This will be a longer type of one-shot; a short story!!

Charlie sighed in relief as the time hit 3 p.m. meaning his shift at the cafe was over. He had gotten a job during the summer to start saving up for when he had to visit Nick.

Nick was away at university and they were long-distance. He had visited Charlie about two times now, and it was now his turn to buy the train ticket.

The young couple agreed to split up who has to visit whom and who buys the ticket two times apart meaning Nick would visit Charlie twice and then Charlie would plan to visit Nick two times. It was working great so far.

Yes, Charlie had been a nervous wreck about them being long-distance but his boyfriend was proving his worries wrong.

They had never missed a planned FaceTime date and they managed to text every day so far when Nick wasn't in classes. Once he got to his car, Charlie checked his bank account app on his phone to see how much he had saved up so far, and his whole face lit up at the number.

"Yes!!" Charlie cheered to himself. He had saved up enough for at least 2 train tickets! He couldn't wait to tell someone about it, he would text Nick but he knew he was in the middle of a class and Tori was busy. So he drove home and rushed over to Jane and Julio who were sitting in the living room watching TV.

"Guess what!?" Charlie said to get their attention.

The young teenager blushed in embarrassment as his voice went all squeaky because he was excited.

"Yeah?" Jane wondered as Julio grabbed the remote and paused the TV. 

"I finally earned enough money to visit Nick this weekend!!" Charlie chirped with big happy eyes.

The excitement Charlie had faded away as Jane sighed deeply, being dramatic (as usual). Julio looked at his wife as if begging her not to say anything she would regret later.

"Why are you wasting so much of your money on those train tickets? FaceTime is free." Jane asked, she didn't understand why her son was spending this much.

Charlie rubbed his face, "It's not a waste Mom. I haven't seen Nick in about a month." he explained the best he could. He regretted going to them with this news.

"It's my money, I'm not asking you for it so there's no need for you to lecture me. I'm excited to go and you guys don't seem to care!" He ranted in frustration. Why did she care so much about what he spent his own money on?!

"I'm not lecturing you Charlie, I'm warning you. You're going to regret spending this much on train tickets when the long distance ends up being too much for you." Jane said in defense.

"Well, I'm going to visit Nick and you can't stop me." Charlie stormed upstairs, slamming his bedroom door shut in protest.

Jane rubbed her face, "Don't slam the door!" She called up.

Charlie rubbed his face with a sigh. He wanted to share with his parents how excited he was. Why did she have to ruin his mood? He plopped at his bed and grabbed his phone, only Nick could cheer him up.

Char💛: babe!!!

Char💛: guess what!!

Char💛: I earned enough money to visit you! I can come this weekend only if ur free :)

There was an instant reply even if he was in class. Charlie smiled as it showed Nick was typing.

Nicky💙: OMG!!!!

Nicky💙: YAY!!

Nicky💙: YES I'm FREE!!

Nicky💙: I was going to be bored in my dorm this weekend lol

Charlie sighed in relief. He was relieved Nick didn't have plans and wanted to see him. He didn't want to be a burden to Nick. He made sure to buy the right ticket on his laptop as he texted Nick.

Char💛: I'm going to be at the train station tomorrow at 2 pm

Char💛: just bought the ticket!!

Char💛: I can't wait to see you! ☺️

Nicky💙: me either 😩😘❤️

Char💛: Go back to class babe I don't want to get you in trouble.

Nicky💙: ugh fine. Love you xx

Charlie blushed at the X's at the end of Nick's text.

They've been dating for so long and Nick could still make him get all flustered and blush over text. He made sure the confirmation code to his train ticket got sent over, before shutting his laptop.

He was about to get up to get dressed but looked up as his bedroom door opened.

"Did you buy the ticket?" It was his mom. Why couldn't she leave him alone? Charlie sighed; he didn't have the energy after a workday to deal with her.

"Yeah, I did," Charlie answered. He learned over the years that if you don't talk back to her, maybe the conversation won't turn into an argument.

Jane sighed, "Okay. How much was it?" She asked. Charlie rubbed his face, why did she have to know that?

"Mom, I don't need to give you that information. I spent my own money on it! Why is it such a big deal to you!?" Charlie finally snapped. He didn't have the energy to be calm with her anymore, this was getting ridiculous!

"I'm just curious!" Jane said in defense. "Why do you have to be so dramatic whenever I ask you a question?" She declared.

Tears formed in Charlie's eyes out of frustration. "Whatever, I'm going tomorrow and nothing you can say or do will stop me." He stood up for himself. Why did he even have to stand up for himself for spending his own money for fuck sake?

"Fine. Dinner is almost ready," Jane seethed and walked out. Charlie rubbed his face roughly, trying not to break down in tears.

Instead of going downstairs to dinner, Charlie got under the covers and hid in his pillow with a groan. He knew he shouldn't skip dinner, but he didn't want to face his mom again.

Even if it was 6 p.m., Charlie rolled over and went to sleep dreaming of jumping into Nick's arms as Nick picked him up from the train station the next day. 

***The next morning***

For the first time in a while, Charlie woke up to the sound of his alarm with excitement instead of dread.
Charlie couldn't believe later that day he was going to be in Nick's arms again, in real life instead of in his dreams! He wondered if Nick also dreamt about him. He made a mental note to ask Nick about that later on as he began to get out of bed. He checked his phone as it buzzed, a smile formed on his face as soon as he saw it was a text from Nick.

Nicky💙: can't wait to hold you in my arms again 😩💛

Char💛: I was just thinking the same thing 😅

Nicky💙: When are you getting on your train again?

Char💛: 2 pm :)

Nicky💙: ugh can it be 2 pm already 😩

Charlie giggled at Nick's reply and put his phone down so he could focus on getting ready for the day. He made sure he had everything packed before he began to decide what to wear.

One of the things Charlie struggled with working on recovering from his eating disorder was picking out something to wear each day.

Charlie had to allow himself extra time since he knew it would take him an hour or so to go through his whole closet till he found the perfect thing to wear.

It was exhausting.

Once Charlie picked out an outfit; his usual black ripped skinny jeans and a sweater combo, with his favorite Converse, he made his way downstairs.

"Hey, excited to see Nick?" His dad asked as he entered the kitchen.

Charlie smiled over at his dad as he made himself a bowl of cereal, making sure to eat breakfast since he skipped dinner the night before.

"Yes! I can't wait!" Charlie chirped and sat down at the table.

He glanced over at Jane who was avoiding the whole conversation as she did the dishes.

"When are you going to the train station? Do you have everything packed?" Julio quizzed as he sipped his coffee.

Charlie expected these questions from his dad. His dad was always over the top when it came to traveling.

"I'm going to the station around 1:15 p.m. to allow myself some extra time. The train leaves at 2 pm." Charlie explained as he ate.

"Good!" Julio smiled in approval.

Charlie put his dishes away and walked upstairs, wishing he could just fast-forward time to see Nick.

***time skip***
*now on the train arriving*

Charlie quickly got up from his seat and began to gather up all his belongings when the train arrived at his stop, the University of Leeds. Charlie stuffed his earbuds into his pockets and pulled his bag over his shoulder as he shuffled out of the train.

Charlie tried to ignore the anxiety that began to wash over him. He was worried that Nick would notice how he gained weight with his recovery since the last time they saw each other. But he knew that Nick would never mention anything like that and it was just his thoughts trying to ruin his good mood; he wasn't going to let that happen this time. He needed to focus on seeing Nick for the first time in a while!

Char💙: just arrived in Leeds!!

Nick replied in seconds.

Nicky💛: be there in about 15 minutes! Traffic sucks atm 😩

Char💙: okay I'm sitting at the curb by the parking lot :)

Charlie sat at the curb with a sigh. Traffic sucked, he just wanted to be in his boyfriend's arms. Ugh, With this extra 15 minutes of waiting, it gave his anxious thoughts some time to appear again. The young teenager distracted himself by pulling out his phone. He realized he needed to let his parents know he got there safely before his mom called him while having a panic attack; she worries as easily as he does. That's probably where he got his anxiety from, his mom.

Charlie: I just arrived at Leeds!

Charlie: Waiting for Nick at the train station now, he said the traffic was bad but would be here soon

Mom: glad you got there on time

Mom: Of course Nick's late, he should have left earlier!

Dad: Jane, Nick can't control the traffic!!

Dad: I'm also glad you got there well!

Charlie sighed at his mom's reply, he should've expected she'd say something like that. He put away his phone and felt happiness wash away his anxiety as a familiar car pulled up into the parking lot;

Nick's car!!!

Charlie got up and was about to gather his stuff but paused with a giggle as he watched Nick struggle to park his car fast. Nick got out of the car, he almost forgot to close the door and ran full speed over to Charlie.

Nick's face was light up with excitement like a dog excited for its owner to be home after a long day out.

Charlie let out an excited squeal as he jumped into Nick's arms once Nick got close enough to him.

Nick laughed spun Charlie around and hugged him close.

Charlie clung to Nick tightly. His loud mind was now quiet as he was in Nick's arms. He felt tears whelm in his eyes, he'd missed Nick so much.

"Hey, you okay-" Nick tried to ask but giggled as Charlie interrupted him with a kiss.

"Yes, I'm fine. Now that I'm here with you." Charlie mumbled and hid in Nick's shoulder.

"Wow, So cringe." Nick teased. He hugged Charlie even closer if possible.

Charlie snorted and kissed Nick again, "But you love me." He whined in protest.

Nick smiled at his boyfriend and grabbed Charlie's bags for him to help load up his car. "Yeah I do." He agreed.

Charlie blushed and followed Nick as they began to walk to his car. He couldn't believe he was back with Nick again, he never wanted this weekend to end.
