorry! Is this because of me? Did I get him to come faster!? Hold him back a little longer, please! I just want to spend a little more time with you!"
"I'm fine! I'm fine! Me and him have a deal." I told her as I plugged up my own nose. That was until someone spun me around and punched me in the face. I landed on the ground and it felt like the blood puddle formed instantaneously. I looked up to see my attacker and I had enough. I quickly grabbed Rose's knife from under my shirt and went to stab Dmitriev.
"Wait!" Komi said as she grabbed my wrist stopping me.
"I'm getting tired of your mixed messages, woman!" I shouted.
"That was for disrespecting your princess!" Dmitriev shouted from behind her as the whole room turned their attention to us. Then five or six guards grabbed me from behind and held my arms behind my back before the remaining ones pointed their guns at me. "And this is because you're the American scum that have been ruining my plans."
"Oh god dammit!" I said.
"How could you think you could have fooled me into believing Tamaran was not a planet but a country no one has heard of!?"
"I got away with it for two days!"
"My beloved Rose informed me and my men of this 'Task Force X' in your putrid country. Sending criminals to do a man's job? Pathetic. I will save you the humiliation of having your heads blown off by cowards behind computer screens for failing your mission. Instead, you will be obliterated in a public execution and shown as an example of the results when you attempt to challenge mother Russia. If you have not noticed, your 'Colonel Flag' has been captured and will be tortured by President Sidorov while my other men look for the blonde dog you are also allied with. All of you will perish. All except my beloved princess Komand'r." He said before throwing bedroom eyes at Komi. I was extremely close to blowing my spot and turning to smoke before mauling Dmitriev but my tactician mind was able to stop me. "I do not care if you are a false idol-"
"False?" Komi repeated.
"My desire for you speaks volumes. I will be the first man on earth to procreate with an alien life form-"
"I feel like that's not entirely accurate but I don't know enough about impregnating aliens to disprove that." I said before getting pistol whipped.
"And I want you by my side as Russia becomes the world's number one superpower. As a faithful and loyal concubine." He said. He didn't notice it but I saw Komi's eye twitch when he said "concubine". "But before that," He turned to address the crowd. "товарищи! Я не поверил грязным шпионам Америки!" Oh fuck off, he's speaking in Russian again. I tuned around and started looking around the room to see how many guards I would need to kill and how plausible it would be to switch in and out of smoke mode just long enough to execute them without getting decimated. I was counting them in my head before I noticed something in the corner of the room and my heart started going a thousand miles a minute. I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time. Butterflies in my stomach and excitement just from seeing something familiar. I couldn't help but to smile. I hadn't smiled so genuinely in so long. Komi noticed the look on my face and seemed confused. She then looked over where I was looking and she became disgusted with the sight. Dmitriev looked back at me as he finished his speech. "Now then, any last words, American waste?"
"If he doesn't have any, I think I have some for him..." Komi began to say.
"...Is that fucking rat waving at us!?"
