Prom shouldn't be something to be anxious about. Especially when he has a handsome date, but Charlie couldn't help it.

The thought of wearing a suit and dressing up made the teenager feel nauseous, but he'd do anything to make Nick happy. Nick was thrilled about Prom. Nick even made a Pinterest board to help him decide on what kind of suit he'd buy. It was adorable; Nick was adorable. So, to make Nick happy, Charlie put all his worries aside. That's why he was standing in front of his mirror on prom night, adjusting his tie.

Charlie had decided on a baby blue suit that Tori claimed brought out his eyes. It was a compromise. He wanted to wear a pink-lined white suit but Jane insisted it was too girly and would put too much attention on him.

"Charlie! Nick's here!" Jane called upstairs. Charlie took a breath and brushed his hair to make sure he looked good before rushing down the stairs, so fast he almost fell. He froze for a second as he saw Nick standing there, talking to his mom holding flowers.

God, how did Charlie get so lucky? Nick looked stunning in his navy blue suit and baby blue tie to match Charlie's suit. The couple decided to go with blue suits so they could be color-coordinated.

"Wow." Nick breathed and pulled Charlie close. Charlie squeaked in surprise as Nick touched his hips but didn't protest, he blushed. He was about to lean in to kiss Nick but Julio walked in with a camera.

"Let's get a picture of the couple!" Julio cheered. Charlie grumbled in embarrassment but stood beside Nick.

"You look beautiful." Nick took the opportunity to whisper to Charlie as they stood close to pose for the photo. Charlie made sure to smile for the picture before turning to Nick.

"I should be the one complimenting you! I can't believe I'm seeing Nick Nelson in a suit" he fangirled, earning a chuckle from Nick.

"So are you guys meeting up with Tao and Elle there?" Tori asked as she appeared from the kitchen.

"Yup! Tao had the guts to ask Elle to prom and she said yes," Charlie explained, leaning into Nick.

"Well, you guys better get going you don't want to be late." Jane hummed. Charlie took the flowers Nick got them and handed them to Julio so he could put them in a vase before following Nick outside.

"I can't get over how attractive you are." Nick opened the car door for Charlie, causing him to blush.

"I'm not-" Charlie squeaked in surprise as Nick interrupted him with a kiss. "Nope. I'm not letting you not be confident on prom night. You are beautiful. Repeat it." Nick demanded, wanting Charlie to understand how gorgeous he is.

"I-I'm beautiful." Charlie managed to say, not expecting Nick's stern voice. His voice got deep when it was demanding, it was hot.

"Good." Nick patted Charlie's butt and motioned for him to get into the car. Charlie grumbled before getting in, making sure to shut the car door behind him.

"I'll let Tao and Elle know we are on our way to the school," Charlie said as he grabbed his phone from his pocket. "Good idea." Nick agreed as he began to drive.

Char: on our way to the school!

Elle: yay!

Tao: it's about time we are already there

Charlie snorted in amusement at Tao's sass and put away his phone. He looked down at his lap, a deep shade of pink painting his cheeks as he realized Nick's hand was holding his thy. He loved when Nick did that as he drove.

About 15 minutes had passed before Nick pulled into the crowded school parking lot.

"Ready?" Nick massaged Charlie's thy gently and patted it before turning off the engine.

Charlie nodded in agreement and made sure he looked okay in the car mirror before following Nick out after Nick made sure he locked the car.

"Ready to go in?" Nick asked and pulled Charlie out of the car. Charlie blushed and kissed Nick.

"Thanks for the kiss." Nick smiled. Charlie raised an eyebrow with a giggle, "You've never thanked me for a kiss before." Charlie laughed.

"Mmm," Nick smirked and walked into the school.

Charlie followed behind, he drew a sharp breath to prepare himself for the crowd and loud noises.

"Charlie!!" Elle rushed over with big happy eyes. She was wearing a purple dress that flowed down to her knees. "Wow, Elle you look so beautiful!" Charlie squealed and hugged her.

"So do you!" Elle smiled and turned to Nick "You handsome boy better treat Charlie right." She flicked Nick's nose before walking back to Tao who waved.

"Want to dance?" Nick hummed. Charlie smiled as he looked around the room, it was decorated with a winter theme. White snowflakes and blue ribbons. It made the Turham gym look pretty. "Yes."
Charlie giggled as Nick pulled him through the crowd. They danced a bit along to the beat of the music. Charlie gripped Nick's hips and swayed along with him.

"I'm going to get some punch." Nick hummed after they danced through a couple of songs. "get me some too?" Charlie asked. Nick nodded and Charlie watched him leave through the crowd.

Charlie awkwardly stood in the middle of the crowd, hoping that Nick would be fast.

Charlie yelped out in surprise and embarrassment as suddenly bright pink paint was dumped over his suit, splashing his face. Tears whelmed in his eyes as the sound of laughter echoed around him, students staring and recording on their phones. Things went blurry from the humiliation as he heard three pairs of footsteps rushing up to him. "Oh, my god." Elle pulled Charlie out of the cafeteria, Nick and Tao following behind and glaring at anyone who dared to laugh in their direction.

"I knew I shouldn't have come! I shouldn't have made you come with me! I'm so sorry Nick I embarrassed you." Charlie broke down sobbing.

Tao looked at Nick who grabbed a wet paper towel and wiped his boyfriend's face gently. "Im going to find out who did this and murder them with a shovel. You going to help?" Tao asked Elle and Nick.

"For sure." Nick sighed and made sure to get the paint out of Charlie's eyes. "don't you dare apologize for this char, you didn't plan for this." He said in a soft tone as he saw the tears roll down his boyfriend's cheek.

"I ruined your prom." Charlie sniffled and looked down at his once baby-blue suit that was now stained pink. "No, you didn't. I wanted to come with you, I'm the one who asked you. Even if this did happen, I'd rather be nowhere else but with you." Nick sighed, hoping Charlie believed him, and hugged him close not caring if he got paint on his suit.

Charlie sunk into Nick's arms and clung to him as his life depended on it.

"Now I got paint on your suit." Charlie huffed as if that was the biggest concern at the moment. This caused Nick to chuckle and then he looked at Tao and Elle.

"You guys go enjoy the rest of your prom the best you can. I'm going to bring Charlie home." Nick said softly. "Okay. We'll make sure to do extra dancing for you both." Elle assured and pulled a grumbling Tao out of the bathroom.

Charlie looked at Nick, feeling like he could break down crying at any second. He didn't understand why Nick put up with him.

"Let's go home," Nick suggested. Charlie nodded and followed Nick out of the bathroom leaving pink paint footsteps behind.

"Oh shit Charlie," Tori cried as she rushed over to the couple as they arrived at the spring household. Charlie looked at his older sister with teary eyes and a forced smile. "I had such a great time," he said sarcastically. Tori glanced at Nick in worry before hugging Charlie close.

"What happened!?" Jane rushed over with a towel to make sure no paint gets on the carpet.

"Some guys at prom decided to prank Charlie by dumping paint all over him in the middle of the dance floor," Nick explained in a quiet tone, his own eyes whelming with tears. He didn't understand who could do anything to cause Charlie pain, Charlie was so pure and kind he did not deserve any of this.

"They better find out who did this and suspend them." Tori huffed.

"Don't worry, Tao is going to make sure he finds out who did it and is going to murder them," Charlie assured and wiped his eyes as more tears escaped.

"Take your shoes off and leave them outside to try. Go upstairs to change and make sure to take a shower right away." Jane instructed.

Charlie nodded and took off his shoes before walking upstairs.

Nick followed behind, he wanted to make sure this situation wasn't going to cause Charlie to relapse.

"I'm sorry," Charlie mumbled to Nick again as they made it into Charlie's bedroom.

Nick pouted and hugged Charlie close, kissing him softly. "No s-word. You know what we never got to do?" Charlie looked at him with big confused eyes, not sure what his boyfriend meant. "What?"

"Slow dance." Nick connected his phone to Charlie's speaker before putting on the song, 'Those Eyes' by New West. He gripped Charlie's hips gently and began to sway them slowly.

Charlie couldn't help but smile and laid his head on Nick's shoulder as they swayed. Nick hummed along to the lyrics and twirled Charlie, smiling in victory as Charlie giggled in response. He would do anything to make Charlie happy, he hoped Charlie knew that.

"I love you," Charlie mumbled against Nick's shoulder, hugging him closer. Nick hummed in acknowledgment and kissed the bit of Charlie's forehead that did not have paint on it.

"I love you too. You better shower." Nick said quietly as the song ended. He paused the music and looked at Charlie who nodded.

"Stay the night?" Charlie begged, not trusting himself to be alone after what happened. Nick nodded and pulled Charlie close, kissing him before he went to the bathroom. "Yes." He assured and watched Charlie go in.

Nick plopped on Charlie's bed and drew a sharp breath, after tonight he made a reminder in his mind to find whoever did this to Charlie and beat their asses. Charlie was too good for this world, and Nick was going to do whatever it takes to protect him from harm.
