"Serena lunch is ready."
As soon as I say that Serena whips her head around and backs away from me.
I slowly walk up to her side table and place the plate on it.
That's when I see what's in her grasp.
A knife.
Horror swept over my face.
"Serena, please don't."
I could feel tears ready to spill.
Serena's like a daughter to me and she made my son the happiest boy alive.
"I-I don't deserve t-to l-live."
I could hear fear in her voice.
"Serena, please don't leave me, you're like a daughter to me and I couldn't live without you."
She drops the knife and it bounces as it hits the floor.
I step closer and see that the knife has something red on it.
She didn't.
I see blood trickle down Serena's arm.
"Serena what did you do?!"
I rush up to her and wrap the towel I was holding around the gash in her shoulder.
The blood instantly fills the towel and turns it a crimson red.
I grab my phone and call the ambulance.

Ever since then Serena has been different.

End of flashback

(Ash's POV)

"So Serena tried to kill herself." I whisper, feeling tears spill down my cheeks. "I know it's hard to find that out Ash but please don't cry."
I feel her bring me into a hug.
"I just want to live a normal life with her." "You will Ash, she just needs to get over that evil."
I nod and return the hug.
"Now it's getting late, you should be getting to bed now." "Ok mom, night." "Night Hun."
I walk up the stairs, get changed and go to bed.
Why does my life have to be so bad.
All I want is to live a happy life with Serena.

I open my eyes and check the time.
It's already 11:34!
I need to go get Serena out of hospital!
I leap out of bed; get changed; have breakfast and rush out of the house.
I make it to the hospital in a few minutes and go to Serena's room.
I open the door to see her awake and eating some lunch.
"Hey Sere." I say. "Hi Ashy." She smiles largely at me.
I sit down in a chair beside her and she takes hold of my hand.
"I was lonely here last night." "Well I would've stayed if I was allowed, you know I would." "Yer I know, it's just this bed is so small and cold." "Well tonight you're be sleeping in our bed with me so you'll be lovely and warm."
She gives me a big smile then continues to eat her lunch.

A while later the doctor arrives.
"Hi Ash, hi Serena. I've come to show you Serena's wheelchair." "A wheelchair?!" I shout. "Yes, because Serena did large damage to her abdomen it'll be painful to move about a lot so she has to be in a wheelchair till the scar starts to heal." "Oh ok."
Several more doctors enter and help Serena into her wheelchair.
It was crushing for me to see Serena in such pain.
By the time she got in there and the doctors explained to me how to get her in and out of the wheelchair and such, it was already nearing three o'clock.
I wheel Serena out of the hospital and back home.
Once I open the door I wheel her to the spare room downstairs and help her get changed into her pyjamas.
Now I have to do the painful bit.
I slowly lift her out of the wheelchair and place her in the bed.
The whole time Serena was crying in pain.
I really don't know how I will survive this.
"I'm sorry Serena, maybe you should go back to hospital." "No please don't send me back Ash, I can live with this pain." "Ok Sere."
I get into my pyjamas and lay beside Serena.
"Night Sere." "Night Ashy."
