Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 22 | Tʜᴇ Tʀᴀɴǫᴜɪʟʟɪᴛʏ
It was around 8 in the morning and currently I was sprawled out on the bed.
The wedding ended around 4 in the morning with me dozing off every second. Mom had sent me back to the room to get some rest and get ready for the flight back to Delhi which I was really grateful for.
No matter how hard I was trying to sleep, but it was like it had broken off his relations with me. All I could think about continuously was our marriage. It's done. I can only go ahead with it wherever it takes me. I don't know the reasons due to which he did this, and I am not even planning to get to know them because I know it'll only cause me trouble.
"What the heck? I am literally married to my ex." I murmured, burying my face in the pillow.
"Kyra." I heard a deep voice and immediately my head snapped up as I recognized it as Ahaan's.
There he was, standing, dressed in a white shirt and dark grey pants with a silver watch on his left wrist. A small smile was on his face with the 5 o'clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.
I cleared my throat at the irrational thoughts.
'But he's my husband after all.' My subconscious voiced out.
"How did you enter?" Was the first thing I asked him.
He chuckled lightly and replied, "I asked Dhruv for the key card of your room."
I nodded my head in understanding and sat upright on the plush bed. The itch on my hands due to the bangles was bugging me so I tried to smother it down but all went in vain.
"May I?" Ahaan questioned and I noticed he was sitting just beside me on the bed this time.
The close proximity of us was making me feel weird things, and it wasn't uncomfortable at all. It felt all natural and I was scared of it.
I nodded and hesitantly forwarded my hands on his which were taken out for mine. His big calloused hand was covering my small, bangles clad ones. I don't know how, but he did some wonders with his fingers that subsided the itchiness completely.
I smiled happily at the comfort and I noticed he still didn't left my hands.
"Ahaan, I am good now." I muttered trying to pull my hands back.
"I know. I am trying to find my name on your hands. Just try to keep them straight." He replied taking my hands in his' again and placed them on his thigh.
"How can you be so sure that I got your name written?" I questioned with raised eyebrows.
"I just know it." Came his reply.
For a minute he kept gazing on both of my hands intently without even blinking twice.
"Found it." He then exclaimed with a victorious smirk.
I let out a whine and he just chuckled. I had no idea that he would find out this soon. According to me the artist had done such an amazing job hiding it, but he still found it.
"Where is it?" I questioned just for confirmation.
"Here." He pointed out to the side of my right palm where his name was written and hidden in the best way possible.
"You are ready right? We need to leave for airport soon." He said after sometime.
"I am." I replied while looking at him.
"Kyra, you don't hate me for this right?" He questioned looking at me directly in the eyes.
"Hate is a very strong word Ahaan." I said in a low tone.
"You still didn't answer my question." He said, placing a strand of loose hair behind my ear and I shivered inwardly.
"No, I don't." I replied and I heard him sigh in relief.
"Don't we need to leave?" I asked after minutes of comfortable silence.
He nodded in affirmative and stood up, forwarding his hand for me to take. I placed my hand on his and he pulled me from the bed towards him. As his phone started ringing, I took this chance to wear my heels and removed my hand from his grip. He raised his eyebrows in questioning, still talking to the person on the other side of the call and I pointed my fingers to my bare feet. He nodded and continued talking with whosover it was and I finalized my look in the meantime.
"Let's go." I said and he pulled me by my waist causing a shriek to come out of my mouth.
I was trying so hard to match his pace with the long strides he was taking but it nearly seemed impossible with my heels. I was then about to trip but a firm hold on my waist prevented me from it.
"Are you alright?" He questioned concern evident on his face.
"Yeah. Just walk a little slower." I replied, clearly embarrassed.
He nodded and we continued walking towards the elevator, this time a little slower. As we stepped into the elevator, I pressed the ground floor button because one of his hand busy with the cell phone as he was still on a conversation with someone and the other one on my waist which seemed it wouldn't get off any soon. We were standing beside each other and I glanced at Ahaan who was still busy with someone.
"No! I don't give a fuck. If I have told you to cancel the meeting, then it'll be cancelled whether important or not. Do not ever tell me what to do." He suddenly yelled with a cold look at the person on the other end making me shrink and take a step away from him. He looked really scary right now.
He glanced at me and his eyes turned soft as he mouthed 'sorry' to me and pulled me back closer by the waist. I am sure my eyes must be wide open making me look like a fool.
"Don't disturb me again." He growled and ended the call.
As I thought he was really angry at the moment, I didn't say a word and tried my best not to make any movement beside him. I wonder what will be his reaction. His behaviour and aura is so different when he's in business mode. The dominance, arrogance and boldness is so intimidating.
"There's no need to be so stiff Kyra. I am not mad at you." He said with a chuckle and I visibly relaxed.
As the elevator reached the ground floor, Ahaan bent down a little on my level and placed a chaste kiss on my forehead making me smile inwardly. We then exited the elevator and walked out in the main lobby of the massive hotel.
"It seems the newly weds can't get their hands off each other." Aarav commented causing everyone around us laugh. I blushed profusely while Ahaan was glaring at him. I tried taking a step away from him, but in return he only tightened his hold and looked at me with a pointed look.
I sighed in defeat.
"We should leave. The flight is in an hour."and Papa said and everyone agreed and started moving.

Sitting in the car with Ahaan on my left side, we were on our way to his parents mansion. My thoughts didn't even wander on the fact that I'll be living with him from now on. When Dad and Mom bid me final byes, I was confused for a second, but as Ahaan came and stood beside me, I understood what will happen from now on. His Dad, Mom and Aradhya were coming in a different one.
My head was placed on his broad shoulder and he had his arm around my waist. My eyes were shut and I couldn't wait any longer to sleep. I was so happy that we'll be travelling by his private jet from Goa to Delhi because I was so done with the continous banters, talks and murmurs around me. All I needed now was comfort.
"Kyra, we have reached. You need to get up." I heard Ahaan's voice making me open my eyes.
I nodded and straightened myself in the meantime the driver was parking the car in the driveway.
I didn't even get to know when Ahaan got out of the car and opened my side of the door, but I was so happy seeing his gentleman side.
"Thank you." I said with a smile which he returned.
He led me towards the main entrance of the mansion and my jaw dropped.
It was massive.
Reaching the main door of the mansion, I saw Ahaan's Mom, Aradhya and a few close relatives of them waiting for the arrival of new bride which is me.
We were made to stand beside each other on the doorway and Ma did some rituals.
As we finally entered the mansion, I sighed in relief. The environment was new for me and it was certainly a lot to take, but all I could care about at this moment was to take some rest.
"Ma, you're forgetting about the best ritual." Aradhya said excitedly and I frowned in confusion.
"No I didn't. I was waiting for now only." Ma replied with soft smile.
"What is it?" I questioned peeking interest.
"It's a game. Basically we are going to put a ring in a vessel filled with milk and you both have to find the ring. Whosover does it first will be the one to rule your relationship." Aradhya replied excited.
As Ahaan and I were made to sit beside each other on one of the many couches in the grand living room, Aradhya placed a big copper vessel which was filled with milk and rose petals in front of us.
"You can start." Ma said and instantly I put my right hand whereas Ahaan did the same.
Minutes had passed, but neither of us were able to catch hold of it.
"Did you even put the ring in here?" Ahaan questioned finally causing me to nod my head in agreement.
"Oops. Looks like I forgot to put the ring." Aradhya muttered sheepishly and gained a slap on the back of her head by Ma making all of us laugh.
As Aradhya dropped the ring in the vessel and stirred the milk, Ahaan smirked at me in challenge and I smirked back.
We both put our hand in it as soon as they declared and started searching like maniacs. He was looking at me time to time, but I was not getting distracted as I kept searching for it. I even pinched his hand, but it didn't even affect him as he continued smirking at me while finding the ring.
"I found it." He declared taking out his hand from the vessel.
"Ahh! It seems my boy is going to be the one ruling this relationship." His Aunt said and he smiled proudly.
I scoffed inwardly.
If he'll be in charge of things then I really wonder what all will happen in the future.
"My child, you're looking really tired. Just go and rest in your bedroom. I'll inform you when you've to get ready for the reception." Ma said patting my cheek lovingly and I smiled.
"Aradhya, go and show Kyra Ahaan's room." Mom said turning towards Aradhya.
I forgot the part where we'll have to share a room.
Aradhya happily obliged and led me to the grand staircase as Ahaan's room was on the first floor. After what seemed like forever with her showing me different things in the mansion on the way, we finally reached a massive door of a room which I assumed to be Ahaan's.
"Here we are." She declared dramatically making me chuckle.
Just because I know her from the past and I've seen his parents quite a few times before, I am not feeling too weird. I've heard that newly wedded woman feels awkward in a new home, surroundings and people. But in my case, I am feeling totally normal. And it's just because I always feel comfort around them.
"If you need anything, just call me okay? My room is three doors next to yours." She said and I nodded.
"Thanks." I replied with a smile.
As I entered pushing past the massive wooden door, my eyes directly went to the king sized bed in middle. The room's theme was grey and black and it was almost plain excluding a big painting and bookshelf. A flat TV screen was in front of the bed and two nightstands on either side of the bed were intact. Two doors could be seen which I assumed as the en-suite bathroom and closet.
Stepping in the room, I removed the dupatta of my suit and threw it in a random direction. Plopping down on the bed with my legs dangling on one side, I sighed in comfort and closed my eyes absorbing the feeling.
As I inhaled deeply, a whiff of strong cologne reached my nose which I recognized as my husband's and a smile crept up onto my face on it's own.
I didn't know when sleep caught me, but as I felt the bed dip beside me, I groggily opened my eyes just to see Ahaan laying down beside me in his casual clothes which made me think that I didn't even change my clothes. I felt heaviness on my legs and I noticed I didn't bother removing my heels as well. Sitting upright on the bed, I removed my heels and threw them beside the bed and laid down again. I felt two strong hands come up on my waist and pull me closer. Looking at him, I noticed his gaze was settled upon me as well and he had a blank face.
As I tried removing his hands he only tightened those in return and pulled me closer. Placing a kiss on my forehead he linked his fingers with mine making my heartbeat increase and I am sure he could hear those.
"Shh, just go to sleep." He mumbled with closed eyes and I placed my head on his hard chest.
Playing with my hairs with his fingers, he had his eyes closed and I knew he was tired as well.
Scurrying all the thoughts away, I shut my eyelids and placed my legs on top of his which got tangled between his and I smiled in comfort.
One question kept lingering in my mind 'Am I doing the right thing?'
