Ch: 17 (The awaited Crowning Day)
Paradise Manor, The day of the ghost festival
Yông Zìxìn sat in the main hall with Xià MíngLóng and Bāo YànQīng, they were waiting for the orders. An attendant came running, "The ceremony would start in four hours." she informed me before leaving.
"Finally, it's our day." General Yông Zìxìn cheered, determined for victory.
"Zìxìn, don't overdo it." advised the same calm yet deep voice of the person who entered the main hall. Everyone stood up, and as he passed by them, a silver scimitar hung to his waist, which was tall and slender, just like the person owning it.
"I have been reminded plenty of times already now." Yông Zìxìn grumbled, irritated.
"Well, you need to be reminded again and again because when you fight, you don't hold back." Bāo YànQīng stated simply.
"Now, don't be too smart YànQīng." Yông Zìxìn's commented in a firm tone.
"MíngLóng and YànQīng, you two will attack only when necessary," told the red-clad person, "And Zìxìn keep the girls safe," he added.
"Yes, Your Highness." Yông Zìxìn bowed to him before leaving for Heaven.
The Palace of Wudu
Bài ShuîYuê stared at herself in the mirror, she looked beautiful that was all she could say, she never felt beautiful but she did look beautiful today, the robes designed by Yìfēi fit her like a lock in a key, the hanfu were purple and black with gold accents on the black outer robe, the waistband hugged her tightly showing her curves which she always hid behind large black robes, the clothes were threaded with silver and gold threads with beautiful embroidery covering them, she wore a beautiful headpiece which had a thin silver chain encasing her hair which was tied in a fancy ponytail by Souxin who was more than happy to dress up her boring Master, she also wore light jewellery with pearls and amethyst gemstones hanging from them, she felt tired already, she wondered how Xiàn Fèng wore so much every single day with a smile on his face whereas she already felt irritated she would have to wear these clothes all day long. She sighed, staring at her face once again, which didn't look intimidating at all. She looked cute, on the other hand. Shaking her head, she tried to glare at the mirror; there it was, the cold expression on her face. She smiled victoriously.
"Trying to look intimidating, are we?" Souxin asked coyly.
"Shut up, you minx, you didn't have to dress me up so much." ShuîYuê accused glaring daggers at Souxin.
"Why not? You look so beautiful," she asked mischievously
"I am getting late," ShuîYuê said, walking out Rong Pei stood there with Jade, "Aunt Rong Pei," ShuîYuê greeted.
"Miss Bài, I won't be able to come with you, so I am sending these two girls along instead." Rong Pei spoke softly.
"How will these two silly girls know when I am in trouble?" she asked.
"Don't worry, Miss Bài, you'll be fine. I got this from the temple at the mountain it'll keep off evil." Rong Pei replied as she hung a pouch to ShuîYuê's waistband. She patted her clothes. Seeing the little girl grow up so much made even the most strict women emotional, but she didn't let anyone see it.
"I'll be back soon," ShuîYuê spoke, not wanting to leave her palace.
"I'll prepare cream puffs for you." Rong Pei told, with that Water Master walked away with the two maids behind her.
Martial Hall of Emperor Jun Wu
Not many people were here right now, but it would be filled in soon. The elementals were supposed to show up early, and Water Master was not the last to arrive for once. She was greeted by Xiàn Fèng as soon as she entered, who looked more handsome than usual; he wore bright orange robes with green accents adorned with heavy jewellery from top to bottom, which added more glow to his bright personality. "Water Master it's so good to see you." he greeted happily.
"It's nice to see you too," she replied genuinely, ( Yìfēi's threat replaying in her brain)
"Thank you, for the corn babas you sent, they were delicious." he beamed
"Please don't thank me."
Their conversation was cut short by the arrival of Earth Master, who was dressed expensively as well in robes of moss green and off-white, green flower jewellery adorning her sharp features. "Earth Master good to see you." Xiàn Fèng greeted.
"Good morning," she replied, ShuîYuê and her held eye contact for a moment, which was broken with the arrival of Wind Master.
"Ohh, good morning; everyone's here already; hurry up. His Majesty is waiting for us." she ushered them inside. She wore beautiful cyan blue and scarlet robes with shining jewellery.
The side hall of Emperor Jun Wu
Jun Wu walked around comfortably and quite relaxed for someone whose son was to be crowned on a not-so-safe day. The elementals bowed to him, "Are you all prepared?" Jun Wu asked his hands behind his back.
"Yes, your Majesty," they replied in unison
"Good, perform the opening ceremony and then leave for the gates straight away," he ordered. They all nodded their heads; Someone was hiding behind the door nervously, "Jīnyú!" the Emperor called, irritated.
'Oh no.' the Prince thought to himself
"Come out." Jun Wu ordered, his tone cold. So he came out from behind the door, looking guilty. He wore white robes dressed for the ceremony, "Why were you eavesdropping? Don't you have manners?" Jun Wu questioned sharply.
The Prince trembled, people didn't know how scary his father was, "Father, I only wanted to wish the elemental masters good luck." he murmured
"Your good luck isn't required. If things happened due to good luck, half the things in this world would be done just by wishing." Jun Wu scolded, condemning the young prince who left upset. The elementals left for their positions. But Water Master sneaked away, Yìfēi wondered where she went when the opening ceremony was just about to start.
ShuîYuê found Jīnyú near the koi fishes; he sat by the stairs as tears escaped his obsidian eyes; he was a thin, fair boy who looked childish; he looked delicate with his soft features, and his naive personality didn't help it either. She sat by his side, and he instantly turned towards his Master crying in her shoulders, who caressed his head and patted his shoulders soothingly.
"Master, I didn't mean anything bad. I only wanted to say good luck." he sobbed as ShuîYuê wiped the boy's tears.
"I know Jīnyú."
"But father always scolds me." he cried as more tears spilt on his chubby cheeks.
"Shh, forget about them. Aren't you going to wish me good luck?" she asked softly, holding his face. He nodded his head slowly.
He picked out four small beads from his pouch and handed them to ShuîYuê, "I got these yesterday from the temple. The priest said this would ward off evil." he replied, wiping his face with the edge of his sleeve.
ShuîYuê held them tightly, smiling at the boy's little efforts to wish them safety, "I'll give it to the others as well," she said, getting up to leave, but Jīnyú ran to her, hugging her.
"Jīnyú?" she asked gently.
"Master, come back safely. You still have to teach me many things." he pleaded, letting go of his Master; ShuîYuê nodded her head, leaving the boy alone, who stared at his Master's retreating form with worry in his heart.
In the Martial hall, everyone waited for the Emperor to arrive while they chatted amongst themselves. He came inside, ordering Lin Wen to start the ceremony. While Yìfēi wondered where in the hell he was, ShuîYuê, the Crown prince, would be here at any given moment, and the elementals were supposed to escort him to the Martial Hall from the palace gates.
