Chapter 19
Urainia spotted another rabbit dumpling hopping through the strange, feathery grass. She followed it, and caught it in a forest that looked like giant rainbow poppies with woody stems.
"Got you! Is your home nearby?"
The creature trembled in her embrace, and Urainia put it back down.
She saw a spear pointed at her side. It was held by a strange, insectoid creature with a pinkish tone to its exoskeleton. She kind of looked the most like an ant mixed with a ladybug. She was afraid of Urainia, flinching whenever Urainia made a slight movement.
Urainia couldn't pick up on the pheromones she was emitting, so she thought she was mute.
She backed away from the spear, slowly. "I'm going to leave, alright? I don't want to hurt you."
Urainia turned around and ran out of the forest.
The insectoid ordered the rest of her hunting party to follow Urainia.
Urainia looked behind to see 5 insectoids.
"Why are you here? Did I do something wrong?"
Umbrum's meeting was interrupted by the sound of Urainia screaming.
He panicked. "Where's Urainia?'
"The last person who saw her was Astera, but the sound came from the direction of the nearby forest."
"Let's go. We can discuss the applications of stardust later."
Urainia manipulated the gravity of the Moon, pushing her attacker away. She had gotten a slice on her ribs and forearm, but they weren't serious. From what she understood, the bugs were trying to restrain her and take her to who-knows-where, which was why her injuries were mild.
The moon-bugs were fast, but they were dependent on the low gravity. They were powerless if they were either floating miles above the ground, or stuck to it, too heavy to get up.
With all the hunters incapitated, Urainia ran to find a friendly face.
"Umbrum! Astera!"
She turned to find Umbrum. Before he could speak, she ran over to hug him.
Umbrum hugged her back, noticing the light injuries.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, but it still kind of stings."
So that's how injuries work for Urainia, a sting.
He brushed her bangs from her face. "That's good. I think you should go. Clearly, this place isn't safe."
"Are you sure? I don't want to be separated from you."
"I'll be fine, Urainia. I just have some things to sort out here."
After looking to see if they had privacy, Urainia leaned in and kissed Umbrum. "Don't be long, alright?"
"I won't be."
Astera saw this.
