Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 21 | Tʜᴇ Rᴇᴠᴀᴍᴘɪɴɢ
My bridal party directed me to the stage. I could hear the faint music playing in the background. My one hand was clutching the skirt of my lehenga tightly, and the other was holding the dupatta that was draped over my head.
With my last step towards the stage, everyone stopped, and I felt someone's intimidating presence towering over me, and I didn't even have to lift my gaze to see who it was. The warmth that he radiates always drags me towards him, and this time, it wasn't any different. His hand was taken out for my support, I placed mine on top of it, and he gave me a dazzling smile.
Everyone around us was cheering for the couple, which certainly was us, and the youngsters were hooting loudly while teasing. A small blush crept up onto my cheeks, but I tried to cover it and succeeded.
Glancing at him, I noticed he was looking as handsome as ever. Dressed in a cream colored wedding attire, he was looking no less than an Indian prince.
"So goddamn beautiful." He murmured near my ears, and a shiver ran down my spine.
Nervously, I looked at everyone around us, but none of them even cared about the close proximity of us. Everyone had a smile on their faces, looking adoringly at us, causing me to blush again.
The place was so beautifully decorated with desi things and a priest already preparing the necessary items and was chanting mantras along with it.
Both Ahaan and I were made to sit beside each other on the small royal chairs placed in front of the holy fire. My parents sat on another set, which was adjacent to ours, while his sat opposite to them, and the rest of the close relatives and friends were scattered around.
The priest called out Dhruv as he was my brother and told him to tie a cloth with my dupatta and drape the rest on Ahaan's shoulder. He did as he was told and whispered something in Ahaan's ears with a pointed look. I guess he was warning him in the beginning itself.
I laughed internally.
Next, the priest told us to stand for exchanging garlands, and all of us stood up. He made me wear the one he was having with a smile. As I stood tip-toed for placing mine, his friends and cousins lifted him up on by his legs, and I frowned.
There was no way I could reach him, and soon my frown got replaced by a squeal, and I noticed Dhruv and Aarav lifting me up on the same level as his. I smirked triumphantly and placed the garland around his neck with everyone cheering in the background for us.
Later, he told us to stand for the seven rounds.
Never in these rounds, Ahaan's voice wavered for once. He was bold and promising in what he was saying as if to indicate to me that he would stand by them for me, for us. My heart was beating loudly the whole time, listening to him to vow for our relationship.
I breathed at last after taking the vows, which I have to compile the rest of my life with him by my side.
As we sat again, the priest handed the vermilion, and he took a pinch of it with his thumb and index finger and forwarded on towards the top of my forehead. As I felt him placing the vermilion on middle parting of hair, I closed my eyelids intaking a sharp breath and opened them again only to see Ahaan looking at me intently into my eyes with an emotion I couldn't decipher. For one moment, I thought he was regretting it, but my suspicions got cleared as he gave me his signature smirk, but with genuineness this time.
Next, he took the nuptial chain from the priest and placed it around my neck, releasing a heavy breath around there, causing me to shiver.
"The wedding is done." The priest declared, causing everyone around us to cheer and congratulate.
Flashback:
"Come on, Kyra, we need to reach the school by 6. It's 5:30 already." I heard Dhruv's voice from the living room.
Taking my sweet time, I got ready in a formal dress as it was our school's founder's day. Soon, we reached the school with Dhruv grumbling the whole way, and he went to his designated seat, whereas I began to find Sarah.
Almost every student was already there, meaning I was late. I spotted Sarah beside other girls of our class and went to her direction.
"You came. I thought you were going to bail on us." She said, hugging me, and I hugged her back.
"Nahh. I would never. It's just that Dhruv didn't get ready by the time, so I had to wait for him. It's a good thing it's his last year in school." I replied, and she looked like she didn't believe me, but I had already dragged her somewhere else.
I was currently walking back towards the auditorium from the washroom as the after-party was going on with full swing. A lot of students had already left after the performances, and now there were only a few who were left.
"Ahaan?" I questioned, turning around as someone held my wrist.
"Yeah, it's me. Come with me, I need to tell you something." He said impatiently.
"Say it then. Why do you need to take me somewhere?" I frowned in confusion.
"Don't question much. Just listen and come with me. I only need 10 minutes and then you can come back." He again said impatiently.
"Okay." I said defeatedly, and with this, he dragged me to the terrace of the school building.
As soon as we stepped on the terrace, a gasp came out of my mouth. There was no one other than us, and I stood by the railing's support. The night view of the areas surrounding our school in between the acres of forest was lit up due to the fairy lights for decorations. Faint talks and laughters could be heard from downstairs, but all that I could care about was the scene in front of me.
"Did you like it?" He questioned, breaking my trance.
"Absolutely." I whispered, still not tearing my gaze away from the scene.
"Kyra, I-I need to tell you something." He said hesitantly.
I gestured for him to continue and was still busy admiring the night.
"It's j-just tha-t-" He started.
"What is it that you need to tell me and are hesitating about?" I questioned, looking at him this time.
"I like you. No scratch that- I like you so fucking much." He blurted and then sighed.
"A-Ahaan? Are you in your senses? Do you even know what you're saying?" I stammered with my heart beating loudly.
He just said that he likes me.
"Yes Kyra. I know very well what I am saying. I like you for who you are. You are such a kind and amazing person. You make me feel incredible like no one has ever made me feel. I like how you have such a good heart and you treat people with kindness and respect unless they do something wrong. You are always happy and have this beautiful smile on your face. You mean a lot to me, so will you give me the chance to be the luckiest boyfriend on the earth?" By the end of the speech he was on his knees making me shocked to the core.
"Ahaan." I whispered with tears glistening in my eyes.
"Please just answer Kyra. You don't need to feel pressured. It's all upon you." He said with a smile.
"Yes." I blurted.
"What?" He asked shocked.
"I'll be your girlfriend." I said a little louder this time and he stood up engulfing me in a bone crashing hug.
I hugged him back standing on my tip toes and we stood there like this for minutes absorbing the feeling of such a beautiful moment.
"This is for you. It's a promise ring from my side." He said and slid in a cute ring on my finger.
"I'll keep it safe. Forever." I murmured running my fingers over it.
"Kyra do you like me? At all?" He questioned with a hopeful voice.
"Of course I do idiot. I like you very much. Why would have I said yes anyway?" I replied with a smile and he hugged me once again which I gladly returned.
Flashback Over.
I didn't know how, but a smile reached my face on remembering one of the best moment of my life.
"Congratulations Mrs. Ahaan." He whispered in my ear.
Mrs. Ahaan
I looked at him and he smiled at me making my heart flutter.
"Come on you both, it's time for the couple's photoshoot." Aradhya and Nitya dragged both of us.
They were walking so fast in their ethnic dresses, I don't know how and I was having trouble trying to catch up with my heavy lehenga. A hand forwarded in my direction, I didn't even have to look up to see who it was and gladly took it for help.
Finally they stopped after what seemed like eternity at a point where I could see the photographers had their setup ready. They gestured us to stand in between it and Ahaan led me to it again.
"You guys don't need to be shy now okay? We're leaving so you can pose however you want now that you're married. And Kyra bhabs you don't need to fake a blush as you do in front of us." Aradhya shouts from a distance.
"When did I fake my blush?" I mumbled to myself.
"Oh ho, I know you guys must've done a lot more than these stupid poses." She huffed.
My eyes opened wide as saucers and I could hear Ahaan's husky laugh making me look at him. He was still laughing shaking his head causing a smile to appear on my lips, but it went away as soon as he moved his gaze towards me.
Nitya and Aradhya left and soon the photographers started guiding us different poses.
Ahaan's hand came in contact with my right cheek, grazing it lightly with his calloused hands making me confused for a second and then I understood it was all for the pictures. He placed another on my bare waist drawing me closer all of a sudden to which I placed my hands on his chest. His almost black eyes were settled upon my dark brown ones causing me to drown into them. His face inched closer to mine causing a light pink tint to appear on my cheeks.
"No blushing." He murmured in a husky voice and I placed my head on his chest where I could feel his heart beating loudly just as same as mine.
I looked at him through my lashes and he groaned loud enough for me to hear. Placing his fingers down my chin, he lifted it up and grazed his soft lips on my lipstick clad ones. A light part of lipstick could be seen on the corner of his lips and I wiped it immediately with my thumb without tearing my gaze from his face.
"Nice job guys! I got amazing shots of you both." I heard the photographer praising us and I immediately took one step back from Ahaan.
For a second I forgot about other people that were present here or the ones who could see us from a distance. It was like it's just me and him and there's no need to show or portray a different role. The reality and genuineness comes out naturally.
Soon, we were called back to the main stage of the wedding as everyone was basically waiting for the newly wedded couple.
I scoffed internally at this.
A huge number of guests came on the stage for congratulating us and every single time I replied with a 'Thank you' and a smile. I was glad there weren't a lot of businessmen here and only the family.
Currently, the youngsters of both families were surrounding us, teasing mercilessly and I was trying so hard not to blush by the theories they were telling for the wedding night and tips for Ahaan, but he didn't even seem bothered by it. He was just giving pointed looks and glares in return making them shut, but only for a minute. The word 'shameless' would be best to describe them.
"Where were you?" I questioned Meera who just came and stood in front of me breathing heavily.
"I am so done with this asshole. He has crossed his fucking limit. Piece of shit." Meera huffed loud enough for all of us on stage to hear.
"She has gone insane." Dhruv chuckled beside us.
"No I haven't but my boss has. He's calling me tomorrow in the office. You know what that means? I have to leave for Australia today itself in the midnight." She said, anger clearly evident on her face.
Now, this conversation had peeked interest of almost everyone surrounding us. Ahaan who was busy talking oh-so friendly with a man who just came on the stage turned towards us.
"I am resigning from the post tomorrow itself. I don't care about anything now. I am so done with him. What the fuck does he thinks of himself?" She huffed crossing her arms.
A man patted her shoulder lightly which I recognized the one who was just talking to Ahaan. Meera pushed his hand away lightly and continued blabbering about her boss and the stupid job or how she's going to return to India permanently this time. He again patted her shoulder a little stronger this time causing me to frown in confusion. Not only me, but everyone looked quite confused about this.
"What Aarav? I told you I don't want to eat that mouth watering chicken of yours. You don't understand huh?" Meera raised her voice turning around.
"S-sir?" I heard Meera meekly whisper.
This caused my head to snap in their direction.
"Yes Miss Sharma?" The man asked crossing his arms.
Damn, this man looks handsome, but not more than Ahaan. He looked around the same age as Ahaan or probably a little older and was clearly Indian by the looks but his accent stated otherwise. She's got such a fine piece of ass for a boss.
"What Meera? This chicken is really good. Just try it babe." Aarav said coming on the stage while gobbling on the plate which had chicken in it causing all of us to chuckle.
"H-how com-e y-ou a-are h-here?" She stammered.
"Why? Is it a crime for me to attend a friend's wedding?" The man questioned with an intimidating voice.
"Yes." Meera muttered to herself and I heard it clearly making me smile.
"No sir, it's not." Meera replied in a sweet voice making all of us snicker again.
"Good then. Come with me, we'll talk about your resignation and not to forget the sweet words of yours for me." He said with a smile at the end.
I could only pray for Meera right now.
"No." I heard Meera's reply.
"No?" That man questioned.
"This is not your office. You can't order me around like you do always Mr. Aggarwal." Came Meera's reply this time in a stronger voice.
"Don't worry, I surely can. And listen to me very carefully, I am not going to repeat this again, come with me right now." He said in a stern voice.
"B-but." Meera went back to her stuttering.
Without listening to any other word, he dragged her down the stage leaving us chuckling to the failed attempts of her trying to free herself from him. She glared at us clearly mad for laughing at her situation which made us laugh even more.

We were sitting such a way that Ahaan was beside me with no such gap, Dhruv and Sarah all lovey dovey across from us confusing me each passing second, that man whose name I learned Shaurya Aggarwal as one of Ahaan's good friend from college time was beside Ahaan with a glaring Meera on his another side.
"Come on bro, you have to feed her now." Aradhya said pointing towards me.
"No no, that's not necessary. I'll eat myself." I tried to reason, but it all went it vain as they all started hooting and teasing us.
Ahaan picked up a morsel from the only plate in front of us to dip it in the curry and forwarded it in front of my mouth. Defeatedly, I opened my mouth and he fed me the same. In return they told me to do the same so I picked some rice with the help of spoon and forwarded in the direction of his mouth which he happily ate.
"Ahh! Such an amazing couple." Shaurya said with a smile making me scoff internally and I noticed Meera rolling her eyes at his statement.
The whole time, I didn't even realize how we all were enjoying each other like old times. Nothing was making me feel uncomfortable, and I was smiling the whole time. The fact that I am married has made me think that my life will definitely change. Now, whether it's for good or bad, that I don't know.
