Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 4 | Tʜᴇ Dᴀᴛᴇ

"We have received a good proposal for you recently."

Did I just hear that my parents are planning for my wedding?

I think either I have heard it wrong or Mom thinks it's time for a joke. I laughed for a good minute, whereas no one else did, but I just couldn't help when Mom was saying things like this.

"Stop joking, mom. It's a pretty serious matter." I scowled at her.

"Kyra, your mom isn't joking. This is the truth. This is what we wanted you to tell you and were hesitant about." Dad said, looking serious as ever.

"What are you saying, Dad? How can you let such things happen without my consent?" I shouted.

"Calm down, Kyra." Mom said.

"Calm down? You are telling me to calm down when you people are dropping such serious matter suddenly with no hesitation?" I asked furiously.

Marriage is such a big thing for me. Since my childhood, I've always been a person who just cares about herself and the family to an extent. I can never think of me getting married to a person who I don't know and will have to spend my life with. This isn't me at all.

"There's no pressure for you. Just meet the guy once, and if you like him, then it's alright, and if not, then we'll see what can we do." Dad replied calmly.

"Is this what 20th century? Arranged marriages are not a thing anymore. There is never compatibility in such cases." I huffed.

"Kyra, you can go ahead for the date and ask him yourself what his plans are or how he is. But for that you need to meet him first rather than make opinions already." Mom replied, trying to calm me down.

"I guess I should just go for it. By the way, what's his name?" I asked, blinking my eyes.

"You'll get your answers soon. He's coming to pick you up at 8 in the evening to take you out on a date. You can ask him whatever you want." Mom replied.

"Wow! Now I have to work according to him already. And how can he decide this without my permission?" I questioned them.

"Kyra, stop being a baby. Go get ready for your date. Only 2 hours are left." Dhruv said.

"I am not, and it's not like I have another option." I muttered

Date? Seriously? Basically, it's with a guy whom I haven't met my whole life. How could Mom and Dad even agree to this?

"What did you say, young girl?" Mom asked suspiciously.

"Ah, nothing. I was deciding what to wear." I smiled sheepishly.

Mom gets scary at times.

After taking a long, soothing shower, I was out of the bathroom standing in my closet, deciding what to wear. How should I dress as? I don't even know how he looks for the love of god.

Giving a pause to my internal battle, I decided on an elegant black dress. A black outfit can never go wrong. I decided to leave my hair in natural beach waves that went along with my outfit that I had paired with a black and golden handbag. Did some minimal makeup and was ready.

Moving downstairs, I heard some muffled noises of someone talking. Deciding to check who it is, I went towards that direction.

"I understand Arjun how much important is this for you. " I heard Mom say.

"But I don't think Kyra will agree. I know it's not even her mistake in this. We ourselves have taught them to choose their life partners wisely on their own, and here we are trying to get her into an arranged marriage." Dad's voice reached up my ears.

"But Kyra is not at fault here. How can you expect her to give in on such short notice? She's been like this since childhood. Just caring about her happiness, enjoying anyway possible, and never serious about these things." Mom said.

I suddenly felt a pang of guilt in my heart. How could I be so much naive at that point. How could I give in so easily to him? Even Dhruv supported me, but how could I lie to my parents?

"I know, but I can't imagine how the situation might be if Kyra denies. A lot is on stake, including my projects and my friendship with Kartik." Dad's voice came.

"We just have to wait what Kyra decides after this date." Mom replied.

I finally decided to let them know my presence and went towards them. I have to make them happy.

"Evening Mom and Dad!" I said.

"Good evening, Kyra." Dad replied, smiling.

"Look at you. You're looking absolutely stunning, darling." Mom cooed at me.

"Thank you, Mom." I replied, smiling.

"Why do we have a witch in our house?" Dhruv shrieked at me.

"God, not again, you. Why can't you ever compliment me?" I whined at him.

"Because you never look good to be complimented." Dhruv replied, casually shrugging his shoulders.

"Oh, that's why I've got a proposal even before you. Bro, you need to accept the fact that no girl is going to ever like you. Just forget the love part." I replied cockily.

"That's not true. I've got a pretty good number of girls after me." He replied, glaring at me.

"Yeah, yeah. Lie all you want." I replied.

"Okay, that's enough, you two. Kyra now listen you'll be going to 'The Shizzle' for your date. He just informed me that he can not pick you up. Just tell the service that you are meeting Mr. Kapoor, and they'll escort you." Dad said.

"A very good first impression, I see." I huffed.

"Stop it, Kyra. At least go and meet him and see how it goes. You can not make an opinion this soon." Mom scolded me lightly.

I know they are acting casually in front of me regarding the situation, but I know them too very well.
They must be too tensed about this and hearing their conversation, I am sure of it.

"She's right, Kyra. Now go it's already 7:45 and you'll take good 30 minutes and a few dents and accidents to reach your driving skills." Dhruv said.

"Just shut up, Dhruv." I glared at him.

After deciding to drive to the restaurant in Dhruv's favorite car just to annoy him, I began the journey. I think I should just scratch it if possible. It'll make him never argue with me again.

Shortly after 30 minutes, I reached my destination and decided to go in. Looking at the restaurant, the first thing that my eyes caught was how luxurious and expensive it was. He really has a good amount of money. Obviously, if his Dad does business with my Dad.

Thinking about various circumstances, I don't know why, but suddenly, I am not feeling well. I have no idea if this is nervousness or if something bad is going to happen. I think I should just go back, but it was too late.

The valet that was waiting for me to hand him over the keys for the past 5 minutes irritatedly took the car, and I was left with the only option to go in there. I think I should just complain about their service. Couldn't he just wait for about 2 more hours? Entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a lady who seemed manager.

"Good evening, Ma'am! Welcome to The Shizzle. Do we have a reservation here?" She asked politely.

"Yes, I do. It's under the name Mr. Kapoor." I replied, smiling.

"Sure, Ma'am. Just follow me, please." She said.

After this, she led me to the restaurant, but we just didn't stop here. She took me further to a secluded corner, which looked like a private booth. Inside I saw that there was a table where 2 chairs sat opposite to each other empty. Oh, I see he hasn't arrived yet. I decided to sit in one the chair and the manager told me that the waiter would be here shortly.

The nerve of this guy! He didn't even pick me up, and now he's 20 minutes late for the date. I have no idea how this date is going to go. I just hope he'll agree to all the conditions I have for this marriage.

My chain of thoughts got broken by someone clearing his throat

"Yes?" I asked the person standing beside the table.

"Good evening, Ma'am. I am your waiter for today. I just asked you if you would like to have something?" He asked, eying my outfit.

I started to feel uncomfortable around him. And me being alone here didn't make it any easy.

"No. I'll just wait for my date to arrive." I replied curtly.

Date? Why did I say that?

"No need. I am already here." Someone's voice was heard.

I think I recognize this voice. Thinking deeply in my mind, I finally recognized this as his voice. What the fuck is he doing here? Is he following me or something? The last thing I wanted to do something was related to him. My luck though.

I looked behind the waiter and indeed I was correct. He was walking towards me in his full glory dressed in a black pants and black shirt underneath a black coat. All black like his soul. A heart melting smile plastered on his face that could make fall any girl for him, but not me this time.

This is the moment I dreaded for the past 8 years. What'll happen when we'll come face to face with each other again after what happened?

"You can leave for now. We'll call you later." He said in a hard voice the waiter who gulped in fear and scurried away this instant.

"Hey!" He said sitting on the chair opposite to him.

I looked at him shocked with my mouth agape.

"Close you mouth darling. We don't want you to catch flies now do we?" He said smirking at me.

He even has the audacity to smirk now?

Instantly closing my mouth I thought how can he behave so casually with me after what all he has done.

"What do you think you're doing here? This chair is for the person I am having my date with. Leave now!" I said glaring at him to not show any void of emotion. I didn't want to make him see me as a weak person again. And I certainly don't want to be in his presence again.

"Leave now!" She said glaring at me.

I can clearly say she really does hate and despise me now. Not even a single 'hi' and immediately telling me to leave. I hope this changes soon. I am here to make her mine. And I wish this hate will end soon.

"You don't have any idea now do you?" I asked smiling at her.

"You bastard! How dare you even come to me like this after what all has happened?" She shouted at me.

"Relax Ky. Just listen to me." I replied in a calm tone.

"Shut up! I am not waiting for anymore second now. If you are not leaving then I will. Screw this date." She said standing up while picking up her bag hastily.

"You won't finish the date for the proposal you are here for?" I asked when she was about to teach the door of private booth.

She was stunned by my words. Shocked by the fact I know she turned around and came towards. I knew she would come back to me for finding answers. Experience I have to say.

"How do you even know about this?" She asked shock still evident on her face.

"Well you see the person whose proposal is at your doorstep is actually me." I replied.

"What?" She asked as her eyes widened and mouth dropped open.

"Yes Ky. Now come sit here. We have a lot to catch up." I replied gesturing for her to sit.

"We have nothing to catch up. And if you really think that we are going to accept this proposal then you are absolutely wrong. This wedding is never going to happen." She said folding her arms across her chest.

"Yes it is going to happen. Don't you know how important this is for your father. He trusts nobody except me for his daughter. " I replied calmly.

"Well if I will tell him to not go ahead with this wedding, then he won't." She said in a determined tone.

"Okay. So you're going to disappoint them for some petty reasons?." I asked her.

"My reasons are not bloody petty reasons. You are asking me to get married to you. After all what you have done you have the decency to ask me this?" She shouted glaring at me.

"Don't you remember you were the only one who wanted to marry me? Don't you? I promised you we will. See I am here now." I spoke.

"That was almost eight years ago you asshole. And if you remeber this don't you remember the other promises you made?" She again raised her voice, pointing a finger at me accusingly.

"Oh wait. Why am I even wasting my time on this. You clearly don't care. And never cared." She replied with venom dripping in her voice and this made me feel even more guilty.

"Don't Kyra. You have no idea how much I cared. Don't ever question my love for you." I replied sternly.

Never ever she should question my love for her.

"Love? Seriously love? When did you ever love me. If you had you would have never left me." She replied and I knew she was on the verge of crying.

Seeing her like this broke my heart. This is all my fault. I should have never done that. I really have to make up to her. But she's not even listening to me. She has become really stubborn. And she's not even at fault here for being one.

"We'll discuss our problems later. For now, let's enjoy the moment." I said pointing to the direction of empty chair.

"There's no later Ahaan. I really don't want to see your face again. Goodbye." She said and I knew how badly she was trying to control her tears.

Saying this she went outside and here I was alone mourning the fact that she doesn't even want to be near me anymore. I really need to do something otherwise I'll lose her forever.

I just hope Kyra is okay. Seeing her like this I just wanted her to hold in my arms and tell her that everything will be fine soon. How we will stay for hours listening to each others heartbeat like we used to do before. I love her so much that she doesn't even have an idea about it. What am I going to do without her?

Thoughts on Ahaan? Should they get married or not?
