Ch: 44 (General Yông's consolation)

Wudu Palace

ShuîYuê was angry, hurt, and unable to save Jīnyú as they took him away. She sat by the Xia River as she stared at the water. She was finally alone as tears welled up her vision.

'They took him away, they took my Jīnyú away, he- he can't even sleep without his blanket, how will he stay in Cold palace? He doesn't even eat a lot of things; he'll be left starving; they can't do this to him; they can't do this to my Jīnyú,' ShuîYuê shook her head, denying reality.

The Crown Prince had already sent his people to take care of Jīnyú as he was being kept at the cold palace; he wanted to plead with his father, who refused to meet anyone; he paced around the palace; Earth Master had been looking for him, "Crown Prince," she called softly.

"Earth Master not now," he uttered, distracted.

"Don't worry about Prince Jīnyú he'll be fine," she assured.

"He'll be fine? Earth Master, I don't know if you realise this or not, but they are going to emasculate my brother, and I can't do anything other than hear him scream in pain," GuānYû sighed.

"Of course, he'll be fine," she voiced confidently.

"How will he be fine? Tell me," he asked, losing his temper and pushing Earth Master to the wall.

"He is Water Master's student," she answered calmly.

"Water Master can't save him even as his teacher she can't take this punishment for him," he growled, glaring at her.

"She's his teacher. You think she is going to sit and let them do whatever they want to the Prince?" she questioned softly.

GuānYû's eyes widened in realisation, "You mean she won't let him have the punishment?" he asked slowly.

"I don't know what she will do or not, but I am sure about one thing: she won't let them hurt Prince Jīnyú," Shù Zìrán implied, staring into his obsidian orbs.

GuānYû smiled, 'Of course, she won't sit by and watch,' he thought relieved.

"But how will she do it? There's only so much she can do. She can't fight against father's orders; she can't help Jīnyú escape; how will she do it?" he inquired, worried once again.

"Once again, I don't know, but if she'll need your help, she'll tell you," Shù Zìrán responded, walking away.

Yìfēi stared at ShuîYuê who was busy with work she knew that ShuîYuê was hurt the most by this, she had after all raised Jīnyú as a little child even if she wasn't much older than him she still had taken care of the boy for the last four years and now right in front of her eyes they had dragged him away to be punished how could someone not be bothered by this?

The truthful answer was, of course, that she was bothered. She had been awfully quiet for the last few days, and Yìfēi was more worried about the life of that old official than anyone else.

"YueYue, you still haven't told me anything about how we are going to save Jīnyú," Yìfēi said gently.

"We aren't saving Jīnyú," ShuîYuê replied simply.

"What do you mean?" Yìfēi asked, confused.

"Exactly what I said, we aren't saving Jīnyú," she answered, writing something.

"So we are going to sit by and watch him suffer?" Yìfēi asked, irritated.

"Did we ask him to dance? We didn't. He did that himself, he's old enough to face the consequences of his actions," ShuîYuê commented coldly.

"So you don't care for him anymore?" Yìfēi asked in disbelief.

"Why should I care for those who don't care for their own life," ShuîYuê voiced simply.

"ShuîYuê tell me you are joking," Yìfēi demanded desperately.

"I am not," she remarked with a serious face, Yìfēi left the room angry.

'I am sorry, Yìfēi, you are the last person I would lie to, but I need to do this to save Jīnyú,' ShuîYuê thought to herself.

Yông Zìxìn was casually strolling when he saw an angry, no very angry Wind Master walking to Jun Wu's study, she came out twenty minutes later looking even angrier, 'Now is the time,' Zìxìn thought mischievously.

"Oh, Wind Master, what a pleasant surprise to see you here," Yông Zìxìn greeted, acting all surprised.

Yìfēi didn't reply to him and continued to walk ahead, he followed after her
"Where's your friend, that little Water Master?" he asked, genuinely confused.

"I don't know," she muttered, fastening her pace.

"But aren't you two best friends? Shouldn't you know everything about her?" he asked, acting innocent.

"I don't know," she took a turn.

"Did you two fight?" Yông Zìxìn inquired, pestering her.

"Mind your own business!" she shouted at him.

He was about to shout back at her when he noticed her eyes were wet, 'Is she crying?' he thought to himself.

"Wind Master," he called, slowly grabbing her arm.

"Let me go!" she snapped, prying his hand away.

"What's wrong?" he asked, genuinely confused.

"Why would you care?" she bit her lips.

The General stared at her as tears flowed through her eyes, "Why would I not?" he questioned wondering why he was even asking her this.

"Shut up, it's all your fault; since that battle at the South Gates, you have made our lives hell!" she fumed.

"I did what I had to do," he remarked sternly, "And it's not my fault that you can't sort out your problems with your friend," he added, grabbing her shoulders firmly.

Yìfēi cried. She had never cried in front of anyone other than ShuîYuê, but she cried today because she couldn't control it. If something hurt her the most, it was ShuîYuê pushing her away, she broke down in that general's arms and was taken aback by this overly outspoken and outgoing Wind Master crying in his arms.

Yông Zìxìn blinked not understanding what was going on, he never cared if someone was happy or not he never gave a damn if they hated him, he was already the most feared man in Hell, Why would he care for such stupid things when he got what he wanted? but he didn't want to see this stupid Wind Master crying, he wanted to argue with her or even fight her but not see her cry like this.

He had no idea how to comfort someone when they cried maybe because he never had anyone to comfort him nor did anyone dare to come to him for such things as comfort, he only once saw MíngLóng crying because a boy stole her last bread so Zìxìn had killed the boy he had brought back the bread for MíngLóng but he didn't know what to do when she continued to cry. He thought that she wanted the bread, so he got it. Why she didn't stop crying was beyond him.

He wasn't good with words to comfort someone. Huá was, he wasn't someone who could console with a hug; Huá was his best friend was the one who took care of MíngLóng and YànQīng whenever they were upset. Zìxìn for beating the shit out of assholes and Huá was for using his sharp intellectual mind.

Huá was what perfect meant to Zìxìn, his brother was the most clever and calm man, Zìxìn would get into brawls all the time and MíngLóng would come running to Huá and inform him that Zìxìn had got into another fight, Huá would either defuse the situation or if matters got worse he would gladly join Zìxìn in the fight, Huá had kept Zìxìn from countless meaningless brawls.

General Yông was quick to lose his temper, and Ghost King rarely lost his; Zìxìn was impulsive and muscle-headed and never thought once before getting into any situation. Huá always analysed before reacting.

General of Ghost Army was a manwhore who slept around daily and Ghost King was rarely ever caught with anyone, polar opposite but the trust they had in each other was unbreakable.

Zìxìn admired Huá a lot, for a lot of things, Huá was very smart, calm, and rational, someone who knew how to act accordingly in different situations, his best friend was so knowledgeable Zìxìn could bet on all of Jun Wu's Court of idiot officials that no one could beat his brother in intellect.

His scimitar was an active spiritual weapon, something Zìxìn had wanted since Huá had his scimitar. To him, his best friend is perfect, from dancing to poems and playing instruments to having conversations on any literature at great lengths. Chéng Huá, in Zìxìn's eyes, is perfect, and no one could ever change it.

Huá was the smart one who knew what to do all the time, but Zìxìn was not, He didn't know what to do, so he just patted Yìfēi's head as she cried on his shoulders, "It's YueYue," she managed to say in between breaths.

"What did she do?" he asked, confused, She pulled away from him.

"She says she doesn't care about what happens to Jīnyú anymore," she responded upset.

"Well she's your friend you know her better than me," he wiped her tears as Yìfēi looked at him with glassy eyes, "And from what I have judged about that little Water Master she is clever, always has something up her sleeve," he said pointing to his chest, a bright red mark still there from the trident.

"What do you mean?" Yìfēi asked shakily.

"That Witch killed me nearly, so of course I know her tendencies the best and trust me, she won't back down in the slightest if it comes to protecting the people she cared for," Yông Zìxìn answered honestly.

Yìfēi stared at him. He had managed to judge ShuîYuê more correctly than she had managed in the last eight years of their friendship, 'Of course she won't let anything happen to Jīnyú; she would never let anything happen to him or me,' she thought to herself.

She looked down, ashamed of thinking that ShuîYuê really wouldn't do something. Just because she refused to tell Yìfēi her plan didn't mean she wouldn't help Jīnyú or she had stopped caring for him.

"Don't be ashamed it's normal to be hurt more by those who you are close to," Yông Zìxìn tried to comfort, noticing her downcast face.

"I- I am not ashamed, and of course, I knew YueYue would help Jīnyú I was just upset at something else," she stuttered, trying to cover up.

Yông Zìxìn shook his head amused, "Sure, whatever makes you happy," he said, walking away.

"What do you mean? I know my best friend better than you, you Jerk!" she shouted following him.
