20. Irresistible
(Note: The chapter is a continuation from after the game of truth and dare in Chapter 17)
*Edward's POV* (WHAT?)
"Not everything is about you Edward." She says and something inside me shatters with that. I cannot really put a finger on it though. I'm frozen on my spot as she turns to leave and the door locks behind her. I want to run after her, tell her the real deal, but my feet refuse to move.
I fall down on my knees. I have no idea what I have been doing wrong with her.
**Flashback**
"You listen to me you scumbag! You will go to Brickdale High, start afresh and mind you if I hear one bad word of your actions, ruining my reputation. You'll do as I say or I won't hesitate to take everything away from you. You will fulfill the deal and if you fail, I swear to God you'll be begging me to take your life. Now, go ahead and drive yourself off." My father speaks in anguish, handing me a file I'm supposed to hand over to the headmaster.
I open my mouth to speak up and defend myself but I decide against it. I grab the folder and storm out of his office. Freya drives me off to that hell hole of a school. I'm not even allowed to have a car to myself, that is just great! I know people there but I don't want to be a part of that grandiosity. I like having my own space and walking in Brickdale Academy is like calling the paparazzi on oneself. Mr. Devine's word keep ringing in my ears, infuriating me and an unknown rage take over me. I blindly walk into the school, making my way to the principal's office, when I suddenly collide with someone.

The baby blue eyes from the first time I saw Stella haunt me. I stand up and make my way downstairs. "Where is she?" I ask Tristan on the last stair.
"I should be asking you the same." Tristan says, striding towards me and grabbing my collar, and pushing me against the wall "you stay the fuck away. You understand?" I stand transfixed, astonished to see this side of him. "I don't know what happened to you in two years Ed. We used to have our fun together and now I barely know you." he spits.
Memories take over and a shiver runs down my spine. I firmly place my hand over his and free myself from his grip. "I rather be alone. " I say, and turn to leave.
"What changed?" He yells again.
"You did." I say and walk towards the couches where I see Rebbecca and Stephanie are seated, probably having a banter.
"Did you see her?" I ask Steph.
"Why are you so bothered about her?" Rebbecca cuts Steph short, clearly irritate. "Whenever we hear you speak, it's always Stella this, Stella that." She frowns. " I thought it was all in good sport. I thought she was our target." She growls and I roll my eyes at her.
"I wasn't gonna bully her Becca. " I explain. I really don't have time for this bullshit right now.
"Yeah?" She taunts me. "Just fuck with her brain and leave her wondering?" She tilts her head, "Or just fuck her?" She chuckles.
"She is not a whore like you." I smile. Two can play this game right?
She glares at me. "You like her don't you? That's why you asked me to find out about her on your first day." She tries to put two and two together. "You're so obsessed with her." She frowns again. "If my father hears about this Ed, it won't be good for you." She smiles, using her ultimate weapon.
"Let's see if you remember that when I fuck your brains out tonight." Leaving a shocked look on her face, I walk outside, abandoning my own party to find Stella.
Caspar told me on the call that Franco and Joseph drove Stella to the dormitory, so I quickly take my rover out and drive to the Academy. I don't understand what hurt her today. If anyone that should be upset and angry and throwing a fit right now, it should be me and here I am, driving off to explain things to her when I don't even know what I have to explain. Why is it always the guy apologizing and throwing his ego aside for the girl? I shake my head and turn the volume up of the music. The way to Brickdale is memorized to me such that I can drive off blinding to it. Before I know it, I'm pulling I'm three blocks away from the school, not wanting to get caught.
I jump the fences through the blind spot and make my way into the girl's dormitory in no time. I've done this quite often lately when Caspar wants to meet Marzia after midnight. I only accompany him because I love watching Stella sleep as creepy as it sounds. I try to make it less obvious for Caspar and Marzia, telling them that I come around only because I have nothing better to do and I don't want Caspar to get caught, but in all honesty, I could care less about that.
When Marzia let's me into her dorm, I see Stella is curled up on her bed, grabbing her pillow tightly. Her lips form a pout and as adorable as it looks on her, I know she has cried herself to sleep. My doubt is confirmed when I walk towards her and kneel down on the floor in front of her bed. Her pillow is indeed wet under her eyes. An unexplainable pain takes over my body as I conclude that I am the reason why she has been this way.
***
Two days. For two days, I've begged Marzia to let me sneak into her dorm after Stella falls asleep. I've avoided her completely at school because I just dont have the strength to face her. Not yet. But she doesn't need to know that. I'll just keep on pretending to not give a fuck right now. I'll have to start again from the beginning, differently. Marzia has not asked me why I've been in her dorm even when Caspar isn't but I guess she already knows, I'm just grateful that the topic hasn't come up. Marzia barely talks to any of us except Caspar.
Day three is when it becomes unbearable. I don't leave Stella's dorm till morning. I usually leave before Marzia even falls asleep. I decide that talking to her here, in the dorm would be a better idea that to talk to her in the school.
Marzia wakes up before Stella does. It takes her a moment to realise that I'm still in her dorm. She jerks up and stands. "What are you doing here?" She says, rubbing her eyes clean.
"Just wanted to talk to Stella." I shrug.
"Or invading our privacy." She rolls her eyes at me. It's surprising to here a remark from Marzia, as she is the one who is ever so sweet. I decide on ignoring that comment because let's be honest, I am invading their privacy.
"I cannot talk in school." I argue.
"You look like shit." She says walking over to the side table and drinks a glass of water.
"Could care less." I reply fidgeting with my the pocket of my track pants.
"Haven't you lead her on enough already?" She screeches while I motion her to lower her voice.
"I haven't lead her on even a bit." I reply. Marzia is getting irritating by each passing second and I don't end to blow up on her. I look past her to look at Stella, soundly asleep but the frown has never left her face in three days. Suddenly a calming wave washes over me as I look closely at her and a smile forms on my lips.
"Enough with your games Edward." Marzia grits.
"I just have to tell her something. No games, nothing." I say, throwing my hands up in defeat.
"You can't Edward." She says, frowning.
"I just wanna talk Marzia." I huff. She holds her ground and it just makes me more desperate. "I'll be nice." I sound like a whiny kid but who cares right now! "I promise."
"Let her sleep right now." Marzia let's out a heavy breath, shaking her head.
I look past Marzia to see that Stella's eyes are more scrunched up that they usually are when she is sad in her sleep. Her lips are quivering and a low chuckle escapes my lips. "Right." I say.
Someone has been eavesdropping after all. What if she knows I've been watching her sleep from the past two days? She'll be weirded out by me more than she already is. I hope she doesn't find this out ever.
"Everything is not a sport Edward." Marzia remarks as I turn to grab the door handle. My body momentarily freezes. Everyone has been thinking of me this way lately and I cannot even stand up to say they are wrong.
"It's not your place to say Marzia." I say and walk out of the room. The hallway is full of girls beaming at me, shocked that I have spent the night in a girls dorm. A smirk plays on my lips as I exit the building knowing their stares are still fixed on me. My mansion is a short drive from the Academy and it just takes me ten minutes to reach. I run to my room to see Freya has already put out the clothes that I'm supposed to wear today. Though she is supposed to be my maid, she is like a mother figure I never had. She knows me inside out. She knows what I mean even when my mind doesn't find words to put my thoughts into.
I cut short my shower time. I'm already very anxious on what to say to Stella today. Yes, I do not have any more strength to beat around the bushes. I'll put on my best show today. There is not a game I've ever lost and I won't lose the chance to talk to her today. Something inside me is compelling me to do it anyway, I don't have much control over it. I dress up in no time and fling a bag over my shoulder and walk out to finally have a one on one with Stella.
The music blasts through the stereo and it takes my mind of my whole situation for the ride. Nine minutes and Twenty seconds later I find myself pulling up in the parking lot of the academy.
As I walk through the hallway, every female eye is fixed on me. So me being in the girls dormitory is already a news. How sweet! I roll my eyes at the thought and continue walking through the corridors. My planner tells me that I have a Physics lecture to attend and I cannot be more happy. I share my science classes with Stella. I must look mental to every passer by, as a wide smile refuses to leave my lips. Since when have I been smiling so much.
When I make it inside the Physics classroom, I see that Franco and Stella are engulfed in their own conversation. He gets to have a sweet talk with her without breaking a sweat. It takes every nerve inside me to not go and break his neck. I push my thoughts aside and grab the seat next to Stella while she still remains oblivious to it.
"Today we will be discussing about mechanical waves." The professor states. "Can anyone, differentiate them from electromagnetic waves?" He asks and I shoot my hand up. I feel Stella tense behind me and I smirk.
"Mr. Devine." The professor smiles. "It's good that you are finally taking part in class discussion." I roll my eyes at him, still smiling.
"Mechanical waves, unlike electromagnetic waves, " I scoff meeting Stella's baby blue eyes, inviting her to debate, "require the presence of a material medium in order to transport their energy from one location to another."
" Accurate description Mr. Devine." The professor says, clearly impressed.
"Now will anyone tell how they are beneficial over electromagnetic waves?" I shoot my hand up again, smirking at Stella.
"Simple." I answer, shrugging. "They often travel faster the denser their medium is."
"Correct." The professor says. "Now in totality, what presides over the other."
"Electromagnetic waves." Stella funnily cuts me to it, glaring at me. "They can even travel into void." She taunts. "They don't need a medium to propagate."
"Impressive, your first answer in class in two years Ms. Caldwell." The professor smiles at her and I can't help but chuckle which makes her tense immediately.
"What is a common example of a mechanical wave?" The professor continues.
"Sound waves." Franco cuts short Stella and I, grinning. He always has to come in between everything. I roll my eyes, agitated.
"Completely off the mark, but just for general knowledge," the professor says, "what is the human range of hearing them?"
"A normal ear can hear the sound ranging from 20 Hertz to 20 kilo Hertz" I say.
"Even when they are pretending not to." I lean and whisper it into Stella's ear. I feel her face turn red with eyes wide in shock. I smirk. This will definitely get her talking now.

For the next part I want to leave it to you guys. In whose perspective do you want the next chapter. And no I'm not gonna do this often. I was just experimenting and if it goes well with the story, I'll do it a bit.
