Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 31 | Tʜᴇ Dᴇsᴏʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴ

Flashback:

She was the most unexpected gift of a lifetime. I look at her, and I know I'll never love anything more. And in a thousand lifetime, I could've never imagined this, but I am blessed to have this.

She was the love that came without a warning, and she had my heart before I could say no.

Everything happened all of a sudden, and I am thankful I didn't give up.

But I have this guilt feeling in my heart because, unknown to her, this relationship was based on half lies. Kyra was the person who bewitched my heart in our first meeting itself. Ahaan Kapoor, who was the arrogant teen, was smitten by a girl. And I didn't stop her at any point because she'd already made this place in my heart.

I knew there was something special between us, but I wasn't sure about myself. When we kissed in the abandoned building, I felt this weird feeling, which I hadn't experienced before. It was good at the same time, but when she ran away from me, I was angry at myself that I got carried away. It was too soon for us for things like this.

Behaving normal with her was the best option as I had no intentions to lose her. The fact that she was back to her normal self was the best part. I could enjoy the time with her and clear my mind as well.

Not even a year had passed after our first encounter when I heard my classmates talking about how good of a pair Aarav and Kyra make and how he's going to propose to her soon. I had always been a tad bit skeptical about Aarav with the comfortableness he has for Kyra and vice-versa and the looks he gives to her. But I was just a friend of hers while he was her best friend since childhood. Hearing this, a lot of things rounded in my mind as I didn't want to lose Kyra, and the fact they both were so close wasn't helping either.

I knew I felt something towards her, but I wasn't a hundred percent sure that I could propose to her about being my girlfriend. But hearing those words about Kyra and Aarav got me thinking that I might lose Kyra and the chance of being with her forever. So, I decided to propose to her on the best upcoming day.

The moment she said 'yes' was certainly the best moment of my life till then. I remember I said 'I like you' instead of 'I love you', but she replied the same, making me relieved. And our time after that proposal was the best time of my life. We used to enjoy so much in each other's company and the fact we got closer each passing day did reduce my guilt, but I'd made up my mind two years later that I'll explain to her everything. A relationship should never be based on lies no matter I'd started loving her months later to our relationship.

She'd texted me asking where I was, but I was with my mother, so I didn't reply to her, considering the fact she might catch me. The last thing I needed was her to know that I was in a relationship. My escapades from last school were enough to bridge a gap between us. In between, I quickly made an escape with an excuse of washroom to meet her.

As I had already seen Kyra's message informing me that she was in the playground, I quickly made my way there.

I frowned in confusion as my eyes fell on Aarav and Kyra sitting in the most secluded area, as if hiding behind the rocks. I was confused to no bounds and quickly made my way towards them only to see Aarav holding her hands in a way that seemed very intimate, sitting beside her and saying things that I couldn't believe.

"Kyra, there are times when we need to talk, yet the words never come. There are also times when we need to understand each other and we try our best. There are times that lead us to wonder what the other one is thinking or feeling. You make me happier than I ever thought I could be. I never thought this would happen. I tried to control myself, but it never happened even though I knew how wrong it was. I never realized when my life and feelings brought me here when there's no point in my day when I actually didn't think about you. You were always a part of my life as a best friend, but I feel like making it something more special and something more intimate. I believe we can get through this if only we open up with each other to give. I will even spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way, so what's say? Will you give this idiot a chance?" I heard him say, and my eyes were raging in anger by then.

I was seconds away from going to him and punching him right there on his face when the thing that happened next shook me to the core, breaking my heart, which was least expected.

She said yes in response!

That bastard who I was not so sure about since the beginning, had now played his cards knowing the fact Kyra and I are together. Somewhere I would always believe that Aarav wasn't too happy about the fact that Kyra and I are in a relationship, but I never thought he would stoop so low, proposing her when she's already in a relationship.

And what Kyra did didn't anger me for the moment. I felt betrayed from her side. Why did she accept his proposal when she already has me?

"See, I already knew it that Aarav likes or should I say loves Kyra. I don't know why they waited for so long to end up together." I heard a voice, and my head snapped in the same direction.

"Hmm. I heard a rumor that Ahaan and her are in a relationship, but I guess it was just to make Aarav jealous." Another girl said, agreeing with the first one.

My fists were clenched in anger hearing their words.

"Obviously. It was very clear from Aarav's side that he loves her. And don't they look good together?" A third voice said.

"Ahaan was basically played by Kyra. The guy was head over heels for her, and for her, just an object to get Aarav's attention." Someone commented.

"Guys, I know what happened. For many years, it was evident how Aarav and Kyra seemed the perfect couple, although they never confessed tagging it as friendship. But as soon as Ahaan made his entry and showed his likeness towards Kyra, she took the benefit from the situation. She knew Aarav would slip from her hands seeing his flirty nature, so she took advantage of Ahaan. She got in a relationship with him just to make him jealous and make Aarav realize her worth so, maybe at a point he proposes to her. And look, the same happened after a year and a half, and she instantly agreed. This shows how much she loves him. Aarav and Kyra have got their happiness, but Ahaan here has been played. Played well by the sweet, innocent Kyra." Another voice said.

My eyes were raging in anger, and I knew my face portrayed it very well, so I turned back to the school building and got inside, walking directly to the office where Mom was waiting for me.

All I ever wanted was to be her everything. I wanted someone who chooses me every day even when knowing I'm hard to deal with. I had never felt for anyone the way I did for her and thought I've got everything in my life. But how wrong I was when I got to know that I was basically an object for her to play with. It's like I feel unwanted by the person who I want the most.

I got hurt by the person I shared my pain with. Almost a couple of days had passed, and I had successfully ignored her. She texted me ample of times asking my whereabouts and even called me, but I didn't respond for once.

Today, I couldn't ignore it anymore as we had our farewell. I was going, and I knew she was too. So I went to the school driving myself.

These two days, I barely slept because the scene and the words kept rotating in my mind. I wouldn't lie, but even a tear escaped my eye remembering our moments, which I now know won't happen again.

As I got inside, there were already a lot of students who were having the best time of their lives. I didn't see Kyra till now, so I went to the corner where there wasn't anybody. This is what I'd been doing these days. Back to myself, where the outer world didn't matter to me.

Another 10 minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder to see a grinning Sarah. I smiled back at her because I knew she was nowhere responsible for what happened. I honestly treated her as a sister.

"Why are you sitting here in the corner looking so gloomy?" She asked in confusion.

"Ahh- it's nothing." I tried my best to dismiss the topic.

"Okay. Then let's go to Kyra. She has been so restless these couple of days, I tell you." She laughed, pulling me.

"Sarah- I- " My excuses went in vain as she didn't listen to me and kept dragging towards a certain direction.

And then my gaze landed on the only person who had bewitched my heart only to crumble it down by playing with it. She had this bright smile placed on her lips as soon as her gaze landed on me, but I couldn't just smile back. Her smile faltered for a moment, but as we both reached to her, she engulfed me in a hug, but I didn't hug her back.

I wanted to comfort her and feel her presence, but every time, the scene would display in front of my eyes. How hard it is to know that the person you love loves someone else.

"Ahaan! How have you been? I called and tried to reach you so many times, but you never replied. Not for once." I heard her say and there right itself. I wanted to ask her why she did this and even was ready to forgive, but I still didn't open my mouth.

"Guys, you can talk later. We are here for the farewell, not your romantic talks." Sarah said, and I mentally thanked her.

For a couple of hours, we mingled with everyone. The fact that Sarah was with us the whole time was relaxing as I didn't know what to even talk with her. I could tell that Kyra sensed my behavior as her face displayed the confusion real well. The whole time, I had a straight face and didn't smile or reply to her once.

"I missed you, Ahaan!" She told me in between.

I wanted to hold her in my arms like I always do and keep talking to her, but I just couldn't. My anger overpowered me, and how could I have been played by Kyra?

Soon, the farewell came to an end, and I was relieved as I wouldn't have to talk to Kyra anymore. Dhruv had come to pick both of them, but what happened was unexpected.

"You can take Sarah with you. I need to spend some time with Ahaan." She said to Dhruv, shocking me.

"Yeah, okay. Just drop her home safely, Ahaan." Dhruv said, turning to me, and I couldn't help but nod my head.

Soon, Dhruv and Sarah exited the school building while Kyra was standing beside me the whole time. No words have been exchanged between us, unlike the other times when we wouldn't stop talking.

"Ahaan, what happened? Why are you s7o quiet today?" She asked all of a sudden.

"Why don't we go somewhere else?" I asked with a straight face, gesturing to the almost empty school building.

"Sure." She shrugged.

I drove both of us to a random place in between our homes. The road was almost abandoned. A few shops could be seen, but they were closed for the moment.

We both stepped out of the car and stood in front of the bonnet. There was an eerie silence for a couple of minutes. Th only voice that could be heard was of our faint breathing.

"Ahaan? Why are you behaving this way? Have I done something wrong? I yes, then I am sorry -" She started, but I cut her off right there.

"What do you mean you're sorry? You're sorry you broke me? You're sorry you broke my trust? Or are you sorry for playing me the whole time? What are you sorry for exactly because saying those words now won't change anything. This can't fix anything because you have decided to leave me, which has completely shattered me. I have to pick myself up and you'll be busy with another guy. So, don't say sorry because this sorry won't really change anything." I shouted in frustration.

"Ahaan, what are you talking about? Wh-" She was frowning at me, looking confused as ever, and this made my blood boil even more.

"You know what, basically I don't even know why I am trying to explain you things because I don't even know why I am upset anymore. I've tried being nice, but it just didn't work with you, I guess. You don't give a fuck about anyone, but yourself. A bloody selfish woman. I deserve someone who is actually going to tell me I am important in their life and appreciate everything I do for them." I yelled at her, and by now, tears were flowing out of her eyes.

"I wish I could just go back to the day I met you and change whatever I did that led to this because honestly, it would've saved so much pain that I felt." I said in a low voice.

"What the hell are you talking about, Ahaan? Do you even know what you're saying? Stop saying this -" She cried, but I stopped her again.

"You know what, it's not only me who has been played. It's you as well. The time when I proposed to you, I didn't even like or loved you enough to make you my girlfriend. I just did it because I didn't want you to end up with Aarav, and the same thing happened. All that I said were lies that day, Kyra." I said with a smirk.

"Please tell me you're joking, Ahaan. This is some sort of prank, right?" She said, touching my forearm while tears flew out of her eyes.

"No darling, this is not a prank. All of this has been caused by you. Only you." I said.

"Ahaan, at least tell me know the reason why you're behaving this way." She cried, getting closer to me.

"Stay away, Kyra. I might do something stupid, and this time, I don't want to open up to you because I am really tired of getting close to people and watching them leave me like I am nothing." I warned, pushing her slightly.

"You already have found your true love no matter I got broken because of it. You always say you love me right, but guess what, your love for me was just a game. You played me like an object, and I believed you the whole time. What an actor you are. This innocence and all, just an act to play with my feelings." I spat looking at her with bloodshot eyes.

"There's only a limit I can hold up onto before giving up, and guess what, I am because I know nothing will come back anyways like before. I tried giving you my best, but it just wasn't enough. And remember that the next time you miss me or our moments, and you're fucking sad just remember everything that has happened is all your fault and it has made me fucking hate you." I yelled at the end with a hard glare.

"It's impossible to imagine myself without you, but I hate liars and people who take advantage of people who genuinely care about them just like you did with me." I spat looking at her with venom.

"You don't hate me. Tell me it's a lie." She shouted this time.

"Oh, but I do. I hate you with everything within me, Miss Kyra Malhotra. I wish I'll never meet you again and remember, karma will break you the same way you broke me with the lies." I shouted, opening the door to my car.

"Don't leave me, Ahaan. How am -" She shouted, but I stopped her again.

"Don't even dare to tell me what to do Kyra Malhotra. You are no one to me that I'll listen to you. Get back home however you like or even better call your so-called lover." I said with a hard voice.

"Wait!" I heard her shout again, making me stop dead in my tracks.

"Just remember this Ahaan, one day, you'll wake up and realize what happened to the girl who was there for you no matter if you pushed her away. You'll remember what all I have done for you and the pain you put me through in return. You'll realize how important I was for you and how amazing I was with you. And last, but not least, you'll realize how much I loved you with everything inside of me. But that day will be too late to repent everything because I'll be hating you by then for all the destruction caused, reason unknown to me even now." She shouted, crying hysterically, and my heart skipped a beat right there.

"There will be nothing to repent." I replied in a hard voice, getting inside my car, and I slammed the door close the next moment.

Without even glancing at her for the last time, I quickly ignited the engine of my car and took a U turn, speeding back to the way of my house.

The whole way, I drove rashly and without even realizing I'd by now reached my home, but I still didn't get inside. My whole posture was showing my anger, and I couldn't get inside this way. Just then, I heard my phone ringing, and I declined the call without even glancing at the caller ID.

The very next moment, it rang again, and I picked it up in frustration.

"What?" I shouted.

"Ahaan-" She cried.

Flashback ends.

What has Ahaan done😭 and who do you think has called him?
