'When life give you lemons, squeeze it in peoples eyes.'
...............
Placing my backpack on my shoulders I push open the glass doors of Valentino Ice ready for another day of work.
This you see,is my only means of survival right now so I've got no complaints.
Heading over to the counter I place my thumb on the scanner at the side, which verifies that I've actually come to work.
Yup it's that much, can't even skip a day without the boss getting notified.
Piece of crap if you'd ask me.
"Hey."Abel says as he comes out from the store.
"Well hello to you."I nudge him with my shoulders.
"Just a hi would have done but you just had to be weird..."He trails of and I just feel like smacking him in the head but I don't,instead I roll my eyes.
Just as I take my apron and put it on,some guy who looks like he's been running from a huge tiger for about an hour rushes in.
He goes over to the bar side and picks a menu pretending to look at it as he uses it to cover his face.
Being the curious girl I am,I walk over to him.
"Is there anything you'd like?"I ask plastering a smile on my face.
He puts the menu down and his face goes in relief as he looks at me.
"I don't need to order anything...just keep your eyes out for a psycho."He says and covers his face with the menu again.
What a strange man.
I decide to take a sit in front of him.
"May I ask what's wrong sir?"I ask in a polite tone and he looks up to me.
"Don't call be sir, look at me."He gestures to himself.
"I might just be a year older than you...you can call me Devon."He concludes.
"Okay Devon...what's going on?"I ask.
Gosh I'm supposed to be working.
"Have you ever had your life tormented every single day by just one person?"He asks raising an eyebrow.
Raise your hands if you think this guy is nuts.
"No I have not."I held back a laugh.
"This clingy-"
The doors of the building are flung open by some girl who looked about my age although all the makeup made me think otherwise.
She was wearing a crop top and a mini skirt which had actually passed the level of mini. She seemed to be looking for something.
I look back to Devon who has his eyes on me in terror.
"That...beast wouldn't leave me alone."Devon muttered under his breath.
I tried my best to hold back the laughter that was threatening to erupt in any minute and that earned a glare from Devon.
"Do me a favour...would you?"He asks me with pleading eyes.
"And that would be?"I asked.
Again supposed to be working.
"Go over there and distract her, maybe even do something mean so she could get the hell out of here...and out of my life too."He muttered the last part.
This is week is starting to turn into a really fun one.
"And what's in it for me?"I asked although I really didn't expect anything in return.
"Buttercup I'll have to decide that later."He says with a smug look.
Buttercup?
"I am certainly not buttercup."I huffed.
"What's your name then?"He questioned.
"Eliza."
"Hmmm...buttercup it is."He smirked and I rolled my eyes at him.
I started to notice his features slowly. His tousled hair fell on his face faintly,he had piercing blue eyes sorta like the ocean, eyes you'd want to get lost in,my eyes trailed to his perfectly shape pink lips and then to his sharp jaw line.
"Quite checking me out and just help me already."Devon rolled his eyes.
"Oh please I'm not checking you out."I denied.
"Don't be shy buttercup, everyone wants a piece of me one way or another."He smirked and all I wanted to do was wipe that dirty smirk off his face.
"You wish I would want you."I said to him.
"I know you want me."He said, that smirk never leaving his face.
I rolled my eyes and walk away to help him out with his little favour.
What?I'm nice.
"Would you like your order to go or served?"I asked the Barbie faced lady with the nicest smile I could sum up.
"Look I didn't come to order anything, not in this old school junk anyway."She rolled her eyes referring to the restaurant.
She's got it wrong cause this place is the town's best restaurant,it may be old but that's what keeps it alive, not forgetting old school stuff just like that, sometimes it can be fun, especially in the winter when we serve on hover boards and wear colourful wigs with huge fluffy coats on.
Yup it's that crazy.
I remember the sissy standing in front of me with her hands on her hips.
"Well it's either you order something or leave."I eyed her and no it's not because Devon said I should be mean,it's just she somehow sickens me.
You ever felt like that before.
"You don't give me orders,I'm rich and look at you working here, poor thing...I could buy this place you know."She said with that annoying squeaky voice of hers.
I hate in when people look down on others just because they don't have a perfect life, last time I checked nobody's perfect.
"Why don't you go disturb people your age, with that makeup on you look at least thirty."I glared at her and she walked away, her heels clicking every step.
I took in a breath walked over to where Devon was seated and let it out.
He had the menu covering his face.
I cleared my throat to let him know I was there.
"Why didn't you tell me she's such a bitch."I asked as I took a seat and he only grinned at me.
"She pissed you off didn't she?"He raised his eyebrows at me and I gave a slight nod but he didn't push further.
"Why are you rejecting her anyways? Most guys would literally make her their little sex dummy."I asked after a while.
"That's because I'm not like most guys."He said getting up.
Did I offend him?
He placed a twenty dollar bill on the table and walked out without saying a word.
What was the money for?He didn't even order anything.
Sighing I walked over to Abel who was now looking at me.
"You sure spent a lot of time with that guy."He said.
"Yeah it was nothing."
"You'd never understand girls this days."He murmured but my mind only drifted to Devon.
Why did his mood change so suddenly?
Was he mad at me or nah?
