Chapter 3: The Kidnap

Edited (8/1/2016)

The sun had embedded itself into the Earth and let its ghastly gray brother dominate the sky amongst the darkness and dazzling morass of stars.

Daniel was tending to the fire, tossing whatever fuel he can to keep it alive and keep it cooking the can that was held by sticks. The blond looked up and glanced worriedly at Travis. The teen sat on the opposite direction and log of his brother. It's been an awkward day since he's been like this.

Travis can only hate him for so long, it's just that there are moments when borderlines go through "splitting". The definition is the rigid separation of positive and negative thoughts feelings about oneself and others. They sometimes experience two separate people of a close relation.

Travis can one day admire and love "Good Daniel" without reservation, perceiving him as completely good and his negative qualities are no where to be seen. These negative qualities is what makes "Bad Daniel". Other days, Travis can hate "Bad Daniel" and rant about his evil without guilt or self-reproach, and his positive character traits are non-existence. There is no in-between.

Daniel sighed and used a thick napkin to grab the can and put a plastic fork in it. He walked over to his brother and placed by him.

"I'm sorry I ruined ya first day out here," Daniel mumbled before walking off.

He took the can started gulping down food. After a while, this image of "Bad Daniel" soon withered away just like his anger, and that's when "Good Daniel" came kicking in. Then sadness tugged at his heart out of no where. "No. I should be the one that's sorry." It's so hard to control this rollercoaster of emotions, especially during anxiety or mood swings.

"It's OK, Travis. Things like this happen to us normally. You don't have to apologize." He flashed the teen a smile.

Travis loved how his brother is so understanding and kind. He was lucky to be blessed with one.

"After dinner, we can make smores. I got a bag full of marshmallows," Daniel said to switch the topic. He rummaged through the bag.

"Please tell me you didn't get those retarded rainbow ones?" Travis playfully smiled at Daniel.

The blond smiled and laughed. "I know ya like the back of my hand, bro. I got the extra large ones that ya been cravin'!"

Travis dived into the pile of smores. He had eaten five of them already and was half way done with his sixth one. While Daniel only had a measily two.

"Woah." Daniel chuckled as he saw all of the crumb of Graham crackers and melted marshmallow over Travis's cheeks. Travis does tend to binge eat now and then. "Slow down, bud. Here, this'll help."

Daniel handed his brother a knapkin and a small bottle of water.

"Thanks," he said. Travis looked up far into the shining sea of stars. He was in deep thought for a while. The he said, "And also...Thanks for being here with me. I bet dad is more proud then you back in heaven."

"You're a great brother too and I double dog dare ya that dad loves you just the same," Daniel said as he ruffled his head.

Travis may have BPD, but that won't stop Daniel from loving him. Besides, Travis is actually a good person deep down. He is a normal person, but with a different mind and shouldn't be treated differently just because of that.

Travis dropped his smore to the ground. "I'm not a good per-"

"Don't say that Travis. Ya a good person in my and dad's eyes, no matter what illness ya have. Ya remember the dog tag from earlier?"

"Yeah," the teen mumbled. He took out the tag from out his pocket. "I still have it with me."

"When ya down, just think of dad. Don't let anyone or anything tell you different. If someone does, I'll bitch slap them until they reach the end of the world!" Daniel joked.

Travis chuckled and inhaled the reassuring smell of pine. It was definitely relaxing to the senses. "I'm so glad we're out here."

"Yeah, me too."

The two continued talking through the night and played a few games. But this was thinning Gift's patients dry as he and gang waited for them to fall asleep.

The German gritted his teeth. "Why can't they just go to bed now. They must be running on coffee or something to keep them up this late!"

Sneasel was still examining them. They were such a unique pair to watch. He inched closer to get a better view of them. But his foot got stuck on a fallen tree branch and tripped. He yelped as he hit the ground. Luckily, he didn't fall out of the greenery to expose himself.

Travis jumped when the bushes started rattling.

"Are you a moron?!" Gift spat in his face and pulled him back.

Bunch of weird noises came from the bushes, which made Travis's hair stick on end and run behind his brother.

Daniel noticed it too. And his "fight or flight response" started kicking in. He grabbed a swtich blade from a bag. "Stay quiet and back sway," he said to Travis.

The teen did what he was commanded. He chewed his nails as his brother crept up to the bushes. His heart beated uneasily.

Daniel's heart was thudding fast also, he can't be scared now. Not when his brother needed his protection.

Daniel was about to swing. But then a whip emerged, wrapped around his switch blade, and pulled from his hand. "Who's ther-"

"Charge!"

The Slither Gang followed Gift's order and jumped onto Daniel, tying him up in rope.

"Run!" Daniel said before one of them put him in a sleeping hold and fell unconscious.

Large amounts of adrenaline surged through the teen's body and he immediately charged into the trees.

"Serviper, catch the boy and retrieve him to me!" Gift tossed his poké ball and Serviper was summoned. The snake like pokémon went after the teen.

Travis ran at his top speed. Dodging any obstacles that stood his way. Why, why this? Why did I do to get this, Arceus?

The Serviper was on pursuit: sliding on the grass in a zig-zag patterns. Even in the darkest of places, it could still hunt down its prey. It can sense the trail of heat that Travis made by sensing it with its tongue. It's tail rattled in excitement as the heat trail began getting hotter and hotter.

He's close.

Travis's legs ached and screamed bloody murder for him to stop. His gasped for air with every breath. Sweat covered his body. A sweat got into his eye. He hissed and rubbed his stinging eye, but then he was oblivious to the evergreen tree branch ahead of him. He ran right into and it smacked right in the stomach. This knocked the oxygen out of his lungs that he so desperately needed and collapsed onto the ground. Dirt covered his clothing.

He looked up. The trees were swaying, yet no wind wasn't disturbing them. A trippy experience began to unfold as his lack of oxygen took toll of his body. His world darkened with every second. It's over...

The last thing he saw was a pair of glowing red eyes.
