23. Ride

Friday came quickly and before I knew it, I was packing my stuff into my suitcase.

"Should I take an overcoat?" I ask Marzia.

Marzia chortled, shaking her head, " It's only September, Stella. You won't need it."

"You never know when we'll have to go out on a cold night." I counter, placing my hands over my waist dramatically.

"And just in these three days, the temperature will fall below zero, when it's been all warm and toasty in the past month." She fires back, quirking an eyebrow.

I open my mouth to argue, but a knock on the door beats me to it. The door creaks open and Franco walks in with a bag over his shoulder.

"You ready?" He asks, shifting his weight from one leg to another.

"Stella here is debating over taking an overcoat." Marzia interjects, pointing me out.

"In this toasty warm weather?" Franco laughs and I feel myself frowning.

"That's what I said." Marzia snickers and they break into hysterics.

"Hey! C'mon now. Pack up fast. " Franco says, walking over to me and throwing the neatly folded clothes into my small suitcase, ruining the folds. "Except that overcoat, it's hideous in this weather."

I decide to give up on trying to take the overcoat with me and throw a lotion and a deodorant inside the bag, zipping it.

Franco carries my bag outside the dorms while I hug Marzia, goodbye.

"I can't believe I'm going anywhere outside this city." I say as I climb into the passenger seat beside Franco. "I've not been out of the dormitory in past two years as much as I've been out in the past month."

"I may sound cheesy saying this but I remember my mother reading this to me." Franco says as he starts the engine. "There's a time for everything and a season for every activity."

"Are you gonna recite the whole Bible during this car ride?" I smirk, as I put my seat belt on.

"You wish, kid. You just wish." He says and we drive off.
