Chapter 4
ROOFTOP, YOSEN HIGH, 6:17 pm.
"Do you think we should wake them up?"
"Nah... Hitomi's not really a morning person"
"But... it's already evening..."
"Mmm..." I murmured when I heard voices talk around me. I was starting to wake up but still my eyes were closed. My eyelids were heavy so I had a hard time opening them. As I blinked my eyes open, two of the closest persons to me came in sight. Kensuke and Mayu. I blinked my eyes and squeezed them shut to reconcile myself. What just happened? I finally shot them open and then it furthered open when I realized I was leaning on someone's shoulder. Hesitantly, I averted my eyes upward nervously expecting who the person beside me was. I already knew who... "H-Himuro..." he was asleep and was leaning on my head. Wait... wasn't he the one leaning on my lap? I looked back to the two idiots in front of us as I saw Mayu snap a picture and Kensuke was looking at us with that mischievous smile of his and whispered something to Mayu.
"O-Oi!" I whispered-shouted and was about to attack them, but Himuro's head suddenly fell on my shoulder. Crap! I might wake him up... I carefully adjusted his head on my shoulder so it would be comfortable for him... Bleh... why do I even bother? A-And why am I blushing...? I-It's not like I do like this position!! "K-Kensuke!" I called him but he and Mayu already left us here at the rooftop alone. In this position.
Dang it.
I sighed and just waited for Himuro to wake up. Now that I noticed it... It's already dark!!! What the...?! ...we missed to watch the sunset... "Are they gone?" I heard someone whisper as I lift my head from Himuro's shoulder and saw him awake. Wait he's awake?! "Hitomi?" I quickly push myself away from him and stood up.
"YOU WERE AWAKE?!" I hollered.
"Well, yeah" he nodded and I felt anger rush all over me. He glanced at the night sky and sighed. "It's a shame that we didn't get to see the sunset..." he sounded down. Wait, what exactly happened? "I woke up just as it was happening; but you were still asleep so I let your head lean on my shoulder as thank you for letting me lie on your lap and I didn't want to disturb you..." he smiled at me.
"Then why did you watch the sunset?" I grumbled obviously.
"It's lonely to watch the sunset alone. I'd rather watch the sleeping face of yours" was his answer making me blush and wanted to hit him.
"S-S-Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" I shouted at him continuously as my face turned bright red and I was steaming in embarrassment. This little!! "You were already awake and you didn't stop them from taking that picture! Ghh!!! I hate you!"
"Sorry, maybe we should watch it another time" he stood up and made a run for it as I chase after him. He is not going to get away this time!
He jumped down the stairs like a stupid kangaroo with his left eye still hidden. I ran after him and he disappeared off to the hallways where I can't find him. I walk pass the student council and suddenly remembered that I promised the student president that I'll help her in making the props. Crap! I suddenly burst in the room to find her alone there, painting some banners for the festival.
"K-Kaichou!" I exclaimed, guilty that I wasn't here on time.
"Ah, Yoshio-san I'm glad you made it" she smiled at me and stood up from the floor; her painting gown stained with black paint.
"I'm sorry for being here on time" I apologize and bowed.
"Oh, it's okay. I've just started anyways" she assured. Kaichou is really nice... I watch her prepare more things we have to use in making the banners and hand me one pain brush and smiled. "We have get started now before it gets too late. You have only up until 8pm right?" K-Kaichou...
"K-Kaichou" I cried comically, freaking her out slightly as she sweat dropped.
"Yoshio-san..." she sighed as we started to get to work. Meet Nanami Suzume, the Yosen student council president. Also the valedictorian of their batch, and happens to be the most popular girl in school due to her smart brains and nice personality. She is also one of the cutest girls in the campus, well that is... due to her fragile character. She attracts men unintentionally. "Oh! Yoshio-san I forgot!"
"Huh?" I looked over to her and showed me some request form of the basketball club.
"Araki-sensei gave me that request form for the basketball club because she said they'll be participating in this year's sports fest" Kaichou informed me as I scanned the paper.
"They'll be playing games the whole day and would not be participating in any other games?" I read the form raising an eyebrow. "But it's required that every single student in class should play at least. Being in a sports club doesn't exclude you from that" I pointed out.
"But the basketball club members aren't allowed to play in unofficial games, also, Araki-sensei doesn't want them to run in marathons" Kaichou reasoned as I sighed. When it comes to Araki-sensei, every student council member is scared... It's unfair.
"Fine" I agreed. "But we have to ask the names of every player in that club, okay?"
Kaichou smiled and nodded. "Hai"
COUNCIL ROOM, YOSEN HIGH-7:31 pm.
"Kaichou, we're done with the banners for the entrance. I think this is enough for tonight. Let's go home" I tell her as we finished the props we're going to use. Kaichou closed the taps of the paint and looked at me.
"Un. I'll go wash the brushes" She took the brush I was holding and said. "For the while, you should go to the basketball club for the list of members. I'll catch up with you later"
"Are you sure?" I replied as she responded with a nod. "If you say so" I said and grabbed my bag and head towards the gym where I heard the squeaks of basketball shoes practicing. I peeked at the door and as if cue, I saw Himuro shoot the ball beautifully into the ring. It was awesome. I shook my head to snap out of my daze of watching him and cleared my throat as I entered the gym.
"Tomi-chan, what brings you here?" Kensuke asked, his eyes focused on me. I coughed. "Where's Araki-sensei?" I looked for the female Yosen coach and glanced around the building. I couldn't find her anywhere.
"Oh, coach said she's working on the tag teams that will be playing on our games during the sports festival" Himuro informed me.
"Is that so?" I sighed and turned to the captain of their team, Okamura. "Okamura, can you give the list of your players who are going to participate? The student president needs them" my request wasn't granted easily because they told me that Araki-sensei still isn't finish with the list.
"Come back tomorrow and she'll finish it by then" Kensuke told me. I nodded. Fine. At least I can go home now. "For the meantime, Tomi-chan will watch us practice!" my idiotic cousin suddenly threw his arm around me, and leaned his weight on me again.
"K-Kensuke you baka!" I screamed at the same time Kaichou appearing at the gym door. "K-Kaichou! Help me!" I asked help from the person I know who won't betray me.
"Yoshio-san... F-F-Fu-k-k-kui-san!" she stuttered when she saw my cousin. I look back and forth from them, suspiciously. Does she like him? "F-F-Fukui-san!!" Clumsily, she walked towards us while waving her hands in a moe style of way and tripped on her own feet in front of us. Kensuke pulled his arm back and bent down to see if Kaichou is okay.
"Nanami, you okay?" they happen to be classmates. That's why they know each other.
"Hitomi" Himuro approached me as I glared at him. "Don't think I've forgotten about earlier" I hissed and he chuckled. "I haven't forget your sleeping face either" W-Why this little!! I suddenly blushed again and the steams appeared around my head. Meanwhile, Kaichou looked up to see Kensuke's face close to hers by a few inches making her face as red as mine. And of course, add the steam.
"F-F-F-Fukui-san"
"Yo! Nanami!" and there she dropped dead when my cousin greeted her. She fainted. "Hmm? Tomi-chan, why did Nanami black out?" Kensuke asked me. Ask yourself that, idiot. I huffed. "Baka"
GYM-YOSEN HIGH, 7:42 pm.
"Huh, where am I?" Kaichou finally woke up from her short nap as I fanned her face, while reading manga. I stopped when I felt her sat up and glance at me with those innocent unknowing big eyes of hers. "Yoshio-san?"
"You fainted" was my simple answer. Maybe I shouldn't remind her about Kensuke because she might faint again. I mean, she will faint again. "Do you like my cousin?" I asked her straightforward without any hints catching her by surprise when I saw her flinch as I glance at her. I kept a poker face. "Do you?" she started trembling and looked me nervously as if I was a monster about to eat her. Do I look intimidating to her? "Kaichou?"
"Gomenasai Yoshio-san!" she started to bow repeatedly while apologizing. "You don't have to apologize, I was simply asking" I told her, stopping her from her unnecessary remorseful act. She stopped and gave one last bow before sitting beside me on the bench and sighed. "Well?"
"Gomenasai..." was her response.
"I already told you it's okay" I repeated as she looked at me with pleading eyes. "Please don't tell Fukui-san!" she pleaded, clasping her hands together, begging me to keep it a secret. So she does... poor her... Of all people why my cousin? I sighed, "Sure, just stop apologizing already" her head shot up showing a grateful smile and hugged me. "Arigato!" Yeah, yeah. I patted her back nonchalantly and saw Himuro and Kensuke approach us, both sweaty from training.
"Oh Nanami! Looks like you're awake already!" Kensuke greeted Kaichou once again, but this time, she didn't faint. He grinned at her not able to see the pink blush appearing on her cheeks as she battled not to stutter.
"H-Hi there, F-Fukui-san..." successful.
"By the way, it's almost eight o'clock, why are you guys still practicing?" I questioned them, noticing the dark atmosphere covering the skies. Today, I told my aunt that I'll be absent on my shift because of the duties I need to do as a member of the student council. Actually Kensuke was the one who told her that because he and I know my he is our aunt's favourite. She's actually a single woman.
"Oh, we decided for overtime since the national competition is getting nearer" Himuro answered me. Oh right, that Winter Cup thingy. "You must be fired up then" I smirked as he smiled back. "How about you guys?" We also receive a question from them when Kensuke glanced at Kaichou making her flinch.
"A-Ano... we came to prepare for the sports festival..." she reasoned timidly, clearly shy towards Kensuke.
"I see. Well then, why don't we all walk home together? It's getting late anyways" Himuro suggested which made Kensuke grin in agreement. "Yeah! Yeah! And Himuro will walk Tomi-chan home like a boyfriend does to his girlfriend~" Kensuke you idiot!!! He's making me blush again! Gh... Even if I don't like the guy...
"I supposed you'd do the same to Kaichou?" Himuro assumed, looking at Kensuke. I told him about her earlier. Kensuke stared at him for a second and grinned. "Sure" Oh no... I looked over to Kaichou who was letting off steam like a factory. I sweat dropped when I saw her faint again and sighed. "Change walk to carry, Kensuke" I told him.
When they finished changing into their school uniform, we four or three walked home since Kaichou was still unconscious. Kensuke was carrying Kaichou on his back and I reminded him to bring her home before she wakes up because there'd be no difference. He'll be carrying her home in any way. "Oh, here's mine and Nanami's street. See you two" Kensuke and Kaichou parted ways as my cousin walked to their street. Their houses are a few blocks away.
"We should walk faster" Himuro told me and now that I've thought about it... "Ne, Himuro, where do you live?" I asked him as he chuckled. "20 questions again huh?" he sang making me pout. "No" he chuckled again. "I was just curious. You've been walking me home for 2 days I think, and I don't know if it's causing you trouble because your house is far or something"
He smiled at me again. "It's not causing me trouble at all" That doesn't answer my question.
"So, where do you live?" I repeated my question as we stopped. Oh we're here; I didn't realize it. As I turned to him, his face suddenly leaned closer to me and whispered: "It doesn't matter where I live, as long as this" he pointed at my heart--I meant chest. He's a freaking pervert!!! "Is my forever address. Then, I'll stay there forever"
I blushed but he didn't see because he leaned back and turned away. "Good night, Hitomi" he fled and left stunned in front of our gate. H-Himuro!!! PERVERT.
