Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 2 | Kʏʀᴀ

It's a saying that whenever you fall in love for the first time, it's forever. No matter how hard you try to forget those memories, it just never happens.

Looking in the mirror, I see a strong and bold girl, Kyra Malhotra, but looking through the depth of myself, it's a girl with a haunting past, depressed with anxiety.

I clearly remember that earlier, the description was used to be like, daughter of Arjun Malhotra, beautiful, sweet, the sister of famous architect Dhruv Malhotra. Not that I complain because I love my family to death, but now it has changed to Kyra Malhotra, the CEO of 'Kysa', the top fashion empire of India.

"Kyraaaa! Get your ass in my office right now." A voice broke the chain of my thoughts.

This voice is something I didn't want to hear at all this particular moment. It's Sarah, my best friend, aka Sarah Oberoi, thenco-owner.of 'Kysa' and is currently calling me in her office for god knows what. Thank goodness she didn't barge in my office like always because if only she gets to know that I was again thinking about 'nonsense' in her point of view, then I don't know what'll be her reaction this time.

Grunting, I got up from my chair and headed towards her cabin.

"What has gotten in your pants?" I said as I entered her office, which was on the same floor as mine, and directly slumped down on one of the chairs placed in the front of her desk.

"Have you actually forgotten about our plan, or are you just acting at this point?" She asked, glaring at me.

Plan?

Damn it!

Suddenly I remembered that we made a plan of going out this weekend for the success of our show. I never realized that my current self won't be as excited as my past one was that I had agreed.

It's not like I am not a fan of drinking and clubbing. There are just times when you don't feel like going out and instead would prefer snuggling under warm blankets with a cup of steaming hot coffee and your favorite novel.

But this is the life of a businesswoman. When you give your word to someone, you can't back out from it. And it's the same situation with my best friend right now.

"Of course not silly. I was just completing my work and was about to come here so we could go to my penthouse to get ready." I said, chuckling lightly.

Thank god I was able to come up with an excuse. I had really forgotten.

"So what's there to wait for? Let the party begin!" And with this, she dragged me out of her cabin and rushed to the elevator.

Reaching the ground level, I was greeted by our employees as usual, and we straightaway went towards my car in the parking lot.

Arriving at my apartment building after a 30 minute ride from my office with Sarah's over the top excitement, I parked my car in the basement and we directly rode the elevator to my penthouse on the 25th floor.

Opening the door with the passcode, I entered and switched on the lights. In front of me was my first ever home, which I purchased completely on my own. It was just like a normal penthouse with massive couches in the lobby, a big staircase thar takes up to the 4 rooms on the first floor and an open kitchen which is adjacent to the living room

"You've just got 30 minutes to get ready, so don't waste any time. And one more thing, I am using the guest room." Sarah shouted. Like always, she seemed a bit too excited about clubbing.

Why won't she? She'll get a guy to spend time with, and me being me will be sitting at the bar drinking my sorrows down.

"And don't forget to wear something sexy." She shouted again as she started going in the direction of the guest room.

Sighing, I went towards my room. Upon entering, I flicked the lights on, which illuminated the ceiling whilst filling the room with warmth. My queen sized bed was the same as I left it in the morning with the unfolded sheets. The fragments that I used this morning still lingered in the room. Moving my gaze, I noticed that the mug I used in the morning was still present at the coffee table around the corner, making me cringe at my laziness. It was the master bedroom it had an en-suite bathroom with it, and without wasting any time I headed in there for a quick shower.

In the next 20 minutes, I was out of the shower standing in my walk-in closet, deciding what to wear. Minutes later, I finally settled upon a rose gold silky dress that ends right in the middle of my thighs.

Pairing it with black high heels extended a good amount of additional height to my own 5'6. Added some golden necklace and earrings, curled my dark-brown hair that reaches till waist and was ready.

"You're killing it, Kyra. I am sure half of the boys will be dead tonight after looking at you." Sarah squealed as I headed towards the living room.

I chuckled full heartedly, knowing how she tried to make make me have a fangirl moment every time I dressed up.

After glancing at her, I noticed that she had already stood dressed in a black off-shoulder dress that made her look like a model about to have a ramp show.

"But you took quite a lot of time." She commented further.

Giving a playful glare to her, I reminded her that we needed to go. After picking up my car, we proceeded to Mumbai's most popular club 'Nowadays' that Sarah had decided long ago.

Parking my car, we went towards the entrace, showed our IDs to the bouncer, and were soon able to enter the club.

The first thing after setting my foot inside the bar I did was to have a look at the bar. I could definitely use a drink.

"Girl, let's head to the bar." Sarah said, shouting over the overbearing music. For sure.

I motioned her to walk, and soon I followed.

"What would you girls like to have?" The bartender asked, smiling as soon as we stood there.

"4 vodka shots, please." I replied and put the money on the counter.

"Planning to get drunk, huh? And laid too?" Sarah asked, smirking at me.

"Nah. It's just been too long since we've been out like this." I replied, glancing in the direction of the dance floor.

No one caught my eye. Either they felt too young to me or too outgoing for my liking. There were few men who seemed to be the big businessmen of the city, considering I have seen them in the parties, but all knew it was a futile attempt to talk to me. They were attractive, no doubt. But I just didn't feel right in taking a step further than friendship.

"To us probably getting laid tonight." Sarah said as we clinked our glasses together and gulped down the whole shot.

4 more shots and one glass of wine. Later, we were on the dancing floor shaking our bodies off, not caring about anyone or anything.

Now, that's what alcohol does to me. I didn't know who was beside me or behind me. I didn't have any idea on whom I was grinding my ass on minutes ago. All I knew was the fun I felt in drunk dancing.

It was then that my eye caught something familiar, too familiar, and was once very close to my broken heart.

Stumbling, I went towards the figure, and it was confirmed that indeed it was him.

Shocked by the fact what he is doing in India, that too in mumbai, I stumbled lightly due to the alcohol effect and turned to the opposite direction in a haste so he won't notice me being here and started searching for Sarah.

After minutes of searching, I found her with some random guy dancing her mind off . I went in her direction and waved at her to notice me. And when she did I motion her to come in my direction, but she couldn't make it out due to my clumsiness of alcohol and I was panicking myself so I reached out for her by holding her elbow.

The guy was protesting as I was taking Sarah away from him, but one glare from me made him shut his mouth.

He can definitely wait right now.

In a haste, I went to ladies' room for privacy whilst dragging Sarah with me, and as soon as we reached there, she started ranting her questions.

"Shut up!" I said, snapping at her. Alcohol is really taking over my mind today.

"No! Tell me why you had to call me here when I was in the middle of dancing!" She folded her arms across her chest, waiting for me to start.

"I just saw him." I blurted.

"What are you trying to say, Kyra? I can't understand a thing." She said with furrowed eyebrows

"He-ee is- he-re." I couldn't even complete my sentence when she beat me to it.

"Kyra, it's not possible. He must be in London." She said as she eventually understood what I was talking about.

She knows everything that has happened to me and what is going on in my life. This is what best friends are for, and I could never hide such a big part of my life from her.

"But I am a hundred percent sure that it was him." I said in an aggravated tone, worry lacing my voice.

"No need to panic, Kyra. We are leaving right now. I don't think it's the right time for him to notice you as well. " She said in a soft manner, and we were out of the club in a flash.

Waking up with a terrible hangover is not what I wanted. My head was literally pounding, and I instantly regretted drinking that much last night.

Groaning, I checked for my mobile on the nightstand and found it in my clutch. Upon seeing the time, I was shocked, but the number of missed calls I saw that too from Dad made me horrified. I hope nothing too serious has happened. There were a few from Sarah and Aarav as well. I thought of calling Sarah later as today was Sunday, which meant no office.

Aarav is my other friend back in Delhi. We always used to spend time together since school time although we were a group of five. We still are pretty close, but Aarav being in Delhi makes it a little difficult. But as Sarah and I regularly go to Delhi to visit our parents and for a break from work, we keep meeting.

I got up from the bed, took an Advil with some water, and took a shower. I came out exactly 30 minutes later in a much better condition. For the day, I wore my beige crop top with black high-waisted jeans and paired the outfit with black flats and did my routine makeup.

Wondering about Delhi, where I spent all of my childhood, I walked to the living room to have my breakfast. As soon as I was done with it, I took my mobile phone and dialed my father's number. He picked up after 4-5 rings and greeted me with his likable voice.

"How is my lovely daughter doing?"

"Hi Dad, I am a good little tired, though. How are you and how's Mom and Dhruv?" I asked, similing.

"Why is my daughter tired? Well, me and your mom are absolutely fine and are missing you terribly. It's been almost a month since we met." He replied, and I sensed the restlessness as well. Till the point I hadn't shifted to Mumbai, he was not at all in favor of me going away from him. He kept saying he didn't want his princess away.

"Nothing, Dad, it's just the workload." I replied.

"Work is always like this, Kyra. But I know how good and focused you are with it. I am really proud of you." He replied, and I could sense the smile on his face kilometers away.

"Thank you, Dad. But why did you call me so many times, Dad? Is there something important?" I asked, coming to the topic.

"The reason I called you was because I am arranging tickets for you and Sarah to come to Delhi. Don't worry, I've already talked about this vacation with her parents." He said.

"But Dad, we have loads of work in the company, and I won't be able to leave anytime soon." I replied with a sad pout.

I really missed being with them.

"Don't worry, I know you have projects for this month, but I am sure your employees can look after while you're gone. And if any issue arises in your absence, I will not keep you here any longer. And you know that your mother and brother won't hear a no from you." He said.

"Okay, Dad, just send me the details." I told him defeatedly seeing his answer to every question.

"And not to forget you'll be staying for long this time." He said, which instantly made me a little suspicious.

I wondered why that would it be, but nevertheless hung up bidding him goodbye and went to pack.

While packing, I thought of calling Sarah, and as soon as she picked up, she became so excited and ranted about how we were going to enjoy this stay meeting our friends, family, and all the exploring in Delhi

It suddenly clicked my mind Aarav had called me and with this I dialed his number. After 2-3 rings, he picked up.

"So finally madam decided to call me back." He directly said without even greeting.

"Sorry bro, I had a terrible hangover, but guess what? I am coming to Delhi!" I replied happily .

"Are you serious?" He asked, sounding surprised.

"Absolutely, and even Sarah is accompanying me." I replied.

"Woah! This is going to be super fun. Listen, I have a meeting right now, but as soon as you two reach, we are going to meet up." He said.

"Of course, like old times." I replied.

"You remember how five of us used to have so much fun." He said, making my heart clench.

As soon as the words came out of his mouth, my thoughts went to the previous night. Was it my hallucination? Or was he really here in Mumbai? I decided to quickly change the topic.

"You know we're going to have so much fun. Just wait till we reach there. We're not going to let you work like the workaholic you are and will keep you all of the time with us." I said, teasing him.

"Of course you would. I'll be waiting, bye." He said as he hung up.

Aarav is such a jovial person, but at the same time , it is the smartest when it comes to serious or important matters.

Giving a pause to my never-ending thoughts, I continued with my packing.

What are your thoughts? I know I am updating chapters altogether, but your views are really important. I edited it just for you guys, so don't disappoint.
