Part 4
Korra was loaded into the Satocopter, and flown to the local hospital. This would've been against Korra's wishes, had she been awake.
The next couple weeks, Asami looked at Korra from the doorway of a hospital room. Having Korra unconscious on the hospital bed, most of her body wrapped in medical gauze, was a really hard sight for anyone to see, but that was especially true for Asami. After a few days of there being no sign of the leader waking up, she did. There was no warning, nothing could've predicted that she would wake up that day. Korra, of course, thought that everything was fine. Surely not knowing her condition, she started to sit up.
"Good luck on your- Asami, Korra's moving," Bolin said, previously talking about Asami's company as they watched over Korra from the side of the room. Usually, Asami would have stayed calm in this situation, but she couldn't contain herself. "You can go see her," Bolin smiled. She ran to Korra's side, hugging the girl tightly while also making her lay back down again.
"Fu-," Korra started to say before actually opening her eyes, looking around. Overly excited was an understatement when you had to describe Asami in this moment. Running one hand through Korra's hair, she held her close.
"Everything okay?" Korra chuckled softly, looking at Asami. Very slowly, Asami nodded. Everything was just perfect when Korra was okay. "Right," she smiled, hugging the girl. "You were waiting here since I got here, weren't you?" Korra questioned with a smile, tilting her head at the dark haired beauty as she looked around the room.
Asami nodded and simply hugged the injured girl, smiling to herself and even letting a few tears slip from her eyes. "I can't believe you're awake," she said, holding onto Korra tightly.
Korra herself sighed, leaning her head back and wrapping her arms around Asami, closing her eyes. "How long was I out for?" She asked, pulling the non-bender onto the bed. The action was hard for Korra, and it brought every wound that she had acquired back to a dull sting, since they had closed slightly over time.
"About two weeks," Asami said, sitting up a little and straddling Korra's waist. "I'm honestly just glad that you're awake," she said, nuzzling Korra's face happily. "You probably shouldn't be moving too much, the nurses and doctors don't know you're awake," she said, frowning now. Asami was worried for Korra. The girl had been through a lot in her life, and with this happening, especially after everything that had happened to her as a child, it could ruin her pride and happiness.
"Asami?" Korra asked, which seemed like the twentieth time she had said her name. Asami had dozed off, and Korra had noticed her blank stare.
"Oh, sorry," the raven-haired girl said, looking back down at Korra with a small smile. "You get to sleep, actual sleep," Asami hummed as she got off the bed, and Korra. "I'll be right back, I'm just going to get a nurse for you," she said, leaving the room with a bit of pep in her step.
Bolin looked at Korra, walking up to the bed. "You've missed a lot," he said, kneeling next to the bed.
"Why am I not in the Mafia Medical ward?" Korra asked, her expression turned stone cold.
"Asami insisted. You know we can't say no to her, and we weren't sure we had everything we needed to fix you at the rate this place has," Bolin ushered, knowing Korra was a little irritated. "But Asami is right. You need to rest. Mako and I have been running the show so far, but everyone is worried. You've got a bunch of flowers and gifts in front of your office door waiting for you for when you come back. Just take your time," he said, standing and putting his hand on Korra's wrapped hand. "And don't worry. We'll check for animals, and I'll ask Asami if she wants to keep any."
"Just no huge dogs," Korra warned, still having a fear of them.
"No huge dogs," Bolin promised, smiling and ruffling Korra's hair. "I have to head back, but I'll see you later," he said, turning and walking to the door.
"Bolin," Korra called, making the young man stop in his tracks. "Thank you," She said, and he smiled as he left the room. Korra let out a sigh as she laid her head back against the pillow behind her, closing her eyes and trying to sense any horrific abnormalities with her body. Everything just seemed sore, and Korra was thankful for that.
After a few minutes, Asami returned with a nurse, who came into a room with a sleeping Korra. "She must've... fallen asleep," Asami said, walking to the bed and sitting in a chair that had been set next to it. She put her hand on the girl's, and smiled gently at her girlfriend. "Good," Asami hummed, setting her head on Korra's bicep before closing her own eyes and falling asleep.
