JD looked around as he stepped into the fancy restaurant, the calm, romantic atmosphere making him smile. He loved that he finally found the time to come here with the love of his life, knowing this was going to be an amazing date.
He walked up to the hostess, a friendly smile on his face. "Table for two, please."
"Is your girlfriend coming?" The hostess asked as she grabbed two menus.
"She's already with me." JD stated casually.
The hostess glanced around the entrance, a confused look on her face. "There's no one else with you..."
JD pulled out his gun, pointing it at the hostess's head. "The customer's always right." He growled.
The hostess let out a yelp, clearly surprised and terrified. JD couldn't help but smirk at her expression, slipping the gun back into his pocket. "I'm just messing with you. Now, my table?"
"Y-yes, of course!" The hostess hurriedly started leading JD to his table, who hummed softly to himself as he followed. She set down the menus on the table and JD sat down in one of the chairs. "A server will be with you shortly."
As soon as the hostess left, JD pulled out his gun again, setting it down on the opposite side of the table. He had a dreamy smile on his face as he admired it. "You look gorgeous tonight, babe~."
The gun didn't respond, but JD could feel its love. The gun never complained, never yelled at him, and went along with all his plans, unlike his last girlfriend. Their relationship was perfect, their love was God.
"JD...?"
JD looked up at the sound of that familiar feminine voice, his eyes meeting those of Veronica Sawyer. She was dressed in the restaurant's uniform, standing at his table.
"Veronica, you work here?" JD asked, sending his gun an apologetic look. Of course his ex had to be their server, way to make things awkward.
Veronica nodded. "Yeah, I just got this job recently... why is your gun on the table?" She asked, clearly nervous.
"She's my date." JD stated, crossing his arms. Why didn't anyone understand his relationship?
"Jason Dean, did you dump me for a gun?" Veronica asked, narrowing her eyes. "After forcing me to stay for so long, this is that 'better girl' you were talking about?"
"What, are you jealous?" JD asked teasingly, not noticing the clear disappointment in her voice.
Veronica shook her head. "I just thought you'd do better than this."
"You're saying she isn't good enough?" JD growled, Veronica broke his heart and now was insulting his relationship, how dare she?
Veronica let out a small sigh, shaking her head. "No, I just... this isn't normal. Maybe me leaving messed you up even more. I know you only dumped me because I kept trying to dump you."
JD felt a sudden surge of emotion, his eyes growing watery. He realized that Veronica was right, he was nothing without her. He quickly stood, pulling her into a hug. "I-I'm sorry, I want you back, please! I miss you..."
"It's okay, I... I'll think about it." Veronica muttered, hugging him back.
If guns could cry, this one would be sobbing. It watched from the table as JD reunited with his ex, its JD. It thought this was going to be a wonderful date night, but instead, it lost the love of its life. The gun longed to feel JD's hand around it, to be close to him and loved by him, but now it felt forgotten.
JD reached back to the table, picking up his gun and putting it in his pocket, back into the darkness the gun was used to. "Veronica, why don't you join me?"
The gun stayed sad in the darkness as the date it had looked forward to was taken over by the girl that made JD so upset before. It only wished she never came back.
