Chapter 5- Unfortunate Circumstances, Really!?
Prince Patton adjusted his shirt to look straighter before opening one of the large doors in front of him.
"Mother?" He called out searching for the woman who was usually sat on the large throne in the middle of the room, just like how he found her today.
"Yes Patton?" She asked in her fairly intimidating voice.
"U-Um I was wondering if I could go observe the training today?" He asked politely as to not further upset her today.
"I'll allow it but, please do not speak to that Remus boy again. You know how I do not like him," She advised with a slightly calmer demeanor. It seemed as if Patton had that effect on people, whenever people talked to him they became calmer and more relaxed. He called it his "special gift."
"Alright thank you, And I won't," Patton replied cheerfully yet somewhat disappointed for not being able to talk to one of his friends.
But not wanting his mother to change her mind he quickly headed towards the training grounds. This seemed to be one of the highlights of his day, watching the guardsmen train. Usually he'd watch from his balcony but, on occasion he'd ask for permission to go to the field for a closer view. He just found it fascinating how they could be so tough yet so graceful with their movements.
Once he reached the field and took a seat on one of the bleacher-esque seats. He watched as the coach began yelling specific techniques and directions to them before letting them begin with their swings and strikes.
Patton's attention was mostly stolen by one boy's graceful and tactical blows. That boy was none other than Roman Kingsley, one of the most handsome boys Patton knew. Almost every girl Patton knew of has had a crush on him, he's that good looking.
But what most people don't care much about is the boy standing close to Roman. Remus Kingsley, his twin. Remus was just as handsome as his brother but, Remus's mind was a bit unstable. If he was more sane I bet girls would be all over him too. But he'd probably hate all of the attention so invisible was aye okay in his eyes.
Once practice was finished with all of the guards began to split up and grab their things. They began walking towards Patton not yet noticing the watchful eyes of the small boy.
"Hiya Roman!" Patton called out waving to the now startled twins. The small prince just smiled down to their shocked faces.
"Your Majesty you should be inside! What are you doing out here?" He asked concerned towards the cheerful prince.
"Watching the daily training, by the way you did a good job today. Your swings were much swifter and calculated than yesterday," He praised the guard with a large smile his way.
"Thank you, but does your mother know you're out here? I wouldn't want you to get in trouble because of me," Roman continued formally with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"Yes she does but, I think I should head back now," Patton suggested to ease the boy's nerves.
"Would you like us to escort you? We were just heading that way to get to our scheduled posts" He offered all of his nervousness thrown out the window.
"That'd be lovely," Patton agreed climbing down and joining the pair to walk towards his mother's usual location.
They all walked through the halls in comfortable silence not wanting to disrupt the beautiful sound of the outside world. They finally reached the entrance to the throne room and walked in to see Queen Arina making a decision. This was normal, as she is the Queen and needs to make decisions all of the time. But this one was a bit different.
"I say tear it down and send our condolences to the children." She said seriously to the man in front of her.
"What are you tearing down mom?" Patton asked curiously making his presence known.
"Oh some unfortunate circumstances came up forcing me to shut down this old orphanage down the way from here. It was either close and tear it down or, sell it to someone else. But I don't think anyone would want to buy that old ladies home for the unwanted so I'm just going to demolish it." She explained in a sort of threatening tone, clearly aggravated from all of the work she had to do.
"Pardon me ma'am but which orphanage was it exactly?" Roman asked with a worried look on his face that was matched with his brother's.
"Miss Elliot's or Evelyn's or something like that." She explained looking over a paper that needed her signature. Both boys let out a gasp and their faces turned from worried to distraught.
"Miss Edwin," Roman whispered extremely upset. But no one could have predicted how Remus reacted to the news.
Bam another chapter out, also sorry about the cliffhanger (not really) >:)
