||Chapter Fifteen||

Fingers ran across the surface of the late King's sword. As The New King's eyes laid upon the edges.

Arthur's Sword. Not one scratch.

He smirked. Raising the sword up to the sky and bringing it down with a harsh blow towards its opponent, but stopped by a lower rank's defense.

The man let his sword slide below the golden sword held by Lord Edmund and swiftly brought it up to his neck only to be stopped.

Edmund held the golden sword's back to his neck blocking the blow of his opponent and smirked pushing his other hand and bringing his attacker under the threat of a dagger, about to slid right through the back of his neck.

His opponent bowed in respect, submitting to his king and Lord Edmund smiled in his victory. His subjects putting their hands together and praising the King.

"Your Majestic, your requests are ready for your command to be executed" Lord Edmund turned around putting the sword back in its scabbard.

"Well then. Shall we continue with our plans for the village before the border " The soldiers bowed moving out the hall towards their horses as the carriage for The King's Knight was prepared

"No man shall stay near those boards. Take them out their houses and put them to work at once." His messenger nodded.

"Oh and. The young women. Bring them to court...all of them" The messenger gulped bowing to the King before excusing himself out the hall.

As the men working at the very end of the village spotted hundreds of soldiers riding towards them they dropped their shovels and axes running to their homes for protection.

However. Their unfortunate lives were yet again trampled by the new king's desire.

As their families of all villagers including all men were brought through extreme measures towards the guards and kneeled for the King's Command.

"From now, and on fourth. Every man shall work for the King and the guards. The men of the village shall be led by me to build a fort and shelter for soldiers. The women and children shall be sent away. The young maids are to follow the guards back to the castle. "

The cries of all were heard by guards. They could only stare forward And grieve in sorrow in their heart. Some obeyed the king. Some revolted. Only to be brought to death by painful torture.

The same was to be done to the villagers who spoke against any commands given by the guards.

They all watched as their houses were torn apart. Their vessels. Their bread is taken to feed the soldiers. Not much food to found either way since their daily bread was taken away from the king's new army.

The women protected their children from being taken away for labor as their fathers and husbands gave their last goodbyes through their eyes to their families.

Separated. Till the fort was built. Or forever till they died of starvation and torture.

The men began building shelter for the soldiers. Treat harshly, every lash that fell upon their back was a result of injustice.

The king planned on building a base for his men. To take over the board of their kingdom which faced that dark forest.

His hate for it grew day by day. He wanted to see the trees burning under fire flames. The coal-black soil surrendering under his feet.

He wished to claim that forest.

There was no devil residing in those woods for him. He did not believe in such rumors.

All he wanted was a victory.

"Your Majestic, all the men from the further village have been put to work for building shelter for our weapons. It shall be complete within a month sire."

Edmund nodded. Staring ahead at the forest in pure rage.
One day he shall concour the Kingdom of south. And make King Dominic beg for his life.

He smiled at his thoughts.

The wind passing through the tall trees as they swayed like the ocean's water.

Rose found herself clutching the sheet over her chest as hard as possible. Her eyes stared over him. Or..his chin.

She could see his jawline, the light beard covering his skin. Her teeth pulled her lower lip into a tug and bite as he entered the chamber and walked towards the large bed laying her.

Ever so slowly.

"Why?" She found her courage. Bringing her voice up to speak. Unfortunately. It was merely a whisper. But her eyes stayed over his chest. Which happens to block the mantel behind him entirely.

He never spoke. He never looked.

He simply turned away to leave her alone. Rose was disappointed, desperate for answers. Desperate for something beyond her own understanding. Sitting up and letting her legs fall off the bed to stand up.

Immediately falling after taking another step. Her legs had given in.

She fell to her knees, her hands grabbing the table beside her in the process of making a glass full of a waterfall off the edge.

He turned back hearing the sound and walked back to her.

She found herself gasping for breath every time his body came as close. His hand held her waist pulling her towards him and helping her stand up.

Immediately setting her on the bed behind. She frowned looking at him.

"Please. Where am I ?" She paused her eyes falling to her lap " Who...Why did you-" the sudden door slamming made her jump in fright.
And he was gone.

She felt tears pool around her eyes.

As the girl's sorrow rose from her eyes to her heart,  he found himself in the hallway, leaning over his hand on the wall breathing. His eyes closing shut while he took a deep breath.

The sheer amount of anger that filled his body as she fell was beyond his emotions.

He clenched his jaw punching the wall.

There was a need in him to save her.

Save!? Save a human girl? His hands covered his face as he turned his back against the wall. Sliding down in rage in disbelief.

He was a killer. He killed. He was a devil. His sole purpose of living was to kill humans. Make them pay for their sins.

Make them pay for breaking the treaty and stepping on his land.

He couldn't understand how they could command him to save a girl. She was no one. She was nobody.

She was an enemy.

He looked ahead. His eyes filled with rage and sorrow.

But her face flashing against his eyes made him run his hand into the wall causing a picture to fall down breaking.

He stared at it.

His legs walking over the faces of the painting as he made his way out of the dreadful castle.
