Chapter 4- It's a bit Wendy outside.

The time has come. There was no avoiding it anymore. I mean to be fair he literally couldn't avoid it, she was standing right in front of him.

"Hello Prince Virgil," she said cheerfully with a curtsey added to her greeting.

"Hello I'm Virgil, and you are," He said without thinking instantly cringing at his words. 'She already knows who you are you idiot' he yelled internally at himself.

"Wendy, pleasure to meet you!" She said way too cheerfully for Virgil's liking but he still faked a smile for her.

"Nice to meet you as well Wendy," Virgil continued with a small fake smile.

"Vigil dearest, why don't you take Wendy to your room and chat?" Queen Dalila offered wanting her son to be more comfortable while taking to Wendy.

"Yes mother," He replied leading the petite girl towards his room.

Once they opened the door she began to gaze around his darkly decorated room. All of the walls were dark enough to be considered black with the only light coming from the windows that were semi-covered by the purple curtains. His room was almost entirely black but with accents of silver and purple here and there.

"Your room is very... Unique," Wendy "complemented" behind her obviously fake smile. Virgil only responded with a hum and tried to find something to do other than talking to her.

"So what do you like doing?" She asked trying to make it seem as if she was really interested. But Virgil's wall didn't fall and he just ignored her instead focused on a small doodle he was working on. Soon enough Wendy was tired of the silence and began to speak.

"Well I like shopping, going out with friends, and fashion." She said as if any part of her boring sentence would catch the boy's attention. Lucky for her it sort of did.

"Who's your favorite designer?" He asked still shading in his small sketch.

"Ooh! I am totally in love with Madame Jaquelin's newest line! I've got almost every piece in my wardrobe at home," She exclaimed excitedly happy to talk about something instead of the prior silence.

"Oh, well good for you I guess," Virgil responded not really caring anymore. I mean what was there to care about? She wasn't all that different from any girl you found on the streets. Most that say they liked fashion went with Madame Jaquelin, so it gets kind of boring when you want to discuss someone other than who's most popular. Actually the only person that Virgil's met that hasn't said Madame Jaquelin was Remy, it's one of the reasons Virgil enjoys to be around him.

The rest of the time followed the same pattern of silence, Wendy saying something, Virgil making effortless comments, and more silence until Wendy had to leave.

Virgil and his parents stood at the door ready to see Wendy's family off.

"Farewell, until we meet again," Queen Dalila said and sent them off with a smile and a wave.

Once the door closed and they were done saying their goodbyes Queen Dalila turned towards her son.

"Virgil darling how'd it go, did you and Wendy bond?" She asked silently wishing to hear a yes.

"I'm not sure mother. I don't think have much in common, but I think we get along fine." He lied trying not to disappoint his mother while also trying not to raise her hopes up.

She gave him a small sympathetic smile, "Virgie if you don't like her you could just tell me."

He instantly shook his head no and looked back to her, "You've already put so much work into this I'm not letting it be for nothing. There isn't anything wrong with her we just didn't click well on the first meeting, I mean you know how defensive I can be towards new people. It just might take a few more encounters to get myself situated." Even if he could never love Wendy, he was doing this for his mother and his kingdom, nothing else.

"That's good, you might want to go change out of those nicer clothes into something less formal for the tradition. Wouldn't want to ruin all of Remington's hard work." She suggested with a smile.

Virgil quickly nodded and began walking back to his room, head swirling thinking about what the tradition could be.

Welcome to the end of the next chapter.
I hope you enjoyed!
