Ch:90(Assassins)
ShuîYuê looked at him, shocked; this man was blind, that was very clear, so of course, he depended on his other senses more, but what shocked her was he could tell where she was even sitting, "It's a reserved female, and she's looking at me right now."
"What the hell?" Yìfēi gasped, surprised. She understood that he was blind after that gold and silver bracelet thing, but how could this man tell without his eyes that YueYue was looking at him? She wondered, "Uncle, what else can you tell?" She asked curiously.
"She was the last one to enter the room; she walks slowly; she's a wallflower too, not interested in dressing up either," he replied.
Yìfēi stared at him wide-eyed, "Uncle, you are a genius; please tell me how you deducted her character so easily and precisely," she asked hopefully.
"It's very simple, her feet were light almost inaudible when she entered the room, she was also the last one to enter indicating that she doesn't like being the centre of attention, and she doesn't like noise too since she walks so silently and doesn't wear a lot of jewellery either, probably likes cooler colours as well, immediately went to sit by the window which has an only seat telling she's introverted in nature, she likes quietness and peace the most, I got the scent of lavenders and parchment paper from her she likes to read a lot too," he said shocking more than half the people in the room which included Yìfēi, MíngLóng, Zìxìn and ShuîYuê herself.
"My goodness, uncle, you are a genius!" Yìfēi squealed.
He laughed, waving his hand, "It's not much," he denied humbly.
"No, but it is; I have known her for eight years, and it took me a long time to understand her personality, whereas you did it in a minute," Yìfēi praised generously, complimenting him.
"It's easy, nothing difficult," he denied, shaking his head.
"Mr," ShuîYuê began, "How could you tell all this so easily? Will you please explain?" She asked politely.
"Hmm... hungry for knowledge, huh?" he observed smiling, "I'll teach you, let's take Miss Yú for example, she walks in a carefree manner stepping wherever she pleases, she's light on the feet which indicates she can change her direction swiftly if required indicating someone who likes many options, she also entered the room right behind MíngLóng she would have entered first if she wasn't visiting a strangers house showing excitement to meet new people."
"Miss Yú smelled of warm flowery perfume meaning someone with a warm and lovely personality, she also wears a lot of jewellery which jingles indicating someone who likes dressing up and enjoys it, she sat in the centre of the divan indicating she likes being the centre of attention and her friendly enthusiasm shows she's extroverted," he concluded simply.
ShuîYuê analysed every single word her eyes twinkling with interest, Yìfēi could tell she was interested in learning this too because anything which kept her mind thinking and fed her hunger for knowledge was always welcome, she got bored easily so she always kept learning new things which were completely unrelated to each other also did Yìfēi mention she's very intelligent as well, she was in the top ten scholars of Heavens.
"Uncle, please don't take her as your disciple or else she'll master the art of avoiding people," Yìfēi requested desperately as ShuîYuê glared at her.
"It isn't anything I can teach either; I also learned it slowly when I lost my eyesight," he admitted, laughing.
"Sir, we have prepared dinner," a servant informed, bowing his head.
"Let's eat first and we'll chat while we eat together," he announced getting up, Zìxìn held his arm guiding him, "MíngLóng, I grew carrots for your favourite vegetable soup and XiǎoÀi I grew many fruits for you don't forget to take them back with you," he added as he walked out the room with Zìxìn and MíngLóng supporting him, XiǎoÀi walked next to him holding his hand as YànQīng and Yìfēi followed after them, ShuîYuê was leaving the room too when Chéng Jídù stopped her.
"Don't you have manners?" She asked, narrowing her eyes; ShuîYuê looked at her confused, "The Queen leaves first, then everyone follows," she spat arrogantly.
ShuîYuê stared at her in disbelief, 'Where did this sudden authority go when everyone walked out the room first did she only remember it now?' ShuîYuê thought, shaking her head as she stepped back; Ghost Queen smirked as she took a few steps forward.
"Wait there, I need to speak with you," Ghost King called, looking at Chéng Jídù. His gaze was intimidating and steely; Ghost Queen turned around as ShuîYuê waited.
"It's a private matter between me and my husband so you can leave," she told ShuîYuê sharply.
"Oh, thank you for your permission. Otherwise, I was going to stand here all night obediently following your orders," ShuîYuê countered sarcastically before exiting the room, leaving a fuming Ghost Queen behind.
She glared at ShuîYuê, cursing her mentally, "Don't overstep your boundaries, Jídù, especially here," Ghost King warned. She stood there stubbornly looking at him; he glared back before she left the room, snorting.
ShuîYuê sat beside Yìfēi at the big round table, which was covered in various dishes; they were waiting for Ghost King to come as well when the Queen entered, followed by him; they sat down as everyone began eating, "Eat as much as you like," uncle gestured the servants to bring more dishes.
"Uncle, this is a whole table for a banquet. How will we finish so much food?" MíngLóng asked her mouth-watering.
"MíngLóng teamwork beats anything, especially when it comes to food," Yìfēi assured smartly; Zìxìn shook his head, 'Foodie,' he thought, smiling.
"You are all young growing kids; you should eat more so you'll grow taller and stronger," Uncle uttered as he felt around for Huá's bowl, filling it with rice; some of it fell too.
"Uncle, you sound exactly like YueYue," Yìfēi stuffed her face with dumplings.
"Don't talk while eating," ShuîYuê scolded naturally.
"Uncle scolds us too for speaking while eating," MíngLóng laughed.
"See, I told you, you saw it with your own eyes back at her palace, but I'll tell Uncle." Yìfēi spoke taking braised bamboo shoots, "Uncle you know when we eat at her Palace, she's always scolding me and Jīnyú for talking while eating and she always lectures us about eating more and all that old people stuff," ShuîYuê nudged Yìfēi under the table, who turned around to look at her, "What's wrong?" She asked loudly.
ShuîYuê screamed mentally, 'Why does Yìfēi always have to embarrass me?' She thought before smiling at her, too sweetly in Yìfēi's opinion, "Eat first," ShuîYuê said as she filled a plate with various dishes of Yìfēi's liking, but she added stinky fermented soybeans, which Yìfēi hated as well, she handed her the plate smiling as Yìfēi took it scared to her bones.
"Yes, eat first. I have grown all these vegetables and fruits myself. They are more nutritious than what you buy from outside," Uncle urged, filling a bowl of spicy noodles for Zìxìn, which was his favourite.
"Uncle, we'll eat properly. Don't worry yourself," Huá assured gently.
"It's not every day I get to eat with my lovely kids, so let this old man enjoy this to the fullest," he smiled as he gave more buns to MíngLóng who stuffed her mouth happily.
"Uncle, how have you been?" Zìxìn asked after putting his bowl down.
"I have been great. What about you? Didn't you guys go for a peace treaty? I heard it went well."
"Yeah, it went alright," Zìxìn uttered, uninterested. Anything related to Heavens was uninteresting to him except for Jun Wu and the Crown Prince.
"I heard Crown Prince was crowned as well; he's a good King for sure, far better than Jun Wu was," Uncle sighed. A plate broke suddenly as Chéng Jídù's hand trembled, "Did someone get hurt?" Uncle asked, worried.
"No Uncle," Zìxìn said loudly, "Unfortunately not," he added quietly, which was heard by both Yìfēi and ShuîYuê.
"Servant clean this up," Uncle ordered looking around, a servant cleaned the broken pieces, and the Queen looked like she was in shock Ghost King handed her a cup of water, she looked at him before drinking it hurriedly, ShuîYuê narrowed her eyes, "Let's continue to eat, right where was I?"
"Jun Wu," Zìxìn enunciated, "Uncle was talking about how the Crown Prince is a better King than Jun Wu," he emphasised deliberately, Ghost King gave him a warning look as Ghost Queen gripped the cup in her hand tightly.
'What's this?' ShuîYuê thought observing them.
"Right, the Crown Prince is a much better King than his father; he's hardworking and kind; Heaven is in good hands," Uncle spoke, patting Zìxìn's shoulders to remind him what they were talking about.
"I won't eat this," XiǎoÀi whined stubbornly as Huá tried to feed her vegetables.
"You should eat vegetables if you want to be tall," Uncle tried to convince. She shook her head as she grabbed broad beans and dipped them in chilly sauce before shoving them in her mouth.
"She eats like Jīnyú!" Yìfēi gasped, surprised; ShuîYuê nodded her head, her mind analysing their behaviour.
"Who's this Jīnyú?" Uncle asked curiously.
"Jīnyú is a Water Master's student," MíngLóng answered.
"Elemental Masters huh? One of them is already training their disciple."
"Uncle, you have two of the elemental masters sitting at your table," MíngLóng informed excitedly.
"Oh, do we?" Uncle asked, surprised.
"Yes, JîeJîe is Wind Master, and Miss Bài is Water Master," MíngLóng explained, but their uncle didn't understand it.
"The flamboyant one is Wind Master and that wallflower is Water Master," Zìxìn chimed in playfully.
"Ahh, I see, so this is what MíngLóng meant when she said special guests," He smiled, finally understanding.
"Yes, Uncle," MíngLóng nodded.
"Wind Master do you not have students? Like Water Master does?" Uncle asked.
"I can't concentrate for a long amount of time, and besides, I don't have YueYue's level of patience when it comes to Jīnyú, so no, I don't have any students," Yìfēi replied, shaking her head.
"Who'll ever want to learn from you?" Zìxìn asked, poking fun at Yìfēi, who gave him a stinky eye.
"Water Master is young and is teaching already?" Uncle asked ShuîYuê, who was lost in thought; Yìfēi nudged her when she looked around the table, confused.
"He's asking why you are teaching at such a young age," Yìfēi supplied helpfully.
ShuîYuê was thankful for her help, "It's nothing much, just some things I teach him when I have time," she said airily.
"Don't lie, Witch, you train that poor boy from morning to night, what a cruel teacher," Zìxìn scoffed.
"My YueYue is the best teacher anyone could ask for," Yìfēi chimed in defensively.
"Care to explain how a cruel teacher like her who makes that skinny boy stand all day in ice cold water is anywhere close to kindness?" Zìxìn asked cocking his head.
"That's because Jīnyú needs to be in the water for his powers to work," Yìfēi responded.
"Fine, What about the times he has practiced late at night?" He asked calmly.
"That's Jīnyú's stubbornness," Yìfēi muttered annoyed.
"What ab-"
"That's enough," ShuîYuê interjected firmly, looking at Yìfēi, who closed her mouth.
"Why? Don't want others to know your cruel methods?" Zìxìn asked sassily.
"Nor my disciple neither his father have any problem with my training methods," Water Master replied swiftly.
"Of course, what else to expect from that cruel Jun Wu," Zìxìn said rolling his eyes.
"Jun Wu? Jīnyú is Emperor's son?" Uncle asked, surprised; as the Queen got up leaving the room, Ghost King went after her silently.
"Yes, but he's the opposite of his bossy father," Zìxìn answered nodding his head.
"Don't speak in that rude manner," Uncle scolded Zìxìn, who rolled his eyes, "I apologise for Zìxìn's rude way of talking about the Emperor," Uncle apologised, bowing his head.
"Uncle there is no need," Yìfēi assured hurriedly, waving her hand.
"Please do not embarrass us, sir; we are here to celebrate your birthday," ShuîYuê reassured, bowing her head.
"It's still rude of him to speak of the Emperor in front of you," Uncle remarked guiltily.
"Then that's his fault, not yours," Yìfēi voiced softly.
"Yes, how about punishing him instead? That would suffice for our magnificent Emperor's insult," ShuîYuê suggested cheekily.
"Whatever elemental masters decide," Uncle agreed.
"General doesn't like eating sweet things how about he eats ten servings of honey dollops?" ShuîYuê suggested smiling wickedly.
"That's easy; Zìxìn will take the punishment," Uncle ordered; Zìxìn was busy glaring daggers at Water Master, who smiled at him.
'This Witch leaves no chance to torture me,' he thought as he stuffed honey in his mouth, cursing ShuîYuê.
"Honey makes the person speak sweetly," Yìfēi stated smiling.
"Your best friend should drown in honey then," Zìxìn spat from beside Yìfēi.
"See, that's why you shouldn't mess with YueYue, she's scary," Yìfēi advised looking at Zìxìn.
"Ohh, don't be so innocent; I saw you stuffing those fermented soybeans behind your bowl," Zìxìn whispered to Yìfēi.
"Zìxìn my friend, I'll help you hide this honey somewhere, but please keep your mouth shut," Yìfēi pleaded; Zìxìn thought about it for a second before nodding his head, "Deal?" Yìfēi asked.
"Deal," he nodded firmly.
"Serve more," Uncle ordered.
"I ask politely if I can leave the room," ShuîYuê requested bowing her head.
"Sure, but are you full ?" Uncle asked worried.
"Don't worry, I ate well," she answered standing up, Zìxìn held his breath waiting for ShuîYuê to leave the room, The second she was out he slid the honey bowl and Yìfēi's soybeans behind a table swiftly Yìfēi kept watch, they gave each other a high five secretly before joining in the conversations.
ShuîYuê walked out of the room liking the fresh breeze caressing her face, she walked for a long time until she came across the Ghost Queen who was crouching on the floor panting for breath, sweating in this cold weather, she was clutching her chest as Ghost King was rubbing her back saying, "Breathe slowly," to her.
'Is she having a panic attack?' ShuîYuê thought worried, She rushed to her side, "Do you need water?" She asked softly, patting her shoulder. Ghost Queen pushed her hand away as her breathing increased. ShuîYuê looked at her worried, "Slowly, breathe slowly," she added gently.
Jídù clutched Huá's collar roughly; he rubbed her back, nodding his head as if saying he understood what she was trying to say, "Water Master, please leave," he requested.
"I'll call a doctor," ShuîYuê remarked worried as Jídù's breathing kept increasing.
"No, you won't say a word of this to anyone," he spoke firmly.
"I won't, but she needs help right now," ShuîYuê said hurriedly.
"She's going to be fine, just leave us alone," he gritted his teeth.
"But sh-"
"LEAVE!" he shouted. ShuîYuê flinched back, staring at him in shock. Ghost Queen pushed ShuîYuê's hand away from her shoulder, and ShuîYuê blinked her eyes before getting up and walking away. Ghost King stared at her as she disappeared, "It's okay, She's gone," he assured gently, Jídù's breathing started to calm slowly.
ShuîYuê ran until she could only hear her breath; she stopped as she leaned on the balcony, breathing deeply, 'I was only trying to help, but he shouted at me?' She thought feeling hurt, 'No one has ever shouted at me this way,' she thought shaking her head, "Right she's his wife, of course, he'll care for her reputation," she murmured looking away as bitterness seeped through her, she stood there for a long time until she heard a scream, she turned her head around worried she ran as screams echoed throughout the mansion, 'What's happening?' She thought scared.
ShuîYuê stopped in front of the dining room its gates were broken in pieces, she entered carefully looking around, the leftover food on the table was all across the room, broken cutlery strewn on the floor, and the table was slashed into two pieces, and there was blood covering the walls, she felt dread engulfing her as she tiptoed across the room, entering another room which was in similar condition until she saw the back of a man in front of her holding something by the neck as their little body moved, Zìxìn was standing far away from the man worried and scared.
His eyes met Water Master's, and she understood what was happening; there were assassins all around the house, and one of them was holding XiǎoÀi captive, who was right in front of her; Zìxìn was helpless.
He couldn't kill this man's pieces even if he wanted to. ShuîYuê narrowed her eyes summoning up her sword as she walked behind the man silently like a snake without a single sound, she held up her sword right below his neck, "Let her go," she whispered in the man's ear, who's eyes were wide open, Zìxìn had kept him occupied by talking, offering all gold and whatnot in return for XiǎoÀi.
The man froze as he was defenceless, one of his hands held a knife to the little girl's neck while the other one was holding up the girl, ShuîYuê snapped the knife into pieces using hydraulic pressure, and she hit his head by the hilt of her sword, as she grabbed XiǎoÀi in one hand while the man pulled out a long sword attacking her, she fought him while holding XiǎoÀi as Zìxìn rushed in to help, he smashed the man's head in pieces as blood covered him completely.
Water Master closed the little girl's eyes, telling her not to open them at all. She nodded her head stiffly, "Witch, MíngLóng and the others are inside; I'll go and help Huá; he's alone." Zìxìn said as ShuîYuê nodded her head assuringly.
She went inside the room which had the bodies of many assassins and servants lying on the floor, she hid XiǎoÀi's face in her chest, and she came across a gruesome scene, an assassin laid on the floor cut in half, his intestines sprawled around his half cut body, metallic odour of blood engulfed the room, it took no genius to guess it was Zìxìn's work, she kept walking until she saw Yìfēi and YànQīng fighting against hundreds of other assassins, MíngLóng was badly injured as she fought a man trying to kill Uncle.
ShuîYuê killed many assassins as they attacked her until she reached MíngLóng, she handed XiǎoÀi to her uncle telling her to not open her eyes at all, the girl hid her face in her uncle's chest as he fought three men at the same time, she ushered them to a safe place casting a moon shield on them before returning, anger consuming her eyes, she killed whoever came near her as one of them managed to slice Yìfēi's arm she hissed in pain.
ShuîYuê's eyes darkened no one hurt her best friend and got away with it, she pierced her sword into that man's body twisting it around as he screamed in pain, Yìfēi smiled at her as both of them fought side by side, YànQīng threw ninja stars efficiently at them from far away while fighting with a knife in the other hand.
Ghost King killed all those thousand assassins easily as Zìxìn reached him,
"Huá, there's too many of them," he panted, slicing them in two as they attacked.
"They aren't humans; they are made from enchantment spells, There are too many of them attacking," Ghost King explained as he killed them with a sword; his scimitar was far away from killing other assassins.
"MíngLóng got injured badly trying to save Yìfēi." he panted as he and Ghost King fought them, "And there was one who got his hands on XiǎoÀi," Ghost King stared at Zìxìn, who killed the man behind Huá, "Don't worry, Witch saved her in time," he added; Ghost King gritted his teeth, slaughtering.
"They keep coming," Yìfēi huffed tired.
"They are made of some spell," YànQīng supplied worried.
"ShuîYuê, it's too many; I can't catch a breath," Yìfēi complained.
"Cover me," Water Master said suddenly as Yìfēi and YànQīng protected her from the front and back swiftly; she closed her eyes as a glowing silver sphere appeared; it covered the entire room before she opened her eyes, releasing it; the entire mansion felt a wave around it.
Ghost King looked around, worried at the sudden wave, "It's Witch; her moon shield is wicked," Zìxìn explained, killing assassins with two axes in each of his hands.
"Let's move through this and gather everyone; we can't kill them. They keep appearing; we'll have to burn this entire place down to close the portal they are coming from," ShuîYuê breathed as she walked inside a silver sphere which was as large as the room.
Yìfēi and YànQīng followed after her the assassins were attacked back by the moon shield, and the three of them ran to MíngLóng who was still fighting, YànQīng pulled her into the sphere as ShuîYuê went and got Uncle and XiǎoÀi who had her eyes shut tightly, ShuîYuê took her from his arms as Yìfēi helped Uncle walk he had a large gash in his leg.
YànQīng carried MíngLóng on her back; they moved out of the mansion towards a large number of assassins who looked like a hive of bees, and even worse, Zìxìn and Huá were inside that, fighting infinite amounts of assassins.
ShuîYuê fastened up her pace as some of the assassins came to attack them instead, they were all killed back with ten times more power as they attacked, Huá's eye met ShuîYuê's who was covered in blood not her own, but he couldn't tell if it was her or not, her robes were torn in various places as she narrowly missed the many swords which were trying to kill her, she held her sword in one hand while the other held his daughter he felt relief run through his body seeing both of them safe.
Yìfēi screamed at them to enter the sphere, which Zìxìn followed immediately, "Ghost King, hurry up! We have already set up a fire to this mansion," Yìfēi shouted, he ran back inside and came out with the Queen in his arms.
Zìxìn went out to help him back as the group ran out of the mansion, and they turned back as MíngLóng snapped her fingers the entire mansion burst into flames, wooden pieces blasting through the sky falling on the moon shield, which glowed even brighter with every hit it took, everyone was out of breath and holding onto someone who was injured badly, in Huá's case his unconscious wife while ShuîYuê held XiǎoÀi in her arms, they heard murderous screams of the assassins as they were burnt alive, ShuîYuê covered XiǎoÀi's ears.
"Let's go back," Zìxìn said something sensible for the first time.

A/N: The uncle describing others is also something I made up based on my idea of things. I'm not sure if any of the things he described were right. Just did it for fun. Also, I have never been annoyed with Ghost King, but this time, he irked me so badly.
Thanks for reading, take care of yourself!! Drink some soup today. It's cold, and I told you to do so!
